Royal Ontario Golf Club sprawls across gentle hillsides blanketed in mature trees and thick fescue. Formerly a stable, the course features large meadows and dense groves of trees that frame the fairways and greens. The layout has a more traditional, links design that features occasional water hazards, most notably on the par-5 ninth and 18th holes that share a large lake, but the tree-covered hills are the true challenge of the golf course. Although there are many difficult elements on this course, five sets of tees make it accessible for players of all skill levels. Royal Ontario Golf Club is often compared to the Masters Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club.

A big letdown

Staff seemed dis-interested, course was in mediocre condition. A shame really because the layout is interesting.

Good value becasue of Golfnow - although I would never pay their regular prices.

I have played at Royal Ontario twice and palyed with others. Both times it was an enjoyable experience. The outside staff were very friendly, inside staff more reserved but polite and cordial. The first time I got range balls, the second time, no range balls. However, their range balls are terrible, so no real loss - except I would prefer regular balls on ANY driving range so that I get proper feedback on my practice hits. The course was in good condition and pace of play was a little slow but manageable. As stated in my summary, I would never pay their full price to golf there. It just isn't worth it. Golfnow made it a course worth considering for multiple plays per season.

Tough as nails

Great course, hadn't played it in years but I am glad I gave it another go. The elements were too much that day as the wind was too much too handle on this very tight course.

Course has great potential, good layout with good challenging holes. Slow play is a problem.

Course has a great layout with many challenging holes. I would play more often if the speed of play was better.. On 4 occasions, took 5 hours plus to play. On 1 occasion, it took 31/2 hours because we had the first tee time for the day.
