nice course for the $
Nice banger course. Tough greens. Wee bit slow but otherwise fun, simple course
Straight but hilly
Not many bends but the difficulty is playing over terrain that is very hilly. Also many holes are long for their par rating including those that are uphill making it tougher to par the hole. That also means many holes are downhill from the tee which lends some excitement. Only complaint some of the cart paths are very rough and it can be difficult to locate the next tee, use the map on the score card.
Poor management
We booked a foursome 2 women and 2 men all over the age of 60. The problem was that when we got there the pro shop told us no carts were available and we would have to walk. How did that happen when we already had a time? They told us 1st come 1st serve and the groups in front of us were just a walk on with no reservation. The marshal told us that it is one of the hardest courses to walk. After 9 they had carts but at full price so we ended up paying more than if we did not book with Golf Now.
Nice greens
I found the course overall to be pretty good considering our winter, fairways needed a little bit of work. The greens were in great shape and were quite fast. Only complaint would be that players prior to me didn't repair their ball marks. Having never seen the course or played it, I was happy to shoot a 79. If you can get off the tee well and place your ball in the correct spots on the fairway you should do well here. The booklet provided is pretty helpful for the first and second shots. On a side note I wouldn't take a cart here again as the ride was extremely bumpy and very uncomfortable.
I'll be back
I found the fairways and greens in excellent shape especially after this winter. I'll be back.
Give the Martin a try
All things considered the Martin is a gem! - Most of the holes were designed by famed architect Stanley Thompson - there are mounded fairways - par 3 par 4's that are driveable - but penal when missed - a couple of long par 4's over 440 -
Its a 33 back 9 and 37 front nine - although not long - there are some real great holes - here are my favorites
The 18 is a 265 par 4 over a valley - that slopes with the escarpment - the 6th a 440 par four with a false front - the 2cnd and 7th are par 5's that have elevated tee shots to rolling fairways and greens that slope away - The 12th a 275 par 4 with ob left its a slight dogleg left if you ail to the right you'll be in a valley with a blind shot or the a burm - play it you'll like it! oh yeah it is in great condition considering the brutal winter
chedoke Martin
Course in good condition. Would be great if the grounds keepers would stop working when you are shooting. Noise from machines very distracting.
Decent value for money.
Nice Ciy Owned Couse
Course is in good shape, has some tight narrow tree lined rolling fairways that provide un-even lies. No water and very few sand traps on the course. Greens can be tricky as many break away from the escarpment, no matter what you see. Many scenic elevation changes throughout the 18 holes. There a few strange holes such as golfers crossing to the next hole in front of your green, tee boxes and greens on top of each other and the public walking path through a couple holes.
Chedoke - Martin Review
not a bad track. i could tell in its former glory, this was a well designed track that took advantage on the terrain as evident in the uneven and dips in the fairways. greens were rolling somewhat true . fairways could use some work but may be too esrly in the season.
Tough, tough, tough muni
Very few doglegs but elevation changes and length more than make up for it. If you're straight and long you'll be ok. Otherwise look out.
Chedoke Martin course
It is an interesting course. The fairways are designed with lots of undulation (ups & downs). After finishing one hole if is not obvious where the next one is, and therefore they need more signs to lead you to the next hole.
This course is worth the value
Will surely play again..Played this course when a junior and brings back lots of memories
Slow play but decent.
Thinking about Chedoke - Martin on a Sunday afternoon, expect a slow round. Interesting course, with the walking/running/biking path snaking across fairways. There were a few holes that it helped having a local in the foursome to save us from walking out into another holes tee shots when moving from hole to hole. I would play it again, but booking later in the day to avoid the slow play.
Very forgiving
Good course for average to below average golfers. Very forgiving, not very challenging.
Only complaint is the course does not have any outstanding features.
Good value for the money

The course is in good shape.
Fairways are bumpy so most second and third shots are uphill or downhill lies. It was very enjoyable.
long lots of par 5's
I've been playing Chedoke since I was a kid, unfortunately they don't maintain it to the levels in the past greens are not what they once were. If you can get it for 35-40 with a cart its worth playing.
I would recommend the playing the bedoe over the Martin it's a more intresting treck and seems to be in slightly better condition.
The course is just recovering from storm damage but is in good shape. The storm did nothing to its testy uneven lies, however.
The course wasn't too busy at the time of my tee off, making for a steady and enjoyable round. I would play this course again.
