good course for a fair price
Played in a foursome and started with no delay, finished in four hours. Course was in good condition and the price was reasonable, would definitely recommend it to a friend
Great course
Great course, friendly and efficient. Golfnow...great price
Great municipal course
Martin is the easier of the two courses at Chedoke but I still found it to have several challenging holes. The terrain is definitely not flat so the ball frequently had many interesting lies. Fortunately the fairways are quite wide so you don't get into too much difficulty. The greens were in very good shape. The cups were often positioned on slopes so you had to plan your putts carefully. The course was not busy and took us about 3.5 hr to play. A cart is highly recommended because of the hilly terrain.
Typical gov course
It is such a shame, with a small amount of effort the layout and scenery of this property could be must play. The scenery and potential to make this course awesome is there.
But, it is what it is, a City trying to make everyone happy, dog walkers and runners need to be where they belong. Sprayed a shot and almost took out a dog and the walker, no fun.
However, who am I to say maybe you like this type of course, I do not.
Most of the time you are driving around looking for the next hole as paths are poor.
And there are blind spots, do not expect to yell 4 when you hit ball into the woods. But, the ball goes through the woods and can hit golfers standing on tee. First time you would not know, but those who do need to be on the look out and understand they will get hit by an errant shot.
Wake up Hamilton and advise of potential for this.
Martin
Thought this course was in great shape kids had a links feel to it with all the little hills on the fairway. Only one drawback there was a fairly big rock under the sand on the second or third hole my son of coarse hit down and clanked off this rock
Good conditions
This course played very well, conditions were nice and pace of play was very good. Would reccomend you give this course a try.
Danger Zone
After reading the reviews of this city course, our expectations werent too high but thought it still would be worth the visit and the golfnow rate was reasonable for a quick 18.
this course should be bulldozed. The conditions of tee blocks, fairways, roughs and green are horendous. Then to top it off, the danger on this course is crazy; there are tee blocks that cross over other fairways; there are greens directly beside the next tee block; there is a city nature trail that cuts through the course so you have to wait for joggers, walkers to pass through; there are paths from other holes that have to cross your fairway to get to their next tee block. You are a sitting duck out there to get nailed by a ball! and the course is only about 5800 yards. for a few more dollars, there a tons of better courses to play. This was our worst round of golf EVER! stay clear.
lay out
I am not a golfer but the layout of this place is wacked. Crossing over fairways I am sure that contributes to the slow play
Hometown course
I like coming to this course because it is close by. The prices are great through Golf now. I enjoy bringing my friends who also like this course because it is a challenge, but, not a difficult challenge.
Great value for this hidden gem
Great course layout with very challenging holes. Grew up in Hamilton, never played here. Thanks Golf Now!
Good for Beginners
This course is good for beginners as all the fairways are pretty much straight and wide. Difficult to lose a ball, however the course navigation is a bit confusing (we had to use the map a few times) and the cart path to #15 crosses another fairway. Public paths mean that you will be about to tee off and someone will come up the walking path across your fairway. One up note is that the starting Marshall was the most informative I have ever had.
Martin course
Very slow with no Marshal but it wasn't very busy so not much of a problem.
Beers are over $5 which is too much. In decent shape for a muni but the greens were very slow and not a lot of pride goes into fixing ball marks. Some really silly spots where you have to cross over other holes, lack of cart paths lead to confusion as to where to go next. Over all, worth the price, decent test of golf, but they could use some more signage to direct you where to go. Would play here again at a discounted price.
chedoke - martin
Course was more challenging than normal as the greens are super fast and drives run forever
Beautiful Course
Good course, only issue was the cross over holes. Beautiful scenery, well maintained.
good for all
It's a great course to practice your game. There are challenging holes such as a 250 yard par 3. This course is built into the escarpment so flat lies are rare and everything breaks away from the escarpment. Greens are average nothing spectacular but in good shape. Will play again. Deals can be had so don't pay full price
Good Civic Course
The course was in great shape, the food was good, the staff was as always, beyond friendly ... and the weather was poor.
Anything under the controls of staff and management was top notch. We will be back in a couple of weeks to finish what we started!
Martin on Saturday
Easier of the two Chedoke courses. Quick round at just over 3 hours. Lotsa fun.
Nice family day on the links
Played chedoke "martin" course and found it in very good shape. My playing companions played it for the first time and couldn't believe the difficult lies they faced! Not a flat lie on the course with severe moguls gives u every lie in the book! The greens are not really that true and the tee boxes are not great either (the course only has 2 sets of tees. But it is a Stanley Thompson design and is well worth playing!!
Good price
Not the greatest condition but a bit of a challenge at a fait price.
Hamilton Municipal Courses Shine Again!
I have now played all 3 Hamilton Municipal courses, and I have to say they all deliver excellent value for the $!
Strongly recommend you experience all three (Chedoke Bedoe & Martin, Kings Forest).
Cheers!
