About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018 and transformed into Disc Golf Course.
Kayak Point Golf Club is one of Washington's most popular courses. It was named one of the "Top 50 Public Courses to Play" by Golf Digest, and the Seattle Times called it a "must play" course. Located in Stanwood, Kayak Point is less than an hour north of Seattle. The layout was carefully carved from an old growth forest of firs and cedars. You'll enjoy scenic views of the Olympic Mountains on several holes. The layout will test you with sloping fairways and large, immaculately manicured greens. There are more than 30 greenside bunkers at Kayak Point, but water comes into play on only two holes. The spacious golf course doesn't have any parallel fairways and it's not short on length at over 6,700 yards from the back tees.

All in all, a very good course
Many Tee Boxes have become highly crowned, making for some awkward stances.
If your tee time is after 10 am be prepared for a dreadfully slow pace of play.
problems at the turn
The course is in good shape and it is a challenge particularly from the black tees. I like the mental challenge and the greens are in good shape but extremely challenging. My problem with this course is the pace of play. Several times recently I have waited for 30 plus minutes to tee off on #10 after making the turn. I ended up walking off the course on 11 because the two groups in front of my twosome were taking at least 20 minutes to play each hole and nothing being done to speed them up even after complaining to the unfriendly young woman behind the desk at the pro shop as well as the marshall who was not even on the course. Love the course but wont be returning until they figure out how to speed groups up that are playing at a 6.5 hour pace. Sorry but I will spend my money elsewhere until addressed.
This course is for golfers that want to challenge themself and not hit over small trees and opposite fairways easily ,great challenge
If you want to challenge your friends in a competitive foresome you must play Kayak Point there are no easy holes bring your game
It's decent but don't expect a great golfing experience.
Don't spray the ball. Although some tree lined areas are cleaned out, the playing corridors are tight and balls can bounce down slopes into trouble. Local rule plays all wooded areas as a lateral hazard.
Some areas were soggy due to recent rain, but the 7th bunker was completely submerged. In the winter, this course can get really soggy in the low areas. Fairways and rough were uneven, with some patches of rough really thick, and some hard pan. During the summer, the clay fairways can bake out so club down to avoid trouble.
Design features lots of doglegs and is very hilly. Most tee boxes have uneven lies, including a few with ridiculous mounds. Routing uses hills pretty well although the course reminds me of a poor man's Poppy Hills.
Play can be very slow at times. Doak 3.
Great course and a good challenge.
One improvement that needs to be addressed are the Back tees. They should be scrapped to make them level. Most of them have humps in the middle. Easy fix in the offseason.
Course needs TLC
Its been a number of years since I have played Kayak point so I decided to try it again on Sunday as the last time I played I remembered how nice it was (15 years ago). So now the bad......I actually played and struck the ball well but was shocked on the course condition.....just run down and in need of repair. Every tee box was crowned and uneven...it was a challenge to find a place to tee the ball up many divots and overall bare spots as well. The greens were OK but tons of ball marks that were not repaired......5 hours and fifteen minutes to play ...too slow. overall if your going to play I would only recommend the hot deal at no more than 25 bucks. Sorry but this course is in need of TLC
Greens are way to hard, fairways are very holey an rutty, Course needs water
Girlfriend would hit a very short drive but would roll down hill a hundred yards. Greens fall off the back, hard to hold. Never needed a driver
Always a fun tract but pace too slow, common on weekends
As usual the pace of play on a Sunday was very slow. The coarse was in very good shape, most of the greens putted fast and true. Staff was helpful but couldn't improve the pace of play.
Really one of the jewels around here
Old growth trees make this one of my favorite courses, not two holes are alike and latest at the third hole (featuring a water lily packed little lake on the right) any stress just falls off. The course is challenging - make sure to bring enough balls, these trees seem to gobble them up like crazy and the common "clongs" somewhere followed by a loud groan do not originate with woodpeckers. Well worth it, though. The course is also long and hilly, a cart definitely enhances if not your experience then the one of the groups behind.
Everyone told me its there favorite course... I agree!!
This course defines Pacific Northwest golf with its hilly terrain, large greens, and undulating fairways guarded by tremendously tall conifers. I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely return..
Lots of trees
This course can be a lot of fun if you can keep your ball out of the trees. I had a good day the day I played, the greens were in great shape, the weather was good and pace of play was ok , we were a twosome behind a threesome but the players In front of them were a little slow.
Beautiful setting, Challenging Course
We enjoyed the course, pace of play, setting, condition, everything about the course. The only negative comment I'd make is that many of the tee boxes were not level but not a serious issue for my calibre of golfer.
This course has superb value
Nice course, friendly staff, great price, what more can you ask?
find your target
Kayak is a great course for anyone who likes a challenge.
Risk and reward on so many holes that you need to pick your battles. Attack when you can, but be smart as to when you do.
A very good course !
This course has lots of hills but very playable, the greens were in great shape but very hard to read. It had been raining all day so the greens were very slow but I think on a dry day they would be fast. We intend to play it again soon.
Tough and gorgeous.
Lots of hills. Very tricky greens. Great shape. One of the better courses. Go play it if you dare. If you don't hit straight, bring lotsa balls. Maybe some white dimpled ones too.
this course requires hitting the ball where you aim it
Lost more balls than usual into the rough. Some very narrow holes.
This course is OK
the course was OK. The fairways were dry, even for a muni, and the ball ran into the woods if hit towad the edges. The greens were nice.
