great value and moderately challenging. Staff is very friendly
The course is maintained in good condition, representing good value. The greens are very challenging. The course features a 260 yard par 3.
The staff is quite customer friendly. I recommend this course to my friends.
A course in my backyard
It is nice to live in a city that is not only surrounded by golf courses but three are within city limits! Martin is one of them. Great course for practicing distance and straight shots. Everything in the front nine is long and straight. The back is shorter and has a few doglegs but nothing to worry about. This is a good course to practice your driver if it has not been working lately as you can find most errant shots no matter where they go. The course is on the side of the escarpment so you do spend a lot of time walking uphill or downhill so unless that's your thing get a cart. For municipal course it was in very good shape but a few of the greens needed attention. Overall nothing to complain about and I was five minutes from home.
wet conditions
The time of the year and the wetness of the course didn't help the playability.
Beautiful and friendly course!
If you want to cultivate your golf newbie friend to your golf buddy, bring him to Chedoke Martin, its beautiful scenery and friendly course would make a atmophere to attract guys to love golf at thier early rounds.
Course requires maintenance
We were able to tee off early, which was appreciated.
But caught up to a group of six (6) players golfing together on the 7th. hole. Had to wait until the 10th. hole to pass them.
Pro shop appoligized for this, and offered us a free game in return.
Open course for a fun round.
Not every course has to punish. Enough of a challenge to be interesting for all levels. Back nine is short but be ready for the final 3 holes.
Martin course - Some holes have "par" set to the wrong value
Martin course - Layout causes some holes to be overly short while others are overly long.
In need of maintenance, but cheap
Getting the deal through GolfNow made this one of the cheapest 18-holes in the area... which was great. The grounds are in severe need of maintenance. A lot of the cart paths were just dirt, which created dust clouds for the second cart behind us to drive through. Other paths were broken bits of concrete.
The actual greens were alright, however they were super hilly (its on the Hamilton mountain), which made the balls take really odd bounces almost every time.
I also had to wait 30 minutes for a power cart when I had booked previously. When you set aside X amount of time for a round and have to wait half an hour to start... it messes with your plans.
For the money, this was a decent round. But I would happily spend a bit more for some quality.
This course is confusing to follow.
We enjoyed the number of elevated tees.
We found the course very poorly marked and had to spend too much time asking other people where to find the next tee. Unfortunately, there must have been several "first-timers" that day, because we got the same complaint from other golfers.
On the second nine, after using the snack bar, we asked where the 10th tee was located. We teed off where we were sent; however, the course didn't match our map. We figured out that we had changed to the other course by mistake, so we just continued, as it wasn't busy. When we couldn't find the 13th tee on this course, we headed back to the marshall and he directed us to the 13th tee on our original course. Good thing we weren't worried about keeping score.
On this coursem you are shooting across other fairways, and a public walkway goes through a fairway, so you have to worry about hitting someone.
I complained in at the pro shop about the signage directing you from tee to tee and even the labelling of the tee once you did find it. My husband and I will NEVER go back to this course again--no matter the price!
needs work
Very hard to find your way around the course. Marshal had to draw arrows on the score card to help us find the next tee boxes. Did this for any new players to the course.Needs better signage.
