A gem of a course in Hamilton
This is definitely one of my favourite golf courses in the larger GTA. It is challenging but fair, almost always in top condition--greener than ever this year, thanks to an abundance of rain. Luckily our foursome got out ahead of a large group so the pace of play was good. That is not always so on the weekend and there have been times when I thought a marshall should be on duty. I have recommended Kings Forest to many friends over the years.Congratulations, Hamilton, for having two really enjoyable municipal courses. Oakville should take note!!
Fit for a King
Beautiful course in the middle of the city.
Improvement needed:
Update amenities (washrooms, locker...)
Otherwise great place to play.
Good value
I'm currently on vacation in the GTA and have played several courses during my stay. I would have to say this course was on par with the other more expensive courses I played. The course was in great shape, very challenging, with a lot of dramatic elevation changes, none more dramatic then the par 4 11th. I will certainly return to play this course again. Great value.
My only complaints were on one occassion my buddie was hitting a shot and a maintenance person drove past him as he was swinging (with in 15 ft) which I thought was very unprofessional. But it only happened once. And I found the sand in the bunkers were a little wet and not raked as well as other courses i played. But other then that I enjoyed the course.
Kings Forrest
What a great course. Shout out to the city of Hamilton as its a city owned gem. Course was in excellent condition so high marks to the ground crew. Only wish i had played better but only i can control that. Well done City of Hamilton
Very scenic course
challenging course. Well maintained. Very scenic. No Marshall so pace was slow even on a Monday.
Great city course
Very well kept course ,for being city ran, great value, great greens, great fairways, cold beer.
Brutal..
I have played this course so many times but Saturday will be my last time. Let's see first, the bunkers brutal, second the grounds crew very unprofessional (shame on the course superintendent for letting this occur), third Marshalls need to spend more time focusing on the pace of play rather than looking for golf balls, fourthly shame on the city for not putting in more money into a clubhouse for the love of god get with the times. Only positive thing I can say Kings Forest golf pro is an absolute gentlemen. WAKE UP WHOEVER RUNS THIS PLACE..
need your A game
Played the course on and off for years, for a city course I would it one of the best. they do there best to keep it in top shape, what ever the season.
Tough nice track
I haven't been to Kings Forest in a few years and it's still a nice tough track. Everyone super friendly my only complain would be the greens some were in just ok shape bumpy and some tough spots
A top Municipal course - does need some work
This is one of the best layouts for a Municipally owned course you will find. It's a tough, hilly course and with the wind and somewhat wet conditions we had, it made for a tough day. Though we had carts booked when we arrived we discovered it was too wet to take them out. The course did call (home#) but we were already enroute to the course and weren't prepared for a walking round.
We were surprised to find the greens as slow and as inconsistent as they were and some not in the greatest of conditions. Tees were good for the most part but some need work - often had to find a level place to hit from.
No complaints about the value though, this is a course to play in Hamilton if you have never played it! Highlight hole for me is #11, elevated tee, a great driving hole with a nice view.
This course plays tough in calm conditions . Today in the wind was in another element .Played with 3 other awesome dudes
Picturest
Course was in good shape greens a little slow and for a municipal course the greens had a lot of ball marks not repaired but is expected. Staff was extremely friendly.
Poor shape
Bunkers unplayable. Greens horrible. Played this course a lot recommend waiting till June to play.
Tried to have something to eat but meeting going on in the restaurant.
Great layout
Kings forest is a very challenging course if they could get the condition and speed of the greens even to a good level you couldn't keep people away from this course
Tremendous course, good value, terrible greens. Too bad,
Course is beautifully designed ....could use some ground maintenance or greens keeper to repair the imperfections and hacked cart paths.
