Lowville Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the scenic Niagara Escarpment, Lowville Golf Club offers scenic views of the greater Toronto area. The layout blends seamlessly with the natural landscape, creating a picturesque golf setting that the Toronto Star's "Bogey Man" has touted as the most scenic in the area. The golf course has also received top honors from the same publication as the most improved club. This challenging, 18-hole course features several downhill tee shots that can really carry, making it a fun course for long hitters. Lowville Golf Club's 12th hole is notably entertaining. It is a long par-5 that requires a long carry off the tee to a tricky green.

Beautiful cut holes
I really enjoyed playing this course again, it's been 9 years between visits and the condition has not changed. Very good! Two small downfalls that I would like the staff to look into are: 1)the bunkers on the front 9 are a little sub par, but that could be fix if I didn't hit in them so much. #2) the signs that Guide you to the next tees are extremely poor, this was not a problem because of the amazing Marshal helping us out, but without him, "CONFUSING"!!.
All in all, a recommendation to all handy cap golfers out there.
Fastest 18 played
We have played Lowville before but this time was great. We went out at 7am and finished at 10am. The Marshall asked one group to get us through (after 3 holes) and our pace of place continued. The course is in very good conditions. Greens are getting better after a tough winter. We will defiantly play again!
Nice views, friendly staff
Had a 7.33 start. Starter moved us ahead of a four ball which enabled us to finish in 2hrs 40 mins. We played off the blue markers but should have played off the Gold. Plays very short apart from a couple of uphill holes. Nice layout and look forward to playing it again.
Good Golfing Experience
Except for the wind that was very high at times the game was good and I enjoyed it.
beautiful scenery
The day we cplayed was very hot. Even on the best of days it's a must ride. Very hilly but the spectaular views make op for it. Would definitely retutrn.
Scenic course; inconsistent greens
This course in my opinion had some pretty nice views, was for the most part in decent condition but I thought that the greens were pretty inconsistent; mainly slow.
If you're walking it (which we did), be prepared for a bit of a workout/hike. The elevations make it feel like you're on a stair climber machine at times!
All this aside and considering the Golfnow Hot deal price we paid, I suppose I shouldn't complain!
Picturesque
Love golfing at this course. It is beautiful and has some challenges but very playable at the same time. Greens can be a challenge (although I had 5 one putts!!). This course suffered some winter damage as did most others in the area, but it is recovering nicely and is well maintained.
Pace and poor greens, but value is there during twlight
As stated in the title of my review. The pace was extreamley slow, but the my main complaint would be the condition of the greens. They were brutal to the point where I'd say they might eb the worst I've ever played on during peak season. Granted there are times (oct) when air raiding makes putting diffucult, but this is june. Fairways where in perfect condition, and tee boxes were avg. If you can find a deal to play here I'd recommend it, however I'd never recommend paying full price to golf here.
Great Round!
An extremely picturesque golf course with friendly staff and challenging golf. You HAVE TO at least try this course. It is built so most holes either climb or descend the escarpment, resulting in very few level lies.
Many holes have at least some significant risk from the tee box but most also have a "safer route" for the cautious golfer also. If you lack control on your drives there are several holes where you may want to choose a fairway wood if you hit those straighter.
Many Burlington courses took a lot of damage this winter and are working hard to recover. Lowville is actually in excellent shape compared to the other two I've played so far this year. The only blemish I recall other than a few "ground under repair" areas (free drop), was that greens had some rough spots. Regular rough was reasonably challenging and, if you hit into the really long stuff... forget about that ball and reload.
It was a packed card on a beautiful Saturday. Marshals were present discretely encouraging the pace of play in a friendly way.
We visited the clubhouse afterward and had a pleasant experience with all staff encountered and had a great sausage on a bun.
Winter Damage
I have played this course many times, but this was the first time this season, the greens are in pretty rough shape. For the amount this course charges and I know they fill tee times everyday, I just feel a little more grounds keeping could be done. Re doing the greens at the beginning of the year early and dropping prices well temp greens were in place might have been an option.
Fairways are pretty rough as well. It was a bad winter here so I get it.
Course in decent shape; super busy though
Played with my pops and brothers a few weeks ago and the course was in fairly decent shape. I was concerned after reading reviews about the greens but they were OK considering the winter we had. That said, they still had two temps and a few of them were still worse for wear. I know they'll be cleaner once we get a streak of hot weather, but worth calling out. All around it was great but the pace was incredibly slow. We were log jammed getting out and to try and speed things up the starter kept firing guys off. We'd hit and wait virtually every shot.. so no consistency or momentum. Nonetheless I'll be back, but wanted to be honest in my review.
Long and hilly
the greens are in really bad shape, I guess because of a tough winter. The course is a very tough walk as elevation changes are significant. 9 out of 10 players could not walk 18 out here. Lovely views though of the GTA area
Scenic Course
Was surprised it wasn't busy!
Very picturesque area, love the views.
tender loving care needed
Re visited this course on May 26. after missing it for two. years. The vistas are still spectacular, the layout challenging but the course condition not so good. Winter was a greens killer. One temp green on 16, fairway cut short which actually rolled the best, 3rd hole used alternate green but teed from fairway with short wedge. At best 60% green condition but most were 20-40% in shape. Some tees were also in rough shape, plus some collars were as bad as the greens. Some of the rough has not seen a rough cut mower with rough 8-10 inches tall. My playing partner who rarely gets upset did here when loosing balls that runoff the sloped fairways and get lost in the deep grass. It also seemed the fairways were cut much narrower then in previous years. The pace of play was quick as the course was not busy, guess the word was out on the poor condition. Normal rack rates, even GOLF NOW rates need to be reduced as it is very over priced now. Alternately close the course to allow the turf staff to work on the greens to bring them back to more playable conditions, even little traffic will hinder the recovery while disappointing golfers who expect better from this course.
Greens were in rough condition
Normally a decent conditioned course, however ths year it has a lot of work to do to get up to standard
Very Picturesque
Course was in fair shape but the greens were terrible. WAS NOT worth the price. There was a twosome in front of us and two very slow groups in front of them. the group in front of them would not let the twosome go ahead so one guy quit after 9 and the other joined our threesome. There was 3 empty holes in front of them and no range marshall around. We had to wait on every shot. it was not enjoyable.
Great Experience To Kick Off 2014 Season
Fantastic round of golf to start my 2014 golf season. Score could of been better, but the course was in fairly good condition. After reviewing all the winter damage that majority of golf courses in the GTA faced, my group and I decided to play Lowville. We heard Lowville had the best conditions compared to most, with only 1 temporary green at the moment. On top of that, the course offers breath taking views. No wonder the course has been rated "Most Scenic in Burlington."
Staff was very friendly and informative upon arriving at the course. Proshop staff was exceptional!
Clubhouse and restaurant was in outstanding condition. Facilities were clean and neat. The menu in the restaurant is absolutely fantastic! With a new head chef on board, the menu was greatly improved from previous years. A variety of dishes at a great price.
Highly recommended! You most definitely want to take advantage of the play all day special!
This course needs work
Do due to the horrific winter, course conditions were generally poor. A number of greens were severely damaged. Three holes had temporary greens, but was not mentioned by the starter. A number of Tee Boxes had been moved up...yardage was uncertain. Fairways also experienced a fair amount of winter kill. Hopefully, the course conditions will improve by mid summer.
