good for mid-week twighlight
Course was in great condition. Try and get off before 6 pm with the sun setting faster.
Hot and fast
Playin as a twosome we had no trouble getting on. The day was warm and the greens were very fast. That made it all the more fun ! Haven't played here in years(moved back recently ) and remembered just how's we love this course. It is really beautiful as well as challenging
Great afternoon
Easy and relaxed round
Hidden Lake's courses are both fairly easy. This time out I played the Old Course at a pretty decent deal.
Historically, I've avoided this facility for anything but an early round due to the horrid pace of play that I've experienced before. With a 1pm tee time, I was paired up with three gents, all riding - I elected to walk - and it's an easy walk. We walked off the 18th green at 5:05 pm. That's right! A 4:05 round on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the height of the season. I was shocked and rather happy with that time, not so much with my score.
The old course is a classic style course - smaller greens, tighter fairways. It's still very easy as the facility keeps fescue and longer grasses down, so if you're hitting way offline as I was, you'll still be in play. The sand was amazing - I've played at much higher end courses and been disappointed by the sand - not here; it was just the right depth and firmness to be playable. The greens were rolling true, but not so fast as to make putting an exacerbating experience.
I'll likely be back and will hope for a similar pace of play experience.
I was expecting more from a Clublink course
A nice established parkland course. The weather lately has been good for the turf - lots of sun and rain and this course was not in as good shape as many of the other courses I have played recently - especially for a Clublink course. The fairways were wide and forgiving - no problem for any level of skill, not much elevation - easy to walk if you wanted some exercise. Nice length to the holes but the fairways were quite bumpy in a cart. The location for the next tee boxes were well marked. Greens were fast and true. This was just an average course and not worth the premium price that they charge. There are a lot of other courses that I would play before I played this again.
Not worth the money disappointed
Sorry $71 dollars walking for this course not worth it overpriced . Greens were great tough very fast and true . I will not play it again sorry
Never disappoints
Love playing the Old Course at Hidden Lake, it had been a number of years since I had played there but it was still enjoyable and challenging. The conditions were very good and the mature Old course never disappoints. A great day.
Hidden Lake Golf Club - Old Course
Old style tree lined course better have your driving intact. The greens could be better but run true
great beginners challenge course
Played 18 holes on the old course and thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't hydrate or eat enough and that caused for a bad back nine The course was in great shape and the layout provides plenty of variety. The greens on some holes were rolling true , other were bumpy and about average.
Pace
Dont know why you let 4 brutal golfers walking play infront of two guys in a cart ?
Great course for beginner
Excellent course. My wife is a beginner and she enjoyed immensely. There were no one behind us that was pressing us to play fast.
Staff were courteous and understanding. My wife does not feel comfortable pairing up with other 2 some and starters were accommodating. I truly appreciated their understanding.
Golfers delight
This is a very well maintained course and fun to play. A great course for the novice golfer and the low handicappers.
Old Course is great if you're still learning
I've played this course a few times jn the past. Some of the fairways had dead/bare grass but where there was grass if was well maintained. The old course is nice and open, helpful if you're still trying to learn the game. I played in a twosome at 1230 on a Tuesday. Took is 3.5 hours wirh a cart. Great pace
Good Start
It looks like some investment in preparation this year has paid off. Greens have come in much faster this year. Overall course shape is good based on weather so far.
Great course which brings you back
Great course, average difficulty (compared to the New Course which is more challenging) but you can use all the clubs from your bag. Staff is friendly and helpful. A clublink course which invites you back.
Holiday Monday
Fast pace of play 3hrs 15 minutes. Good condition. Staff very good.
Marshall's
No one in front off us and no one behind us
Golfing with a client, both playing well
The Marshall kept coming over ever 3-4 holes and annoying us about our speed of play
Really bad etikit....
My customer, whom I paid for the golf
And dropped over 300.00 in food and beer at the course, said he had a great day but was quite annoyed at the constant pestering Marshall
After that I was quite upset that he had that stuck in his mind
Not good at all
Great value for the money!
Played 18 holes on the old course and thoroughly enjoyed it. The course was in great shape and the layout provides plenty of variety. The greens were rolling true and quite fast.
Slow, Slow, Slow
This was a very busy weekend for Hidden Lake, when we arrived there were a number of groups waiting. Not just waiting for their tee times but waiting to get a cart. The course had run completely out of cart and you had to wait til someone returned their cart before you could get one. This should of been a warning sign. Every hole and every shot we took we had to wait. This round took over 5 hours and we had to complete this in darkness.
Slowest Pace of Play in the GTA
While I have no gripes with the staff or the facilities, the course itself has some issues. The course condition was very poor, especially the greens, granted it is nearing the end of the golf season but the maintenance should be better. The worst part was the pace of play, in my opinion you should be able to play this course in a few hours at the most , it is not that difficult. The problem when I went was that they booked and sent as many people out on the course as they could. This resulted in an incredibly slow pace of play (about 6 hours). At one point, on the 10th hole, there were three groups of 4 on the hole, something I have never seen playing golf.
In the end, I'm sure it can be a great course when it is well maintained and managed, but I would not recommend it.
