Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Quail Valley Golf Course was opened for public play in May of 1994.
This championship links-style course is 30 minutes west of downtown Portland just off of HWY 26. The combination of a country setting and a meticulously maintained course will make your round comfortable and undisturbed by city noise. The flat open look may give you the impression that the course is easy to play. Think again. The confident golfer will be surprised at the many hazards throughout the course.
Several grass mounds and small trees line the fairways, but the main cause for caution is the water and sand. Fairway and green bunkers are everywhere and the stealth-like water hazards are well placed.

My favorite course
This is my favorite course with wide open fairways, and the green is always in great condition.
Great course, great value
I golfed Quail Valley on a Saturday afternoon and it was alittle slow, but not bad considering Saturday afternoon. The course was in great condition, weather was average with a shower or two. I payed on Golf now, so was a better value with cart included. Great afternoon. I will come back!
Great Golf
Last minute deal and the course did not disappoint. Not too packed, good pace of play and course in great condition.
Very good public course
This course is very friendly to the golfer. Fairly flat, wide fairways, welled mowed, nice greens. No real challenging holes. The wind is the only test, it is rarely at your back. The average golfer should do well here, good for the ego.
It beats working.
Relatively flat course with enough water to keep you honest. Hole difficulty ranges from easy to challenging.
Greens were excellent
Love this course. I wish I lived closer because I would play it all the time. Course is we'll maintained and the surroundings are spectacular.
Good place to work on your driver.
I've played Quail many times, I'd characterize it as a good value for money course with wide open fairways so if your driving as been a bit poor it's somewhere you can go to work on that club without paying too great a price in balls.
While it doesn't have the price tag of Pumpkin Ridge just up the road, it doesn't have a lot of it's problems with wet weather either. In superb summer weather it won't have Pumpkin's fairways but I've rarely if ever seen it's greens in poor shape and if you want to play in winter/late fall I'd say Quails greens might be in better shape. The day I played they had just been pressed in preparation for a tournament and were in fine shape, a good even surface, no blemishes.
On a personal, pet peeve side issue, I hit one bunker that day and found I actually had sand under my feet and ball to hit from! I play all over the Portland area and find time and again when I'm in a bunker, I'm hitting from a small layer of sand with solid mud underneath. I find I can actually achieve the shot in my minds eye more often than not when given a chance to, this needs to happen more often, kudos Quail.
Great greens and played in 4 hours.
Course was great! Fun and lots of room to hit the golf ball around. We played in 4 hours as a 4some, walking and teed off around 8a. Greens rolled true and weren't too fast. Fun track and we will be back.
The course has a wide open design but still challenging.
The course was in excellent condition and the pace of play was perfect.
Course is playing great
Playing conditions on a warm, sunny day on a dry course were exceptional. Had a great time.
Solid value, solid track.
Played early in the morning and got around in 4 hours. High school tournament was going that day so the course was in good condition all around. Really enjoyed the round.
Great Time!
Despite the constant misty drizzle, the course was very fun and we had a great toime. The costs were extremely worth it.
Great greens
Love this course, the greens are great. We played 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours on a Saturday afternoon. They do a great job of keeping the course in top notch shape.
Hot time deal
Course in early spring condition. Greens a little rough but true rolls.
Fairways a little fuzzy, too much recent rain and will be much better in a week with further mowing.
Had a great $21 walking hot deal.
greens are back to normal after plugging
Picked a fantastic spring day, reasonable pace of play, greens are back to good again, wind was not a factor which it can be at this track.
Recommended Course
This is the second time I have played Quail Valley in the past two weeks. The greens were aerated two weeks ago and are healing up fairly quick even with the recent frost we have been getting. Overall, the course is a great time and very playable. We were behind a slow group to begin with, but the Marshall did a great job in getting them to pick up and we ended up playing in just under 4 1/2 hours in the middle of a packed tee sheet. In another week or so the greens are going to be rolling great.
Pace of Play
I played as a single behind Three groups of foursomes. I caught them on the 3rd hole, and wasn't let through until hole #15! It was EXTREMELY frustrating to play a solo round in nearly 5 hours! I love Quail Valley, and this won't keep me from coming back, but this was not a good day to be out there. I understand they don't have a marshal unless it's peak season.
