SLOW 5
I've been playing Capital City for about five years now and normally it is a very nice course to play. Today would have been another nice day if not for the slow play and a course marshal who couldn't be bothered with enforcing a pace of play. Front nine in two hours, no problem. Started back nine with a twenty minute wait at the tee box. Finished the 10 to arrive at 11 with 13 people at the tee box or in the greens. The foursome in front of us just left and either jumped a hole of left. The foursome behind use complained to the Marshall who told them he didn't care. It was wait and go for the next 8 holes. This is a annomoly but does happen from time to time.. Marshall should be doing more than sitting in a cart smoking cigars under the trees.
All year round golf for sure
I am a member here and love the community that surrounds it. To the staff of the course and the restaurant, keep up the good work. I always look forward to some more golf, see you guys soon.
Nice course with a driving range!
The price is good for the course conditions and challenge of play. I arrived 30 minutes early to hit balls only to find out everything was running 20 minutes behind (probably because of the practice rounds prior to the WJGA tournament the following two days). GolfNow says a small bucket of balls comes with the green fee but it’s actually extra. Well kept greens with great amenities at the turn.
Full priced carts
My son in law arrived for our 1:30 tee time. Due to Covid policy were informed that we had to ride separate carts. We informed the staff that we had ridden together but to no avail. The worst part was that we had to pay full price on half carts! They didn’t even attempt to charge us for one rider per. They charged us as if there was a full cart.
Horrible course policy! Never again.
First round since quarantine relaxed!
Overall great day. Did not care that the folks in front of us had players jump in and join them . Drinking and goofing around really slowed play on the back 9. The course was in good shape and the carts were clean.
Capital City golf course
Course was in excellent condition. Pace was great . I will play there again.
Amazing year-round golf
This course is a local favorite and gets busier as the weather gets nicer. During peak times you can expect 4 and a half hour rounds. In the winter or even rain this course drains really well and the best part is that the greens are almost always in perfect condition. Fun and challenging course with one water hazard and many bunkers and trees that really come into play. I highly recommend this course to all.
Always a fun and exciting environment
I always enjoy my times there with everyone I came across with. I am new to the sport and is always a good and exciting learning experience for me there always.
Fun Course
Great value ,fun to play. Had frost delay but staff was organized and got groups out as fast as possible.
GOOD PUBLIC COURSE
Course was in good condition and was not too wet even after recent downpours. the greens were in very good shape and were deceptively fast.
Dry winter course
Has a natural drain to the course so it is the best course to play in the winter in the Olympia area.
Always fun!
We we're lucky enough to play as a twosome thanks to the guy in the pro shop. He is always nice and courteous. Course is fun to play even though it was chilly and breezy. We got behind a 2 some but kept pace with them and did not have to wait all that much.
Friendly and fun course for family outing
Very friendly staff, fairways wide open, greens okay just irrigated couple weeks back. Played on Saturday late morning, the course was packed and still complete within a little over 4- hours.
Timing is everything.
-I enjoyed this course the first time I played it. The booking was on a weekday and play wasn't too bad so this review considers both rounds since this experience is partially my own fault for booking a tee time on a holiday and/or weekend.
-In regards to this latest round, I wasn't made aware that the tee boxes were under repair or the greens both on the course and in the practice area were plugged before booking. This significantly impacted my experience but not as much as the slow play. I ended up just leaving after playing nine instead of continuing to watch the hackfest in front of me since I never saw a ranger or beverage cart employee. This could just be my own fault for booking a tee time on a holiday and/or weekend.
I'm sorry you felt the cart rate was excessive. We did not charge you a full cart rate, we charged you a $5 extra fee for a single cart rate. We are forced to have single riders by the Governor's order and the virus. I'm sorry if you feel we forced you to ride separately, but I believe your anger is with the wrong organization. We have no choice unless you live in the same household. This entire situation has been incredibly difficult for all of us and we are just trying to survive the times. With single riders, we have to rent out more carts and therefore more cost to operate. I do see you enjoyed the course and the pace of play. We hope you consider us again in the future. Please stay safe and healthy wherever you decide to play golf. Thanks for playing Capitol City Golf Club!
