Golfer Reviews
Overly Tough
I played here a few years back in a tournament and had a bad round. Found the course very difficult. Very punishing off the tee. When I saw it available on GolfNow I decided to give it another go. I played with a buddy who is a single digit handicap. He is usually long and straight off the tee. He said he would never come back. Found a few holes to just silly or overly punishing even with good shots. Number 10 is a silly hole. I usually play around 6300 yards with a slope around 130. I chose the silver/gold combo tee as it should have been suitable. Needless to say, I shot a rather high score. The bunkers really could use some maintenance. If the course won't look after them the golfers won't either. There were a lot of foot prints and not surprisingly because there were very few rakes. Not sure if I will be back.
Unsafe cart path with a huge pothole
My wife fell down on cart path near hole #9 green immediately after she got off from our cart because there is a huge pothole. She injured her left leg ankle badly and got big scratches on her right knee. We've played golf nearly for ten years but never experienced this kind of accident before. The golf course should maintain the cart path well for golfer's safety. It's very scary and painful.
great shape
The course is in great shape and its a real nice track that is located close to the 403 for easy access. Only complaint is that there are quite a few blind shots and lay up shots
Don't play Sundays
We were on pace for a 6 hour round before we decided to skip two holes and we were still 5 hours. Marshalls are not on the course on Sundays we were told. Ruined the round for us. Very poor course management which is a shame because for the most part it's one of the nicer and most challenging courses in the area.
Should be better
The course was dry enough for May but the greens were slow and the aeration holes were still very evident. For May, the greens should have been better. The course or GolfNow should offer specials to play here.
Great Course
First time playing Mystic. Will definitely be back.
One of my Favorites - Great Golf
The golf is the star here. Course and range. The staff I found to be just this site of something holes and the clubhouse was lame. A trailer I think. Anyway, once you're going you'll have a great time. Great layout, not a course for beginners in fact even a 20 hdcp to scratch player will find this challenging from the correct tees. Played it much better the second time with course knowledge. I'll give you a tip, don't go long and any green it will almost always cost you a stroke. Number 10 is one of the coolest par 5s I've ever seen with the island fairway. Lots of forced carries here too. You'll need your A game for this round but you can score well if you play it with the respect it deserves. Good greens and bunkers too.
challenging, difficult but enjoyable
Played this course near the end of our golf season. Course was in very good condition. The staff was very friendly.
Price was right. Remember to bring extra golf balls.
nice course
first time playing the course, very fun but can be challenging to play, chose to play silver tee due to weather condition, ( windy and a little on the cold side ), would like to play it again next summer.
You have to play it twice so you know where to hit.
Put this on your bucket list
Bring your A+ game
The first cut will choke your club
Bring your range finder
If you put it in the long grass or trees throw out another and keep playing.
The Marshall's may have extra balls for you
This is the best and toughest course I have played
You have to hit it long and straight
The second time I played was better
The third I hope will be great
Must Play
Excellent Course - Worth the Trip
First Time Played.
As mentioned to me prior... bring your "A" game, and how true. Played from the Golds (Black / Gold / Silver) with winds 23 klm an hour.... yet still a great day.
Club house is bare simple... money spend on the course.
Only regret is that the yardage is not always clearly indicated. Always 150... seldom marked is the 200 or 100... so sometime difficult to understand the distance required, especially on the many carries from the Tee.
Will play again... and more likely within this week :)
Mystical round of golf
My favorite course in the Hamilton area. The variety of layout of types of holes is what I enjoy about this course.
The only downside of the course is the lack of a clubhouse and the sand bunkers require lots of work.
Late Season Golf
Course was in good condition but golfnow didnt tell me that the greens were aerated; I would have not of booked it.
Other than that the course was in good shape, not many people so we finished in 3hrs. I would play this course again, but in primetime to get the most for your money.
Challenging course
that I will definitely play again (this was my first time at it...I heard great things and not so great things but realize the not so great things were from golfers who would really struggle with this layout).
very challenging course
excellent course with long carries on several holes. suggest silver/gold combo for tees.
Beautiful Course
We played Mystic on a cool, sunny, windy day. They were working on the front nine so we played the back nine twice. The 10th hole is probably the hardest par five I have ever played. A bogie is a good score.
The course is beautiful and in good condition other than a few bunkers. I would strongly recommend it to any golfer with a handicap under 25.
Good course
Good value for the course, kind of unique in some of holes design. I am surprised how many people on the course even under the cold weather. It makes you use lots of clubs.
