Willodell Golf Club of Niagara
About
Willodell Golf Club of Niagara is neighbored by Lyon Creek to one side and Tee Creek to the other. The championship layout sprawls across rolling hills covered with mature trees, which border the undulating fairways. Several ponds and two creeks come into play on 10 holes. There are numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with in addition to the water hazards. The layout features a mix of driving holes, strategic holes, and some tough par 3s. Being so diverse, the golf course appeals to a range of different skill levels and tastes. The fifth hole is Willodell Golf Club's most difficult par 3 with trees right and left and a frontal bunker that forces a full carry to the green, which is also bunkered on both sides with grassy lateral hazards that sit beyond the sand.

Great Greens
The whole course was maintained beautifully and the greens were the best I have seen so far this year.
Bang For Your Buck...?
Be ready to golf. The front nine at Willodell is burdened with difficulty, whereas the back nine pales in comparison. Your round begins with two par 5's, soon followed by the two most difficult holes on the course (hole 4 - a 430 yard par 4; hole 5 - a 189 par 3 laden with bunkers). Through ten holes, you will have played 4/5 of the course's par 5's and the rest of your round will be comprised of relatively unchallenging par 3's and 4's that allow you to recoup after its exhausting beginning. Moreover, the layout of the course is extremely strange. The holes run parallel to one another, lacking variety. Furthermore, the rolling fairways are so hilly that they become irritating: you will never have a flat lie even if you place the ball perfectly down the middle of the fairway. However, the course as a whole was relatively well kept.. Conversely, the staff was sub-par. While the starter was extremely friendly, the marshal pushed us through the final two holes (watching our every shot), despite the fact that we finished in under four hours, and we were one of the last two groups on the course (we played towards the end of the day - it seemed as though the marshal just wanted to get us off the course so he could go home). Ultimately, for the price, Willodell is hard to pass up for locals. But for visitors, it's a hazard worth avoiding.
Course conditions............shaggy
I've been coming here for 40 years. Always loved the immaculate shape it has been in.
This time on a long weekend...... no signs of having used a mower recently. Hard to distinguish any cut lines from the fairways to the rough.
I'll be back but was disappointed after expecting what I was used to seeing.
Bring bug spray!!!
This was a pretty good course. Love the links open style but it's surrounded by water. Not really their fault but was eaten alive by Mosquitos. They were everywhere. We were also paired up with two not so good of golfers and were asked to speed up by four different marshals. Though no one was behind us. Overall not a bad course just poor luck. Bring bug spray!
Excellent value
Great value for your money. Facilities and course were in great condition
excellent in may cannot wait for full summer conditions
for early spring this course is in great shape. fairways are well maintained and the greens are in excellent shape.
it is a mature course that has been over the years well taken care of.
great first round of the season
beauty day, alittle windy, course in very good shape so early in season. rough was a little thick but fairways great.
It's OK. Don't dislike, don't love it either.
Overall, kind of average. In the ballpark with Beechwood but I'd give Beechwood the edge. The biggest thing I don't like is its very tight and the trees. I'm not the straightest off the tee, usually about 10 yards off the fairway. That's a chip out almost every time on this course. I found the green very hard to hold and they didn't seem to run true. I don't like the layout, the greens or the tight style of play needed. I'm still going to give it a solid 3 though because even though it's not my kind of golf the course is still solid and I still can enjoy a round here. I wouldn't avoid playing here that's for sure. Very good value for the money too.
Great day
Great course in great shape
Pro staff very friendly towards us
Nice course will return in the summer
Course will be more difficult when trees are full during summer. Course in great shape even in late fall, look forward to seeing it during the summer. Lots dog legs which requires you move the ball left and right.
Willodell
I was disappointed to find that the course was aerated of which not acknowledged on golfnow. The starter was nothing but rude and short. I thought the photo gallery on the Willodell website was misleading, the course is not nearly as tree lined as expected. Far from comparable to courses in the area and price range
Greens disappointing
The course was in fantastic shape but it was not mentioned that the greens had been aeriated. Played in the morning and because it was moist out, putting was very difficult due to the aeriated greens and the ball picking up the sand that was spread out. Otherwise it was great fall golf.
Nice old course layout
If you stay in the fairways the course is short. The trees can cause problems. The creeks don't really come into play. Sand traps are well placed. Overall it is a nice course but not challenging.
Nice challenge
The fairways were in great shape. All the greens had just been airated and sanded so was not able to get a sense of the true roll. Many challenging holes for an average golfer, but had a fun round. I will play here again.
Aerated greens
Entire course greens had been aerated and sand applied and we were not notified of this when booking
Great Day - real value!
We were impressed with the course. What a great value from golfnow.com. The staff were very friendly although the weather wasn't the greatest. Still had a great round of golf.
Good course
My wife and I played this course on our annual Niagara Falls trip.
We enjoyed both the course and the service and plan to come back next year.
Sand & Green nightmare
The course was in excellent shape, however the greens were just a little to fast.
The staff was not friendly at all starting at the pro shop ... to the starter. May be if they smiled they would enjoy their job more. With regard to the bunkers I found the sand to top was soft, however about an half inch below the soft sand it became harder to try to get through the sand
Great Day
Great day and great course, weather was outstanding for this time of year, everyone took advantage of the weather which slowed down the play.
Excellent greens

I will play this course again!
