Not bad conditions with how hot it has been
The course seemed not the dry with all the heat we have had, the pace of play was very slow on the front. No Marshall around, but course was a good shot of hamilton. I would play again if a good deal came up
Pleasantly surprised.
Considering the drought in southern Ontario this spring and early summer, the Chedoke Martin course was in surprisingly good condition. The fairways and greens were well watered and very green. The rough was......well rough, as it should be, but because of the lack of rain it was short and thus very playable.
As I am in my early seventies and the course is very hilly with a number of lengthy uphill holes, I would recommend taking a cart.
Not bad for the price
Haven't played there since 2014. Only played once last year due to an injury. It was ok for the first round this year, Although the shared green between 3 and 13 freaked me out. Also the new tee location on 14. Makes the tee shot a lot more challenging. Will definitely play there again to sharpen my game for a more challenging course later.
A Bad Experience
We played the Martin course and found it to be very poor experience all around. The fairways were undulating; not a flat lie anywhere other than the tee box. Also, some tee boxes were positioned close to others making it potentially dangerous for errant tee shots. There was also walking trails cutting through the course making it quite dangerous for the folks walking in from of tee shots. The greens were poorly cut making it difficult to gauge the ball roll. Our fees did not include the carts fees and the added costs was quite substantial making this a really poor value for money. we won't be going back to this course.
Good Place for spring warmup
I hadn't played the Martin side of the club in probably 15 years .... so we gave it another try. It is relatively short and a touch confusing for the layout in a few spots so you will need to pay attention.
We got behind a 4 that were ungodly slow towards the end of the first nine (we started on the back) So we played the 2nd, a par 5 twice (nobody behind us) and caught them by the 5th hole. The point being the Martin does attract the wack hack and slash groups. We played mid week and mid day.
Course is in good shape and is a cart must! as it slopes up and down the side of the mountain.
Need a map to navigate the course
as the title suggests this course is awfully laid out, had times searching for the next hole as there was never a clear path or signage saying.
Great course
This is a great course to play. Although it is a city run course it is well kept we'll run and just great value. Love playing here!
martin
hilly course lots of walking elevation changes going up and down the escarpment
Good for the money
Good course.... Greens are rough and the Martin course is layed out odd... Sharing one green between 2 holes.
And omg the goose droppings. Never seen so much on a course.
All in all though a great value.
Good short course with poor signage.
Directions from hole to hole non existent in many cases. A major turn-off.
This course is finished.
One word. Poor. Piles of dirt on the fairway, goose turds all over the greens that were in rough shape anyway. Pace was turtle and no Marshall to speed it up... It's up to you folks.
Course in great condition!!
Great Golfnow Hotdeal, course in great shape considering the lack of rain over recent weeks. Fairways were immaculate, greens were a bit on the slow side. Staff were friendly and courteous and great weather made for a wonderful day!!
Difficult day
I was golfing on Sunday, I spent more of 4 hours and a half to finish that round. Two guys of our foursome leave the course after nine holes.
In the hole seven one guy of staff ask me to switch my car, we moved my bag and other things, we finished to move to a new car, the new one hasn't the key to star.
So, I spent almost 20 min waiting other guy with the key.
That car was awful.
sorry, is my fist bad review.
but believe me they deserve it.
Great course
It was my first time to play the course, I was surprised how nice the course was. Food in the club house was very reasonable. I will definitely go again.
Rained out
Nice course, lots of up and down elevation, not exactly the walkers dream course.
Paul's review of the Martin
This is a course I have played countless times. I have never seen it in such good condition as it was today. Excellent. Not a super difficult course, but the greens are a challenge to read due to the slope of the escarpment. The only downfall on this day was there was a golf tournament. The starter had no idea we were to tee off at 4pm. However, we went off the back nine and it was lucky for us as two fawns ran across the front of the green. The Martin and Beddoe are two hidden gems in such a busy city.
Chedoke
First time playing at this mountain base course. Lots of hills to navigate with the cart so best to drive slowly as the ride is quite bumpy. Would certainly play again at this course.
The course is in good shape
Course conditions were really good. It took two of us less than 4 hours to play 18 on the Martin.
Would return. Golfnow was quick, easy and very reasonable.
Great course
very well maintained and a challanging course for my skill level. I would not walk this course it is very hilly.
