long rough
the rough is long course in good condition rained half way through our round but we played on
Martin Course- Uncut grass hampered play
We played here on the 27th as well and course conditions had still not improved by the 29th. Greens and fairways were in fair to good shape. Second cuts were either excessively long and in countless instances and areas not cut at all. Frustrating for all players as we continually searched for “lost “ balls just off of the fairways. Pace of play severely hampered as well as hampered scoring opportunities trying to “hack out” of second cuts. Weather had been suitable for grass cutting for days so we cannot understand the poor course maintenance. Additional trimming was virtually non-existent. No raking,so clumps of mown grass added to the poor conditions and increased everyone’s scores owing to more “lost” balls- even 2-3 feet from fairway cuts- Argh! This is the worst shape we’ ve seen this course in the past three years and conditions didn’t improve over the week. Won’t be going back any time soon until we hear from co-players that things have improved.
close to home
pace of play is good staff are good greens are tough lots of breaks can play in 3 hours
Below average
The greens were in good condition. The fairways were average. The second cuts however were terrible. Lawn cutting was long overdue and no raking had going on. Everyone in our foursome was continually searching for balls in overly long grass. It definitely hampered the rate of play as well as scoring opportunities. I have golfed that this course many times in the past three years and this is by far the worst shape that the grass cutting has been. I don’t understand why as the weather leading up to the round was pleasant for several days. Further no raking occurred so you continually found your balls hidden under clumps of grass if not in long grass. Also, no trimming occurred around the T off blocks, under benches, around garbage bins etc. The pace of play was slow but this is understandable as it was a sunny Sunday and many golfers wanted to go out. Normally, I would recommend this course but only if a significant improvement is made in the keeping of the grounds.
Average course
Average course.Really bumpy ride on a cart. Good price In today's market. As with most public courses play tends to be slow with no help from course officials to make ridiculously slow players move.
golf
LOST BALLS OFF FAIRWAY DUE TO GRASS CLUNK NOT GOOD.
very hilly course
a couple of very long par 3s , but some short par 4s - a tough front nine .
Less than a Dollar a Hole .Priced right for the wet conditions and cold temps unlike some other courses trying to get Prime Rate for this time of year . Will play again in nicer conditions
Good course
At this time of year balls were disappearing before your eyes, other than that it was a fun game.
Slow, Slow play
The course had groups playing with a conference or company event. There was no announcement prior to the time I teed off. The play was extremely slow. I quit after four holes which took 90 minutes.
A ranger came by and asked how things were. I explained the situation, and he drove away without comment.
This is a poor course at good times - a way to get in a quick practice round. But, allowing slow play with no supervision of pace of play is ridiculous.
Needs Marshals
I've played this course a few times now and every round I get held up by slow players. Now I understand this is a city course and you're going to get a lot of new golfers just based on price alone. Don't get me wrong. It's a great course for the money with some challenging holes and great views.
That being said it would help a lot if they had a couple marshals out there making sure play keeps moving. I was part of a twosome. We played the first hole rapidly and then caught up to a group of ladies who were 3 to a cart and were obviously not the best at the game. They were not offering to let us play through. I even called the pro shop to have someone sent out. When I got a hold of them they said those ladies were only playing 9. Since I was on the 6th they thought I should just deal with it.
Slow and confusing
Chedoke has 2 golf courses the bedoe and the martin which is the lesser or the two. There was a tournament on the Bedoe so the Martin was very busy. The tee off areas are a little confusing. The greens were fast but there are not many straight puts on the whole course and if your above the hole good luck.
Beautiful weather , beautiful golf course, challenging long par 4,par 3, had a great time , excellent conditions, very interesting dog leg, par 4. Great Deal.
