About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018 and transformed into Disc Golf Course.
Kayak Point Golf Club is one of Washington's most popular courses. It was named one of the "Top 50 Public Courses to Play" by Golf Digest, and the Seattle Times called it a "must play" course. Located in Stanwood, Kayak Point is less than an hour north of Seattle. The layout was carefully carved from an old growth forest of firs and cedars. You'll enjoy scenic views of the Olympic Mountains on several holes. The layout will test you with sloping fairways and large, immaculately manicured greens. There are more than 30 greenside bunkers at Kayak Point, but water comes into play on only two holes. The spacious golf course doesn't have any parallel fairways and it's not short on length at over 6,700 yards from the back tees.

Good Shape, Poor on Pace. Probably isolated event.
I enjoyed the 12 holes I played in 4.5 hours. The course was in good shape and the greens were well kept. I started on the back because of a high school tournament that was beginning and was allowed to go off early. This was great until I caught up with multiple groups playing on a geologic timescale. This was not due to the tournament, as they had yet to make the turn. The course was well maintained, but no ranger moved the slow play along. As a traveler, I used rentals. Not recommended. These were not full sets of clubs, and only contained irons 6-p. I was not allowed to "borrow" a wedge from the lost and found to complete the short irons. I left a bit disappointed due to the extremely slow pace and the pro shops unwillingness to rectify relatively minor complications, or provide a "rain check" for 9 holes due to extremely slow play. The last two holes I played took over an hour. With that said, I'd play this course again under more favorable conditions.
kayak point golf course
the course was great the people working inside we're great my only complaint the deal did not come with a cart and the cart cost more than the golf.
Nice course
The conditions were pretty good. A few of the greens could use a little work but overall I was impressed. The pace of play was a little slow. Course was in good shape. I will golf there again. Twilight rate was worth the money.
Beautiful Course
We had the course to ourselves on Easter Sunday. It's a beautiful course, well maintained with great greens. It looked like they had been punched recently, but were growing back nicely. Fairways were damp in spots but in really good shape.
The only drawback was the drive from Seattle, traffic was pretty heavy on the way to the course.
Once there, it was lovely.
Still wet, but worth the price.
Greens were just aerified last week, so greens are still a bit sandy, but will be in good shape in another week or so. Seems like their budget has taken a hit this winter, and they haven't hired extra greenskeepers for the summer yet, so there is a bunch of course maintenance that needs work, like bunkers, drainage, etc. Still one of my favorite courses! Very wet in a lot of spots, but what course isn't this time of year? Restaurant employees were very nice and accommodating. Pro Shop employee was excellent!
Golfing at Kayak point
The golf course was still a little wet, but it was okay for the price of the green fee at $10.00 per player. It is a good challenging golf course for better golfers and extremely challenging for beginning golfers
This course was very wet
Not worth the money for the condition of the course!
great course, friendly staff
played here several years ago and it hasn't changed. it is a beautiful course, lots of trees, fairways are great and the greens were fast, even with a little rain.
Favorite in the area
Been playing this course for many years and still love it. Make the trip up from Seattle on Sunday morning at least 15 times a year.I like the way the holes are isolated from each other and each has it's own personality. It is a challenging course, and you have a definite advantage if you know where to place your tee shots..The greens are usually in great shape. My only knock on the place is that the fairways are kind of thin. You can hit a great drive and wind up with a very thin lie on some hard pan. I will continue to play here because I love the layout
They used to have a great mens club here. Sadly it no longer exists..
What Happen to Kayak Point Golf Course?
Played Sunday Morning and the mens bathroom look and smelled like a outhouse. I love this golf course, but it needs to be cleaned up. I felt like I had to take a shower after using the restroom. No accuse for dirty restroom. The course itself was in great conditions.
Worth the drive
Tough walk unless you're extremely fit. Carts are only $13/rider so probably a good investment. Course knowledge a great help in selecting what to play off the tee as you can get into trouble on some holes if you are a long hitter. Make sure you have a good map or working GPS to get there.
incredible greens, serene environs
Best greens I've played, firm, but not overly fast, roll true if you read it right. Loved playing in the forest, quiet and aromatic cedar surrounds you. Lots of elevation changes make the holes dramatic, but a lot of work if you walk - I recommend a cart if you're not in shape.
Disappointed
Started off bad with a larger than expected cart fee and then a 45 minute delay tee time. Should have asked for a refund and decided to play the front nine twice and barley got 17 holes in. Fairways were rock hard on certain holes and very poor in places around the green.
If having a course deal, expect the pace to be very slow
The course and staff are great. The pace of play was not. Waited at every hole. Had a tee time at 2:52, didnt actually get to tee off until 315. Did not get done with 18 holes until 820pm. If there is a course deal, expect people to quickly take advantage of it and expect pace to be slow.
Beautiful views
Definitely a course to play if you are in NW.
The views of the fairways as well as quietness are excellent.
The World in not Flat
had to laugh when some visitors to the area asked if the course was an easy walk. NOT. But it can be walked but I recommend a cart. Narrow in spots and very enjoyable. A little tough on new golfers . Played it twenty years ago and was glad too finally get back. Course in great shape even after two days of rain. Won:t wait twenty years to play it again.
Kayak
Was drizzling when we arrived but decided to play anyway. Happy we did. Fairways were good. Green receptive yet fast. Staff was great. A must play for WA golf!!!! We are hard core walkers and advise anyone else to get a cart!
Just okay
Beautiful wooded setting. Must be careful off the tee. Course and turf conditions were below average. Spongy greens with lots of footprints. Saw at least a dozen over-watered areas mostly near the greens that are unplayable. Fairly dry fairways (as expected in August). Hardly any flat tee boxes.
Noisy gasoline carts. Virtually no suspension; extremely bumpy ride.
Probably could be a nice course with an infusion of $.
not what it use to be
I use to love this course but the condition it's in now will keep me away. The tee boxes were not flat, the fairway was rock hard and the overall condition is a far cry from when this course was a top course.
It's still a good $20 course if you live close but not worth the drive from Seattle in it's current condition.
