it's a good coarse and could be much better
I found that other golfer's who don't know the rules make the coarse not pleasent to play, for example the ball marks on the green are not being looked after, the sand traps are not being raked and golfers believe the brush is a grabage bag.
Friendly course, layout was a bit confusing.
Was a nice course, but a tad confusing, a few times waiting for golfers that weren't even playing on our hole. Golf carts criss-crossing all over the place, and people constantly shooting balls on our hole because holes were close together.
We waited at almost every hole, was a busy day.
old style tremendous elevation changes not too long
Played the Martin course which is the original 18 holes and really enjoyed the uneven lies and elevation changes for a change. Joggers, walkers, bikers and baby carriages wonder through the layout and fairways sometimes cross other fairways so this place is unique to modern design. Panoramic views of Hamilton since the location seems to be in the middle of the city.
This is an historic course. Once being the home to the Hamilton Golf & C.C.
This is an older course, with mature tree-lined fairways. Unless you hit a straight ball, you will always find a tree in your way. You will find that even though some holes seem to run up and down, there is plenty of elevation overall to deal with and some interesting doglegs. The greens can easily add 6-7 strokes to your game. Be careful! We had a very enjoyable day with a super discount price including a cart.
This course has wide fairways but very hilly terrain
Played the entire course in 4hrs Play went very smoothly until a player was injured by twisting ankle by no blame to the course Staff were very helpful and issued a refund for the holes not played Extremely satisfied with the service
lots of challenges , no flat lies , greens good buts lots roll, stay in fairways to avoid trouble , course short enough to recover from stray shots
Always enjoy playing Cherokee, Martin or Bedoe. Lots of great views and scenery for a city course. Club house needs some work. I notice lots of area under repairs and maintenance being done cart paths, green side bunkers ECT. Look forward to seeing playing the completed version. I have always enjoyed this course, and would recommend it highly. Kings Forest the other Hamilton Public course also a great venue for those who like Niagara Escarpment course style of play.
Friendly Staff...
The staff including the starter were very friendly.
The greens rolled true but were very slow.
A lot of clean up from the storm a few weeks back still occurring but not a distraction.
Since it is a municipal course, there were a lot of bikers, joggers and hikers ON the course.
Course is in terrible condition due to recent storm.
The course is in bad condition due to the recent storm here. There are teams of workers cutting down damaged trees, working on each hole. Loud trucks and teams of 6 or more workers seem to be working at each hole. The work did not stop while we were teeing off, or golfing very close to them. It was VERY DISTRACTING. This course should be CLOSED until the repairs and maintenance are completed.
This course has great features
Great views. My only complaint is there is so much up and down on the fairways me as a novice golfer never had decent footing. The ball was either above my feet or below my feet changing the shot I was trying.
Great Day
The marshal was very helpful right off the first tee, giving me little tips about the course that helped me a ton during my round. The views were nice, the course was well maintained, I would definitely play here again.
workers were courteous to some extent.
we had a 1:15 tee off .First we had to wait 45 minutes for a cart. I was going to walk it but i have terminal cancer, so i changed my mind. the back nine of the martin course is very difficult to walk for me. Of course with no carts, their are no Marshall's to watch the guys running around on the carts making fools of themselfs . construction of the course i can handle, but the fairways were like hitting off of concrete.
Will never play there again.
Nice course for the value. The Beddoe is alot better.
Nice course for the value. The Beddoe is allot better. 2 great municipal courses.
Ok if it's a fire deal
Wear your armour i have never seen a tighter course...balls flying everywhere. You have to cross on three holes other fairways to get to next tee. There are also public paths that cross fairways Worst golf experience I have ever had.
Nice course with lots of hills
This is a nice course, well maintained and green, most all the greens are small with some tough pin placements and large breaks. Biggest problem is that there're not dedicated cart paths, just drive wherever.
Excellent value for money.
Course was in great shape.Really fun to play.
Great view of the city.
Young patrons need to be (educated) told not to spit sunflower seeds on green.Throwing their garbage everywhere.
Ground crew are doing a great job.
Good course, great value.
Course was in reasonably good condition. They were still cleaning up the debris from the storm a while ago with some trees needing to come down. Only thing that would have made it better was someone monitoring the pace of play as there were many first timers out there.
Noisy and long
This first 4 holes were very difficult to concentrate as several crews had chain saws cutting down large trees, it was more like a construction zone than tranquil golf course. I understand that work needs to be done, but not enjoyable!
Staff very friendly and courteous
The cart paths need attention on the Martin course- many potholes sometimes a little dangerous. The greens are generally well maintained but this is a hilly course and generally driving up and down on a cart is a little sick-making particularly in the heat.
needs some TLC
I was a single an I played in less than 2 hours on a cart. All groups without exception allowed me to play through.
The rough has been cut nicely. Balls that squirt off fairway can now be found easily
With the rough cut the course now plays more fair for the average golfer. cart paths still need a lot of attention. Noticed a tree down on the path to Hole #15. It was not being attended to although I'm sure it will be. It is still a rough ride on the carts down any fairway. The whole course is whoops and valleys. At least fix the path at hole #1. The transition from path to fairway would take 10 or 15 minutes to fix. It send out the wrong message after the first shot. For those that do not know the Fairways are some what moguled due to the fact that the course at one time served a dual purpose. Golf in the summer and skiing and tobogganing in the winter. Drive careful.
