Ballantrae Golf Club

The course is in great shape. T boxes, fairways, greens all well maintained. Greens were fast and true, all triple cut nicely. Same for the practice facilities as well.
Fair tee shot to wide fairways but well guarded, elevated greens. No rolling, bouncing the ball on to the green on approach shots.
Homes along course, but they are not very obtrusive.

Fair but challenging Carrick layout. Virtually every green is raised and with even moderate wind it is tough to hit greens in regulation. So bring your "A" pitching and putting game.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Have played here many times and prefer less than perfect weather here as on those lovely summer days your round will take longer than you want it to.

Played as a 2some at twilight (3:50). Took a couple holes to get passed a 4some but flew after that.

Course is in great shape .... lush fairways with fairly smooth greens. Much quicker than any other greens I've played in the last few weeks. Watch out for those nasty elevated greens!

Friendly staff. Clean carts. And I like the small bucket of balls for warmup.

Even though a group of beginners were sent off before us the marshalls saw to it that the pace of play was not adversly effected by keeping their eye on this group for the entire round.
They moved them ahead when necessary.
Course was in good shape, greens were true.

We like this course pretty much. The course design (layout) is great. The most challenging part is the green. They are always mushroom shaped. You have to drop and stop when you attack. We will definitely come back again

What a great course! I found the fairways, even though it winded through a residential area/gated community to be quite forgiving (compared to say, Highland Gate, Horseshoe Valley-Highlands or Millcroft), and were also so well kept that they were better than some greens on other courses I've played!
The greens themselves rolled true but were tough, in that many were elevated so if you passed the green, your ball would roll off and you'd find yourself in a bowl-like area (which I thought was pretty cool!)
There were also some nice looking holes so I'd say that this course was definitely among the tops I've played this season (which include Lake Joseph Club, Horseshoe Valley - Highlands, Seguin Valley, Shawneeki, Braeben, etc.)
It was sunny when we played, our foursome finished in four hours to the tee on a Saturday! (marshalls were definitely on the ball here) and overall, I have nothing but great things to say about this course! (they also provided us with a bucket of range balls to warm up prior to our round).
Definitely would highly recommend to others and would play this course again in a heartbeat!

Fairways, greens and tees are well kept. Very good pace of play. Cater for more experienced golfers who will enjoy the layout and slick greens.

The course conditions were good although some of the tee decks, in particular the par 3's and a good handful of the greens need maintaining. Other than that, an enjoyable course to play.

I've always enjoy my golfing experience at Ballantrae. The course layout presents interesting challenges to players of all skill levels and the course condition is always top notch. Off the tees is not very difficult, but the approach shots require fairly accurate distance control due to the elevated greens with lots of collection areas; and when the wind is blowing, it will definitely making hitting the greens a tad more difficult.

the course was in very good condition from tee to green. The greens are quite fast and very true. Excellent bunkers protect many of the greens making it a bit difficult to stick on some greens unless you can spin your approach shots. Staff were very friendly.

I love this course very much, I have a great score on this course I hit 79 yesterday. I arrive 45 min early and they give me a busket of golf ball to play, but they are very strick on time and not allow me to leave even 1 min early. Not good experience is the course is too good, a lot of people enjoy the coures and each holes, that why we need to wait every hole, this is not good, the course is too busy. But overall, for this kind of HOT DEAL in this course, you guy do a great job. Appreaicated.

It was ok considering the special green fee I paid.
However, I had to wait 2-5 min on the deck every hole after playing 4-5 holes.

Foursomes were jammed one after the other, play was over 5 hrs. Tee boxes require some TLC. For the price, good value.

Overall, Ballantrae is well laid out, and has some scenic and memorable holes. My only gripe with the course is that it is built amidst a nexus of retirement home complexes - for a better part of the round, it would seem that the course is flanked by an endless row of fenceless suburb homes. If one should have the misfortune of hitting it from the rough, he might just find himself close enough to a home to hear conversations or music on his backswing.. very disquieting.

Course is very nice, with tee boxes, fairways and greens in great condition. Played as a family, loved the tee it forward program, making the entire game enjoyable for Husband (playing off Blue tees, me Playing off red tees and 12 year playing off yellow tees). All had a great time. Must be said staff from marshalls, snack bar people, starter and proshop people extremely helpful and friendly. The only complaint is that the course is situated in the middle of a residential community. Previous reviews said they are only noticeable on a few holes, not really, about half or more. Would definitely return for another round.

Quite forgiving from tee to green unless you are playing from gold tee. All greens are well protected and you will see the real challenge there.
