Lowville Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the scenic Niagara Escarpment, Lowville Golf Club offers scenic views of the greater Toronto area. The layout blends seamlessly with the natural landscape, creating a picturesque golf setting that the Toronto Star's "Bogey Man" has touted as the most scenic in the area. The golf course has also received top honors from the same publication as the most improved club. This challenging, 18-hole course features several downhill tee shots that can really carry, making it a fun course for long hitters. Lowville Golf Club's 12th hole is notably entertaining. It is a long par-5 that requires a long carry off the tee to a tricky green.

Scenic Course
Was surprised it wasn't busy!
Very picturesque area, love the views.
tender loving care needed
Re visited this course on May 26. after missing it for two. years. The vistas are still spectacular, the layout challenging but the course condition not so good. Winter was a greens killer. One temp green on 16, fairway cut short which actually rolled the best, 3rd hole used alternate green but teed from fairway with short wedge. At best 60% green condition but most were 20-40% in shape. Some tees were also in rough shape, plus some collars were as bad as the greens. Some of the rough has not seen a rough cut mower with rough 8-10 inches tall. My playing partner who rarely gets upset did here when loosing balls that runoff the sloped fairways and get lost in the deep grass. It also seemed the fairways were cut much narrower then in previous years. The pace of play was quick as the course was not busy, guess the word was out on the poor condition. Normal rack rates, even GOLF NOW rates need to be reduced as it is very over priced now. Alternately close the course to allow the turf staff to work on the greens to bring them back to more playable conditions, even little traffic will hinder the recovery while disappointing golfers who expect better from this course.
Greens were in rough condition
Normally a decent conditioned course, however ths year it has a lot of work to do to get up to standard
Very Picturesque
Course was in fair shape but the greens were terrible. WAS NOT worth the price. There was a twosome in front of us and two very slow groups in front of them. the group in front of them would not let the twosome go ahead so one guy quit after 9 and the other joined our threesome. There was 3 empty holes in front of them and no range marshall around. We had to wait on every shot. it was not enjoyable.
Great Experience To Kick Off 2014 Season
Fantastic round of golf to start my 2014 golf season. Score could of been better, but the course was in fairly good condition. After reviewing all the winter damage that majority of golf courses in the GTA faced, my group and I decided to play Lowville. We heard Lowville had the best conditions compared to most, with only 1 temporary green at the moment. On top of that, the course offers breath taking views. No wonder the course has been rated "Most Scenic in Burlington."
Staff was very friendly and informative upon arriving at the course. Proshop staff was exceptional!
Clubhouse and restaurant was in outstanding condition. Facilities were clean and neat. The menu in the restaurant is absolutely fantastic! With a new head chef on board, the menu was greatly improved from previous years. A variety of dishes at a great price.
Highly recommended! You most definitely want to take advantage of the play all day special!
This course needs work
Do due to the horrific winter, course conditions were generally poor. A number of greens were severely damaged. Three holes had temporary greens, but was not mentioned by the starter. A number of Tee Boxes had been moved up...yardage was uncertain. Fairways also experienced a fair amount of winter kill. Hopefully, the course conditions will improve by mid summer.
greens damaged - wait until greens are repaired
greens suffered lot of winter damage. Three temporary greens and rest all have damage that makes putting difficult. Other than that, course is good . Just wait until summer when greens get in better shape.
Sorest greens of all times
They should have set up the entire course to be played from temporary greens.
Long winter has left the course in bad shape
Advised of 3 temp. greens only after payment was made. Greens, tee boxes, and fairwaiys have considerable winter burn throughout 18 holes. Would have liked a heads up at time of booking in regards to course condition. Pace of play was excellent....completed 18 holes in just over 3 hours. Course is in brutal shape and would not recommend playing until late in the season. Food & bev staff was great.
May 12th, 2014 -Greens in bad shape possibly due to harsh winter
I would normally recommend this course, however I will not be playing it any time soon due to the conditions of the greens.. This course usually has excellent and fast greens. Currently the greens are in poor shape with 3 temporary greens. This may be due to the harsh winter we had this year. I have date stamped the Review Title so that it is clear that this is not a normal state for this course.
cONDITION OF THE FAIRWAYS AND GREENS WERE POOR.
Normally a good course to play on. Bad winters affected the course.
Maintenance
Every time this course has some maintenance issues that couldn't play 18 holes.
Same as yesterday front nine closed due to maintenance.
So couldn't play due to golfers lined up to play back9 twice.
Disclosure on Playing conditions not provided
Normally love this course and have played before, but disappointed this time - when we arrived, found out that there were only 9 holes playable, and this was not disclosed on golfnow.com when the booking was made - course was in poor shape with airated greens - feel that disclosure of the course conditions should have been provided - rating provided is specific to this particular day, not overall, as mentioned, prior to this particular date of play, would rate the course as excellent
A great day of golf at a wonderful course
Don't bring anything but your "A game" for this pretty and challenging test of skill and nerve! Nestled on the edge of the Niagara escarpment, Lowville is a course full of undulating greens, elevation changes and beautiful vistas! At no point on the course can you allow your attention to lapse, and so this all makes for a great day of golf! Totally worth the drive whether you're a beginner or a scratch golfer! :)
DMc :)
Great scenery
The day I played, the course was very wet with a lot of leafs on the ground and the rough was a little too long making it difficult to find your golf ball. Would enjoy playing this course under better conditions
Great view of the Escarpment
Good value, fair way in good condition as well as the green
Spectacular scenery and elevations
Would like to play this course in warmer, calmer weather as we had to pack it in after nine holes due to the cold and wind.
Although not long from forward tees, each hole has its challenges. Cart path rule gave us our exercise just getting to our balls. This was only in effect due to the soggy conditions. The staff were super friendly and there were some great deals in the pro shop which I definitely took advantage of. We got a rain check for the cart for nine holes which was nice. I will definitely go back again. The greens were running true and were tricky due to their sloping nature. Unless you are in great shape, this course requires a cart!
