enjoyable
1st time need a map on score card to show hidden hazards cost me a couple of stokes but it was an enjoyable round would definitely play again
Bridgewater G and CC
The course was in excellent shape. although the fairways and greens were soft due to recent rain, the greens rolled fast and true. I enjoy playing any Stanley Thompson course but I truly enjoy this one. A great value.
very nice layout
very nice course would play again friendly staff tough greens
Bridgewater July 2014
We tee'd off at 7:30am. The course was still fairly wet with dew. Fairways were in good condition. Rough was thick. Greens ran fast once they dried out. Sand traps were hard packed and caused a few skulls! Desk service was fast and courteous, but we were disappointed that there was no food or even quality coffee service available fro early tee times.
On-line price was well worth the round. Would recommend!
What you've heard is true
I've heard this course was nice by word of mouth and have read some of the reviews on here and I have to agree this course is excellent. Highly, highly maintained. Hats off to the grounds crew. Challenging but fair. 9 and 18 are my favorite holes. The greens I'd rate at the premium level. Fast and the ball stays on the line you hit it on. Staff was friendly and we seen the cart girl on several occasions. I'd play this course again in a heartbeat and we got on for $42 through GolfNow with a cart. Another Niagara gem.
Great course
Best in the area. Great location and easy to get to. A bit of a challenge but fun to play
A Niagara gem
This course, and especially the greens were in fantastic shape. We thoroughly enjoyed our round and can't wait to return.
Was not able to complete 18 holes due to rain.,but course has great features
due to weather conditions (rain) only able to complete 12 holes, however I was impressed with the courseand will definitely play it again.
Challenge golf mental capabilities.
Golf Course was a great experience. Greens were true. Overall the course was in great shape. Cordial staff made day all the more enjoyable.
Great course at a better time
Course was saturated due to heavy rains, but all in all played very well. Looking forward to going back.
I will play it again .
Excellent, well maintained course. Friendly staff.
Classic Stanley. Thompson
Tough greens, long par 4s,mature course, don't. Missthese greens, play short of the pin.
A top 5 course in Niagara
From tee to green this course is stunning. Maintenance wise, this course is better then all but 2 courses in Niagara. Can't say much more then that, other then the mowers were a constant sight on every other hole. They did stop, but some people could see that as a distraction.
The layout is classic Stanley Thompson, another small point might be to have better direction to the next tee for players unfamiliar with the course.
Something i did notice was a disrespect feeling from the members of the course and interestingly enough i see other reviews commenting on this as well. I guess this can be expected from a course that was recently opened to the public after being a private club. Before we tee'd off on the first hole a member overheard it was my first time playing this course and made a rude comment to someone in my group to keep up pace of play.
Anyways, if some of their members can chill out everyone can finally enjoy this great course.
A True Gem
A challenging and scenic course, another Stanley Thompson Gem.
Challenges your ability to place your shots , tests your course management skills. Always in Great shape.
Great design and the price is right.
I love this course... it is beautiful and challenging enough for me.
great fairways and greens
not too difficult, greens are quite flat but very fast and great condition
Terrible overall experience...
Begins with an old member questioning my right to be there...goes on to ankle high grass on the fairway, no map on the course card...in fact no maps anywhere. This is a course created by the renowned architect Stanley Thompson, original and interesting and challenging but if you're playing there for the first time...a map is necessary.
To continue...racing lawn mowers at every green, totally ignoring the players, Eurocopter test-flying helicopters overhead, not a peaceful experience.
No markers at any of the tees (the lawnmower men removed them), the grass, if you strayed off of the fairway, your ball is GONE! Even ON the fairway it was difficult to find your ball.
I played a good game and mostly stayed on the fairway but still lost balls. The greens were very fast and smooth though most of them had debris from the lawnmowers scattered all over them.
I could go on and on...
I was looking forward to playing at Bridgewater but I know that I will never play there again.
I know that I would NEVER be want to be a member.
Typical Thompson design
Enjoyed our day golfing but putting a 5some ahead of us and saying "they'll be quick" which they weren't, is unacceptable with a pair behind our 4some. The course is in good shape but the bunkers were hard as clay and need more sand.
Gem of a Course
This course is very well maintained and is a hidden gem in the Niagara region. Bridgewater is a very challenging course and should be included with such courses at Whirlpool. Typical Stanley Thompson design. You can expect the course to play approx 5 strokes above your normal handicap due to the difficulty reading the subtle breaks in the greens. We played here twice this year, the first time the rough was really long and acted like a penalty stroke due to the inability to advance the ball 70 yds (rainy day). This time, the course played easier but the greens were fast and true. Highly recommend playing here
