Best of soggy conditions
As far as city courses go this one is say is decent. It was the day after a good rain soaking and all in all I'd say it was manageable in most places. There were a few soakers though. Carts weren't being allowed out which made it a challenging walk as it's on the edge of the mountain. One real annoying factor was that there were no distance markers out. Makes it challenging.
Still soggy bottom, boys...and ladies!
I play this track all the time, and like the fact you never get a good lie after a decent drive. In theory, this should make you a better ball striker...as I sad, it is a theory! Anyways...I played this course with my wife and son the other day and the course is still suffering from being water logged. It was extremely squishy in spots and there are still several patches of grass that can't be cut. This will resolve itself soon and it will be back to it's old devilish self in no time!
Hidden Gem
Great place to play a round at an affordable price. Played here a couple times and really enjoy it!
The coarse is fairly difficult due to uneven lies throughout the coarse.
The coarse is in great shape even though it was extremely wet the day after a huge rain storm. I haven't played it in a few years. I was pleasantly surprised to the re-arranging of tee block 5. That was always a dangerous location.
gem right in the city
This was my first time playing after years of driving by. it won't be the last. Since the it was a monday in the fall, traveling through the course was fast. Loved the elevated tees and the views along the escarpment were beautiful.
Nice Public Course to Play
The pacing is good and the distance on each hole is just right. The par 5's have amazing view.
Tricky
Tight fairways, small greens and ridiculous pin placements on some greens make it a challenge. 260 yard par 3 and 2 holes that are the same length but are a par 4 and par 5 . Fairways in great shape however some green were a bit beat up.
no week ends
during the week the players are what you expect from golfers, week ends totally out of control loud a lot of drunks
Plain and simple
Simple layout. Tough greens. Lots of yellow grass. Needs watering.
chedoke
city course good shape short executive type. easy to get in a round. just off 403 so easy to get to
Nice course. forgiving fairways
a good course at a great price...great speed and wide open fairways..nice to play again
City gem
Love the mountain course. Challenging yet fun
Fairways too undulating!
Not a fan of this course.
A wasted gem of a course...
I grew up playing Chedoke - both courses - but moved away. I've played it a few times recently and have been surprised to see the decline in conditions and, in this most recent outing, the club house service.
The course was, for the most part, rock hard... and that despite the fact that the sprinklers were running constantly. My group decided to play 'winter rules', moving our balls to patches of not-dead-yet grass to avoid damaging our clubs.
The club house was another matter. We stopped just before the normal lunch hour and the only staffer (young girl) couldn't answer questions about what food from the menu was actually available... she was pretty sure at least half of the items weren't. She then had to go find the cook, who arrived in a kitchen uniform that hadn't been cleaned in a while. Our food took a long time to come out and was only so-so.
It's too bad management doesn't care more about creating a golfing and dining experience worthy of this Stanley Thompson-designed course.
An Odd One
This was the first City-Run Golf course that I have played on. Now I'm not sure if this course is aimed at locals only, however, if you come from out of town, even with a GPS, it is impossible to find the entrance to this Golf Course.
When you do find the Golf Course and Park, you enter the Club House. The Pro Shop isn't in the Club House, it is by a booth near the First Tee. The Pro Shop does not have a washroom, it is by another booth in between the two courses Martin & Beddoe which are the two courses at this facility.
The Golf course is great. It offers its challenges, however, it is great course for boosting your confidence. The course has a lot of undulations so on a lot of Par 5's you don't really get much run off your Driver.
I played in the morning around 8:30 AM. We are currently in drought like conditions in Southern Ontario, however, this course is obsessed with keeping its fairways green. I don't see the point of watering the fairways when the sun is beating down so hard. It is only going to burn the grass more. I'm no Golf Superintendent or ecology expert, however, I do know that it doesn't rain when it is sunny. So ideally you should be watering the fairways before sunrise and after the sun start to set.
Anyway with the sprinklers on, on almost every hole it was annoying to say the least.
The craziest part about this course though is that it shares a facility with a walking and biking trail. People are always on the course taking their strolls. The craziest hole is the 16 Hole. Firstly there is no signage on this that tells you how to move from hole to hole. Furthermore, there are no defined pathways on the course.
To get to the 16th hole from the 15th you actually drive past the 6th hole where someone could be playing. You actually drive through the hole.
Then when you are the Tee Box on the 16th Hole you have path that bikers and walkers are using all the time. I never knew this and as I looked up, I saw this lady walking across with here headphones on. This was followed by two more bikers and an advanced age woman before I could tee off.
As you drive towards the green, you see a tiny sign on the side on a tree telling you that Hikers and Bikers could be using this path. How about putting this sign closer to the Tee Box.
There is a similar sharing of facilities on the 18th hole.
no water , little rough
played with same ball the whole round for second time in 10 days , a very user-friendly course for the average golfer . twosome completed 18 holes in 2 1/2 hours .
Chedoke
Good course for 30 bones with cart. Course in fair shape considering the dry, hot summer we've had so far. Staff a little abrupt, maybe was the heat, but not winning any customer service awards. Would play there again.
