Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018 and transformed into Disc Golf Course.
Kayak Point Golf Club is one of Washington's most popular courses. It was named one of the "Top 50 Public Courses to Play" by Golf Digest, and the Seattle Times called it a "must play" course. Located in Stanwood, Kayak Point is less than an hour north of Seattle. The layout was carefully carved from an old growth forest of firs and cedars. You'll enjoy scenic views of the Olympic Mountains on several holes. The layout will test you with sloping fairways and large, immaculately manicured greens. There are more than 30 greenside bunkers at Kayak Point, but water comes into play on only two holes. The spacious golf course doesn't have any parallel fairways and it's not short on length at over 6,700 yards from the back tees.

greens are in the worse shape I have ever seen in all the years playing kayak
nice course, but most of the greens are in bad condition.
the golf now price was good but the round did not come with a cart/ it was for walking only ...not a good move on Kayak Point's part..
dont understand why they dont include a riding cart it's not like the place crawling with a lot of people...there.
very fun course to play
Play last week after all this rain and course fairway not so wet after all but the green need to be work on lot of dead spot, but I'm sure they will have them correct this by late spring time.
Fairway kind of narrow so be straight lot of elevation change so must give that into consideration with club selection.
Best Course In The Area!
I LOVE this golf course. Great layout and best value in the area for sure! The staff is friendly and the price is right. I will definitely be back again.
Dissappointed
I have been playing Kayak Point for years and it has always been an enjoyable course to play. Today I was so terribly dissappointed to see it in such a state of disrepair. Not sure what happened, but most of the greens were riddled with patches of dead grass or no grass at all, just sand. Certainly uncharactaristic for this course, usually by this time of year the greens are some of the best in the area. Being a County owned course, I sure hope that budget cuts have not affected the upkeep of Kayak Point. It would be a shame to see this gem be ruined by it.
Great Course
This course is tough yet very fun to play!!! I would definitely play it again.
this course has improved greatly
We played this course two weeks ago and it was in need of some TLC. The greens were terrable. What a change. The greens were recovering from berin punched and are on their way to being great. The course is well drained and except for total monsunes stand up well.
Can't beat the value.
Yes they did just punch and sand the greens but I still love this course, the most bang for the buck in the area. You get senior rates at 50 years of age, who else does that. I Joined the men's club for $60 and now I can play a round of 18 Monday thru Friday for $15.40 walking, and with a power cart it only sets me back $23.40. What a bargain. Make sure you check out the website.
Good price and quality.
I have a good round with my friends. Challenge good course, green was not that good yet, it was still spring time maintenance.
Double booked, tee time purchased in adavanced was not honored
Nearly six hour round due to double booking by course. I made advance reservation but that time was not honored and we teed off over half an hour later. Fairways in decent shape but tees and greens horrible.
Do not play here when it's wet
$20 greens fees are great. But this was the second time in 2 weeks we played there and there was no mention of the punched and sanded greens. Just pitiful. And there seems to be a trend at golf courses to charge stadium prices for food and drinks. $3 for a bottle of lipton iced tea? really? And tell us that it's unlawful to bring our own food and drinks?
This used to be one of the jewels of the northwest. They should try harder
Good Pacific Northwest Golf
Kayak Point is an entertaining golf course with many interesting holes. It requires accuracy but is not overly demanding off the tee. The only major criticism I would have is that some of the evalation changes are pretty extreme on some of the holes.
The greens had just been sanded the day I played, so it was difficult to judge the quality of the greens. The course was not too wet for this time of the year. Overall, Kayak Point is a solid golf course and a good value for your golf dollar.
great course
great course ,must keep it in the short grass off the tee to score well here,if you think your way around the course you can shoot well
Best value for the buck!
From the very first tee it was a great experience especially since this is the rainy season. The course drains well and the greens were in excellent shape.
A good bad weather course.
A good bad weather course. Despite it being a cold febuary day the course was dry (no standing water) and well maintained.
Great Value
I like this course a lot. The only bummer about this place is that some of the facilities have been neglected. This course has the potential to be a resort of some kind but due to it's location it does not seem to get the people out there playing it and investing into it as much as it should.
Great course, great atmosphere ... food is average.
well kept for winter season
well kept for the season (winter-wet) greens were a bit spongy
Considering two weeks of freezing temps, it's held up nicely
This course presents a great PNW golf atmosphere, as only two or three houses are visible through the run of your round. Tree lined course, but open enough to allow for missed shots. A little soggy on and around the greens, but the course has held up well considering the recent freezing weather and its setting in the trees. Didn't encounter any soggy lies in the fairways or rough. Course is free of debris and only has two temporary winter tees in place. Overall this round was a very good value via hot deal pricing.
Suprisingly Dry. On a 1 - 10? a Solid 9
Surprisingly dry. The week prior (Thanksgiving Week) Western Washington had record rainfall and was concerned about the course conditions until I arrived to the first hole's green. Actually the greens were in great shape and the ball ran well. I was surprised. I actually would have gone back the following day if I didn’t have to drive from Redmond . This course is a great challenge. It was fun. Go...
Just played today 7/25/2013, first time since I posted the disappointed review. Thanks to a lot of hard work by the crew at Kayak Point the greens are close to being restored to their original great condition. Thank you Steve(Course Superintendent) for your continued dedication to the betterment of Kayak Point golf course and your assurance that it will continue to improve. Looking forward to the work on the tee boxes. I would love to see Kayak Point back in the top 100 golf courses again in the future. It is still an enjoyable and challenging tract to play and with continued commitment to maintenance it will soon again be one of my favorite golf courses in Western Washington to play.
