Challenging and fun course
Had a great time here. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a challenging course. Overall just one great time
Tight fairways
You have to be straight off the tee. Since I hit them long, I only used my driver on a few holes.
A classic course
I love this course. Semi hidden gem of So Cal. Not so hidden, that the course isn't busy. Because it always is. But most of my golfing buddies have not played here.
Each hole asks for a little something different. Each set of tees I've found are usually laid out well, offering different challenges for your handicap.
Pro-shop is well stocked. Staff are friendly. During these covid times, if you're tee time is after 1130ish, prepare to wait for a cart. Every course is like this.
Tee boxes are well managed for the most part. There are few tee boxes with a slanted lies in some areas. But the grass feels good and is not a goat feeding area.
Fairways for the most part are in good shape. For this heat, they are in better shape than most. There are a few questionable areas. But 99% of the time, when you're in the fairway, you're hitting off fairway grass.
The rough here is manicured fairly well. This is probably the least focus of the greenskeeper. But the hilly layout probably makes it tough to maintain. The rough is tough. Robs you of speed and is a great a challenge. Don't expect you're ball to break free if you're chipping through the rough around the green. If you're in the rough, just get back on the fair way.
Greens. Greens are great and roll true. I play here 2 or 3 times a month and the greens are always pretty good.
Restaurant. Food here is pretty good and great value. Cuban, Tuna, and Breakfast sandwich are always on point. Meadow burger is a decent burger.
Charged no show fee
1st of all My tee time was 510 I show at 5 pay and the course runs out of carts I do not get pushed out until 5:35pm I did not complain until now my partner did not show cause he got stuck at work but they still charged me 31.00 I hate the Golf Now just charges you without letting you know Im done with Mountain meadows and Golf Now this is BS!!
Course
its a challenging course. The staff does a good job having pace go. On Friday though the bunkers we not setup correctly, the sand was hard and not ideal to hit shots out of. Other than that, great course to play in.
Nice to play here again
I used to play mountain meadows many times before and did Not play for while. This time was a surprise. Course maintenance are pretty good, green is good. Very good round.
Only thing not good is back nine player slow down our play. When we came to 10th, have to wait for groups in front us. That is not right! Starter need to know regular 18 hole player already there at 9th hole.
Fees
I believe that the fees that I was charged were very expensive knowing that it was during the week
This course books to many tee times
Had a tee time at 12:40 got to the course 15 minutes early come to find out that there 1 hr behind due to lack of carts. If you know that there isn't enough carts why book so many tee times.
TERRIBLE! AVOID
this has nothing to do with the actual golf course its self. the golf course is a nice and a great course to golf on.
with covid going on this place is an absolute nightmare though! absolutely terrible service!!!!!!!!!!! they made my 9 year carry his own golf clubs and walk the whole course while my dad drove a cart next to him. both my dad and son live in the same household. as i told the gentlemen on the phone, update your website because if i would have known they were doing this i would have never booked the tee time for my dad for this golf course. we have a household of 8 that all golf and we will never be back to this course due to the terrible service and making my 9-year-old walk the course. be aware and call and ask what their covid policy are since they have not updated their website in over year!!!!!!
Good course condition
The course is in good condition. Has enough challenging holes that can cost you if you don’t hit the fairway. The putting green is in very good condition. Some of the bunkers can benefit from raking and redistributing the sand. Overall had a wonderful time.
Don’t use Golfnow if you plan to walk or use senior card
Booked the night before on Golfnow. It does not give you the option of using a cart or walking. It’s a flat rate either way. When I got to the course they would not allow me to get the walking rate. And my buddy was not allowed to use a LA county senior card.
They also had a tournament going off that put us behind about 15 minutes. The director put us on hold number 10, but when we came around to start 1 , It was painfully packed and slow.
I will not be back. All the manager had to do was allow us the normal rates rather than the higher ones, on Golfnow. Did I say I won’t be back ?????
No sympathy!
I reserved a tee time. My playing partner got terribly sick and the weather was miserable so I called the course starter and requested a cancellation. He told me no he couldn’t do it and I had to go through Golfnow. I know it was under 24 hours but come on. I went to Golfnow and tried to cancel. There is a prompt for medical reason which I tried but it wouldn’t allow the cancellation.
Day’s later, my credit card was charged the full green fee price.
This is the last time I’m using Golfnow or golfing at Mountain Meadows unless something is rectified or the policy is changed. What’s a person to do? Play on their death bed.
Three hours to play 11 holes so we quit. Never go back!
It took three hours to play 11 holes with playing thru one group. That group also came back on one hole then hit my ball. They then tried to play it off like it was not my ball till I demanded to see the ball in his hand. The course has way to many blind shots off of the tee. The course condition is what I expected for a publicly owned course. The staff was great.
One hour behind on start times
My father and I have a tee time at 12:50 and we checked in at 11:50 the staff said they would be ten minutes behind . After paying and walking to the range we noticed the massive group of about 15-20 people waiting to get a cart from the grips finishing on 18 .... that should of been our first clue , we hit a few ball on the range and went to put and after 45 minutes I thought it might be good to check on where they were at with start times . The starter laughed when I asked him and sent me to the pro shop where I found out they were one hour behind and some of the carts out on the course where died and stuck . We asked for our free fees to be refunded and left. When a course puts out five sums and books :15 minutes tee times it’s a recipe for disaster — don’t play this course after 12:00 bad idea
