Dry and poor rough
Good course nice terrain but rough is poorly maintained and greens were not cut. Also if you go with less than four they force you to pair up
Tricky #11
We had a very good day and would perfect if the fairways were not too dry
Tight fairways , hilly
Nice course...very hilly and challenging............staff are friendly and accommadating....
Kings
As always kings is a great layout. Greens were in great shape minus one bad spot in 12. Bunkers were in great shape as well as the fairways. The pace of play was excellent which was a pleasant surprise, as some rounds I've played were a little on the slow side. I would recommend this course to anyone who likes a beautiful setting and a challenging course layout.
Course condition horrible
Read reviews of this course talking about poor course conditions but decided to play anyways thinking "how bad could it really be". Well I should have listened, fairways were absolutely terrible with more bare areas than grass, very hard and dry and with natural slope to many fairways it was virtually impossible to keep your ball on the fairway even with a perfect drive. Greens were even worse, very soft bumpy and slow. Any putt over 4 feet was just luck to hope your ball hit the right bumps to direct it at the hole. Carts were old and in poor condition, we had rain for a few holes and no windshield or rainflap for your clubs, something you would expect at a "high end" course. Overall one of the worst courses I have played in many years when you consider course condition and cost. Do yourself a favour and stay away!
This is one of the best???
I'm really curious to know how this course was named one of the best in the country. This course is truly nothing special. It took us over 5 hours to play. I would compare this course to the likes of Oak Gables but even Oak Gables is in better shape. If this makes the top 100 this time around I will seriously question if the city is paying score golf to have the course rated so highly. For a city course and the amount of rain we have gotten I would've thought the grass would be green at the very least.
Needs a lot of attention and work to compare to Ancaster area courses.
First Timer
It was an overall pleasant round with a buddy. A lot of the fairways were in mediocre shape with plenty of bare spots. Found that disappointing considering all the rain we'd been having. Greens were really slow, fairways were really hard. Not very forgiving of errant shots which made it a challenge, which was a plus. Staff was friendly and beer cart girl came around twice while on back 9. Glad I was able to secure a discounted price through golf now as I would have been very disappointed to have to pay full price. $60 for this public course I think is too much. Have played nicer for less.
King's Forest
Some of the fairways are in need of repair, considering the winter we had I am sure a lot of courses are like that. I never move my ball, but I don't practice hitting off mud either, this will be up to you. But overall the course, the staff were very friendly.
tough course great scenic views
Great course would play again, very challenging but fun.
Fantastic layout, poor to average course conditions
Great layout and challenging. Demanding in accuracy, consistency and length if you play from the back (which few who know thecourse to). However it is a muni course and the fairways get pretty hard if it hasn't rained and the greens are always a little beat up from the fact it is a muni course. Greens tend to be bumpy. I go back a couple of times a year to be humbled and test my ball striking.
Not a fan
I put a lot of a golf course ratings into the state of the greens. These greens were long, slow, bumpy and different speeds depending on the green. Some had bare patches. Layout was ok and there is one really neat hole with a major elevation drop off the tee. Clubhouse is terrible. I'd put it in the just OK category. Don't have a burning desire to go back but wouldn't not play it if the opportunity came up.
It is a very scenic course ...
especially at this time of the year when the leaves are starting to change color. Except for the fact that the greens having been aerated recently, the overall condition is very good. Unlike some reviews I read prior to booking this course, I found the marshals friendly and accommodating. I definitely will recommend this course to friends.
King's Forest has a beautiful location. The scenery is spectacular.
Thoroughly enjoyable course. The scenery is spectacular. What a beautiful place to take a stroll and hit a few balls on the way.
Great layout , they need a greens keeper.
The course layout is great, challenging, long but the greens were super slow and the ground was unbelievably hard, they have irrigation but they need to turn it on.
Challenging, good course.
A challenging, hilly, course with holes that necessitate good driving and an ability to hit good fairway woods. Off fairway drives to either side fall prey to running off into wooded areas due to the fact that both sides usually slope that direction. A good course to practice your accuracy and focus.
Great layout.
Great layout. Greens however were very slow and bumpy. A little extra maintenance would make this course an upper tier track.
Scenic round of golf
Played this course on one of the hottest days of the summer, with so much humidity, my glove wouldn't stay dry, and grip was an issue. Nonetheless, the scenery and course conditions were outstanding. Not a great deal on fees, but still worth the small discount.
Very Rude Marshall
On the second hole there was no carts direction so we parked 15 ft to the left of the green. The marshall asked us if "We have ever played golf before" and was incredibly rude to us for no good reason. It's a pretty nice course with a nice back 9, but considering the options in this area, why would you go back when the staff have attitude problems.
Very pretty course
I was very pleasantly surprised with this course. Booked it on a whim and have told numerous friends they have to go. It's now in my top ten to play.
