Royal Ontario Golf Club
About
Royal Ontario Golf Club sprawls across gentle hillsides blanketed in mature trees and thick fescue. Formerly a stable, the course features large meadows and dense groves of trees that frame the fairways and greens. The layout has a more traditional, links design that features occasional water hazards, most notably on the par-5 ninth and 18th holes that share a large lake, but the tree-covered hills are the true challenge of the golf course. Although there are many difficult elements on this course, five sets of tees make it accessible for players of all skill levels. Royal Ontario Golf Club is often compared to the Masters Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club.

awesome course
great value assuming you snagged a discount. not worth $100 but a great deal between 50-60. worth every penny. in great condition for being early in the year. with the exception of some rude members the day was good.
Lots of variety an length, sand and water features.
Course was in good condition. Weather was perfect. No waiting, moved along nicely. All in all an excellent outing
Beautiful course well maintained but challenging
This course is beautiful, well groomed and has some spectacular views. But it is not for the first time player it's challenging. Well worth the money
OMG!! The greens were soooo slow
When I got there I was told that the course had been rained on the night before and therefore the carts would be cart-path only. The practice green was incredibly slow, but I thought that this was an just an oversight. Well the course was very wet and, indeed, we needed to stay on the cart-path to protect the fairways which were very soft. But the greens felt like they were coated with glue. It felt like we needed a driver to get the ball to roll 25 feet. And this on a course that prides itself on the quality of their greens! I am not sure if this was just a temporary condition or an indication of what is being done, but I would not go back until they have worked on this.
Challenging course with good variety
Course is greening up nicely for early spring play. Disappointing that they don't provide a free bottle of water on the power carts anymore.
Big difference between the whites & blue tees...
Firstly, staff is great! Always very helpful and ready to provide local course knowledge. Layout in my opinion tests ever facet of the game. Both long & short hitters will use every club in the bag. The 18th is a brute to cap off a great round. Have fun!
The course was not in great shape albeit mostly due to the fact that it is early in the season
The course is very challenging but was not in great shape even for the start of the season.
Royal Ontario
The course was in good shape and the staff was welcoming. The rate of play was good and the marshals continuously monitred that throughout the day
The course from the blue tees for us was challenging and very enjoyable
The 9th and 18th holes are very challenging and probably the best finishing holes in and around the GTA for both the front nine and the back nine. They also both finish at the clubhouse where guests can watch from above on the patio. Nice touch for a golf course.
This course was very challenging
What a great course very challenging a lot of target golf one shot sets up ,best to be vary carefull, the 2 signature holes 9th and 18th are oppisite mirrow imagize of each other both par 5's and very difficult all in all a great cource i highly recomd it to my golf buddies
Bumpy Ride
pace was very slow due to cart path only rule, greens were very bumpy due to aeration.
This course has many challenging holes for every level of golfer. There greens are always in the best conditons, and around 10 on the steepmeter.
Because of the the weather condition we were limited to the cart path only and the round last just over 5hours which is not typical at Royal Ontario...The course condition were very good for this time of year and was pleased with my round.
Target golf. Well kept . Slow pace of play.
Well kept course. Above average difficulty. Target golf. Pace of play is usually an issue here.
A great golfing experience!
The course had challenging hazards and fairways. I can't wait to play this course again!
Challenging but fair, greens were fast!
Lots of trees and water. A good challenge for the average golfer.
Greens were fast but fair. GPS on the carts would be nice!
greens are dry
the course wasn't anything special. pass for better course. staff was not helpful.
recommend courses are more challenging and better experience.
A big letdown
Staff seemed dis-interested, course was in mediocre condition. A shame really because the layout is interesting.
Good value becasue of Golfnow - although I would never pay their regular prices.
I have played at Royal Ontario twice and palyed with others. Both times it was an enjoyable experience. The outside staff were very friendly, inside staff more reserved but polite and cordial. The first time I got range balls, the second time, no range balls. However, their range balls are terrible, so no real loss - except I would prefer regular balls on ANY driving range so that I get proper feedback on my practice hits. The course was in good condition and pace of play was a little slow but manageable. As stated in my summary, I would never pay their full price to golf there. It just isn't worth it. Golfnow made it a course worth considering for multiple plays per season.
