Southbrook Golf and Country Club
About
Nestled in the quaint village of Binbrook, Southbrook Golf & Country Club has a charmingly idyllic yet convenient location that is only minutes from the QEW, the 403, and the Lincoln Alexander Parkway. The club first opened in 1969 with a nine-hole golf course, which was later expanded to 18 holes in 1972. A renovation of the golf course resulted in a redesign of five holes on the front nine and a new irrigation system. Southbrook Golf & Country Club now plays to a 6,560 yards and its new challenges demand precision and keen course strategy. The meandering Welland river snakes through the golf course as well, coming into play on 13 holes while also enhancing the natural beauty of the course.

this course has some quirky holes
when I played this course it was very dry and hard almost impossible to stop the ball on the greens. If you landed on the green it would bounce and release to the back even on the holes when the green sloped from front to back. Not easy to run anything up to the hole as many of the greens are elevated
the pace of play was very slow lots of rough and a lot of time spent looking for your ball, sometimes in the rough even when you found your ball you go get a club and come back and you cant find the ball even though you were only a few yards away from it.
Average course for the money
The course is a standard layout that is reasonably maintained. It has number of holes with small circular pancake greens that detract from the rest of the course. It appears that there has been regular upgrading to the course... hopefully some more greens will be improved.
the greens needed work and the beverage girl was a no show
bring h2o just in case, we were left without a cart girl and thank god we brought water
Great course a must return in the near future
Great course a must return in the near future, great staff memebers that were very helpful and friendly
Well Maintained
this course has greatly improved over the years. A New 11th hole adds to the experience.
Over packed
Pace of play is always slow due to over booking of the course. There is a lack of Marshals doing what their supposed to do and make sure pace of play is at a decent pace. There is always a case of people playing 3 or more shots of the tee and hitting it barley 150. Course could be a lot better if they didn't over book all the time, and had enough marshals to maintain the pace of play. Golf shouldn't be 5 hours. In terms of the course shape, it offers some challenging holes and a decent fairway and greens cut but the rough is outrageous and they need to have levels of rough and not a huge ball trap. Especially when your ball rolls slightly off the fairway. That's all I have to say.
Elevation change and water.
This course is challenging and fun to play! Beware the creek.
Great Day ruined by unfriendly Marshalls
Great day of golf except for the unfriendliness of the Marshalls. We teed off at 7:15 and were told that 2 hours - 10 mins was acceptable. On hole #8 a Marshall came by & said we were holding up the course, but we were well on time as it was 9:056 am. At hole #10 tee, another Marshall puffing on a smoke asked us when we teed off, we said....7:15 am He said that they were behind and pace of play needs to be sped up! WQe finisehed the round at 11:28 am, well within the alotted time for this course.
Unfortunately, the morning was ruined by a contingent of "Grumpy Old Men" that could not do their job!
First Timer at this Course
The greens are in excellent shape. The tee boxes were a bit hard, making it difficult to set your tees. The fairways were maintained and in good order. The rough was short enough to enable balls that go astray findable in a quick manner. The staff at the pro shop and starter/marshalls were friendly and answered any question that I had. I would definitely play this course again.
SO SO
Got a fair price.Found bar staff not great bar tender walk by me 3x's without asking or saying she would with me shortly found out they are contract/caterers not a good idea in my opinion.1st time playing this course nice layout challenging Found it very dry need a hammer to put your tee in needs water ASAP
Nice course with interesting changes to the back nine.
The course can be forgiving but will penalize you for bad shots at the wrong time. Some shots are blind so it's best to have someone watching. Greens in really good shape. I recommend Southbrook.
do not play this course
I did book this course but when i got there for my 1.15 tee time
the people at the pro shop desk took my money but somehow
forgot to tell me there were no carts and i would have to wait
somewhere between 1 hour and fifteen minutes till we could play and up to 1 hour and forty five minutes depending when the carts came back in. I will never play here again and will try to convience my friends to never play there either. The owners of this golf course are overly greedy.
not so happy
1.5 hour delay due to a tournament before us. Golf Now should not sell t-times when courses hold tournaments the same day.
Has some interesting feature.
Overall nice course with some challaging holes. Could use more cart paths.
Great value for the price.
Very impressed with the improvements made over the last few years. Owner obviously cares about the property and the game. No problem recommending this course to any golfer and friends are always pleased when I introduce them to it.
Well maintained, interesting course.
During the fall time of the season must keep the ball in the fairway. Some good challenging holes, few par 3's, bunkers didn't come into play at all. A little bit of water to contend with. Very good value.
Nice variety in the hole layouts.
Tree lined and hilly with water coming into play on a large number of the holes The fairways could use some work as they are really just shorter cut grass and weed than the rough, with bare patches in quite a few spots.. The grass on the tee boxes also needs to be resodded. Despite these shortcomings the course is still good value when compared with others in the GTA, as long as your expectations are realistic.
Fun to play. Some great holes.
Very good course, good value, some risk reward holes. Play there 10/15 time per year. Usually play well there. Highly recommend course to anyone.
