Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Quail Valley Golf Course was opened for public play in May of 1994.
This championship links-style course is 30 minutes west of downtown Portland just off of HWY 26. The combination of a country setting and a meticulously maintained course will make your round comfortable and undisturbed by city noise. The flat open look may give you the impression that the course is easy to play. Think again. The confident golfer will be surprised at the many hazards throughout the course.
Several grass mounds and small trees line the fairways, but the main cause for caution is the water and sand. Fairway and green bunkers are everywhere and the stealth-like water hazards are well placed.

This course is golfer friendly.
The course was in great shape. The greens were running fast. Several risk reward holes. This is my favorite course because of the setting, out in the country, great unhurried pace and good value for the pocket book.
Above average track
Not high on design, most holes pretty straight forward, it has a newer feel, maintained well, not a lot of trouble.
You can score well with distance, and some risk (2 drivable par 4's over water)
Good grass practice facility as well. Just note, mostly walkers out here.
Paid $51, would have loved it for $40. Comparably, Chahalem Glenn is a much stiffer test for less money.
Best shoulder season course
I play this course during the shoulder season because it has great deal on golfnow.com. It is great course for walking 18 holes. It has always been well maintained. The staffs are very friendly.
Links course with some of the best greens in the state
Quail Valley is a fun, links style course. It's not overly tough.
Rating from the blue tees is 70.0/123.
Off the tee, for the most part, it's wide open. There some fun, pretty easy holes. There's three or four holes that can really bite you if you don't play smart.
Wind is the biggest defense. It can blow pretty good in the afternoon. The greens are phenomenal putting surfaces. The course is very well maintained.
They also have an excellent grass range and short game practice area. I would recommend this course highly.
Good condition and easy to walk
While other local courses are in rough shape because of the dry weather, Quail Valley is holding it's own. Fairways are green and not too firm and the putting surfaces are well taken care of.
This course is a fun challenge that doesn't need a big driver of the ball to conquer.
Get out there and play this course. Its fun to play 36 west of Portland start here at Quail Valley, then to Pumpkin.
Fun Course
Quail Valley invites you to swing for the fences and score low. Easily walkable and well maintained, the course makes for a great round. From the whites, you will find yourself hitting a PW after a good drive on most par fours. The greens are in great shape. I'll be returning.
Love the Greens!
Really like the course! Good mix of par 3's and 5's! Greens always in excellent condition and roll pretty firm! Last 2 times out pace of play has been herrendous with no Marshall in sight.. Closer to 5 hours then 4! Plenty of time to grab a snack @ turn if somebody is working! Overall course I really like was just disappointed with pace o play 2 trips in a row!
Fast greens, good condition, fun to play.
Value good at golfnow.com price. Regular green fees are a bit high for this course.
Good test of golf but those darn trees are getting bigger since course opened
Course was in good shape (always seems to be). Pace of play was a little slow, but the wind started blowing harder on the back nine. Greens rolled well.
The course plays well and is always well maintained.
The course plays well and is always well maintained.
Fast greens, challenging course with water and bunkers
Well maintanted course with fast greens. Easy walking course. Started on time, but slow play due to the course being full.
scenic
thoroughy enjoyed the country setting. course was in exlcellent shape except for water-logged sandtrap on #13. would play it again.
Mid level hidden gem just outside Portland
At 36 bucks for weekday afternoon rates, Quail Valley is 16 dollars cheaper than the OGA course and a much better laid out track. The practice facilities are good. (The putting and chipping greens are very good.) and the staff is always friendly and never seem to be trying to nickel and dime you. The clubhouse is not much, but you go to Banks to play golf, not eat dinner. Its nice to play a course that doesnt feel the need to trick things up in order to make it interesting. No blind tee shots...no hidden hazards. I will most certainly be playing again.
Fun Course
The views of the ponds and fairways was very nice..
I'm an advanced beginner and was able to play the course without to much difficulty. Looking forward to going back!
Looks easy, plays difficult
Greens are in great shape however very fast with very tough pin positions
Will play it again in the morning.. too hot in the afternoon
Course is a fun one to play, very walkable.
Course is in great shape, greens are receptive if the wind is not blowing, may be difficult if it is. Easy walking course. Has several water holes that makes it more challenging. Fun to play.
the greens and fairways are in great shape. no dead spots anywhere on course
The course is in the best shape I have ever seen it. Now is the time to play, due to the fact that there is little shade from the sun.
Great
Played early at 07:45. An easy pace in 4 hours. Could see stacking up a little later on in the day, as expected on an busy day. Staff was very considerate and friendly. Enjoyed my game and shot below my handicap.
