Willodell Golf Club of Niagara
About
Willodell Golf Club of Niagara is neighbored by Lyon Creek to one side and Tee Creek to the other. The championship layout sprawls across rolling hills covered with mature trees, which border the undulating fairways. Several ponds and two creeks come into play on 10 holes. There are numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with in addition to the water hazards. The layout features a mix of driving holes, strategic holes, and some tough par 3s. Being so diverse, the golf course appeals to a range of different skill levels and tastes. The fifth hole is Willodell Golf Club's most difficult par 3 with trees right and left and a frontal bunker that forces a full carry to the green, which is also bunkered on both sides with grassy lateral hazards that sit beyond the sand.

Will be there again!
Excellent course for the money. Greens fast and course is well maintained.
Enjoyed the round and will be back for sure.
Well kept course
This was my second time playing this course. The greens were fast and the fairways were narrow and great to hit off. The only thing missing were cart paths. You could see people were driving up to the greens which I didn't like. This course has nice long par 5's and a few difficult par 3's. Overall I found this course very challenging. I would definitely play here again
my willowdell game
Friendly staff
Good pace of game
Good golfing for the price
Golf Maybe
The course was as usual in great condition. However my booking through Golf Now left a lot to be desired. When I got there the course did not have my pre-paid booking and in fact had been double booked Sunday and Monday. They were very open and amenable to fixing the booking issue.
I would give the course a 10 for all working through all of the issues and getting me out on time.
Not so much for the Golf Now booking system. First issue I have had but leaves me wary that I won't have more :-(
Bumpy Ride
This course has very undulating fairways and is not the nicest ride. Walking would be much easier on the body! Other than that, the course waist good shape. The greens were quick and have some very subtle breaks that are hard to see. Overall, lots of fun and a good spot for anyone who loves to play.
A Very good Course
A very nice golf course well maintained. Staff were very friendly. Greens we slick but once you got used to them they were great.
Marshals at this course are aweful
We waited 15-20 mins per a hole and the Marshall came and told us to pick up our pace of play... Extremely rude about it as well, literally would not go back due to the way they treated us
Slowest course 'I've ever played
There was a 2 group wait and it took almost 5 hours to play where as I would think it should take no more than 3.5 hours to play. No one was on 10. Maybe they could of started a group there? Everywhere you looked there were people including staff driving around on almost every hole. There was no peace and quiet and someone was always stopping and watching my shots. I would not play this course again. I got a decent deal on golfnow but would of been really upset had I of had to pay full price.
Course was in real good condition
The fairways were soft and well kept. Greens were normal fast and in good condition. We had a lot of rain 2 days before so there was some soaked areas off to the sides of fairways in the first rough but nothing overly unexpected. Not overly challenging which also means only a couple lost balls!
Good course in good shape.
nice course, nice price
Good conditioning.
Greens were great, but sneaky tricky.
Although I did not, it does look like an easy walking course - flat.
Price was $35 with cart. Good value for money.
A Very Enjoyable Course
Willodell is always in good shape and has a very friendly staff. Fairways are narrow and lined with trees and bunkers surround the greens. Water comes into play on a few holes and the greens are not too difficult.
Its very flat so many people walk. Seniors seem to really enjoy it there.
Fantastic course
This course is a hidden gem. Very mature course with generous landing areas. Excellent condition. Best greens I have ever putted on. Perfect and fast. Pace of play was excellent and staff very friendly. Will definitely play there again soon. Best value for your money.
Another Niagara Opportunity
Its a moderately challenging course. Its a little longer than what I normally play. Greens were in good condition and fairways fair to good. Sand traps were inconsistent in terms of the amount of sand in them. Often better not to blast out.
clubs
My clubs fell off the cart twice while I ws playing. The second time the head of my new driver broke off. The course has offered to replace the shaft for me for free. What a wonderful thing to do. I can't say enough about this course and the management----RON BERNARD
Bang For Your Buck...?
Be ready to golf. The front nine at Willodell is burdened with difficulty, whereas the back nine pales in comparison. Your round begins with two par 5's, soon followed by the two most difficult holes on the course (hole 4 - a 430 yard par 4; hole 5 - a 189 par 3 laden with bunkers). Through ten holes, you will have played 4/5 of the course's par 5's and the rest of your round will be comprised of relatively unchallenging par 3's and 4's that allow you to recoup after its exhausting beginning. Moreover, the layout of the course is extremely strange. The holes run parallel to one another, lacking variety. Furthermore, the rolling fairways are so hilly that they become irritating: you will never have a flat lie even if you place the ball perfectly down the middle of the fairway. However, the course as a whole was relatively well kept.. Conversely, the staff was sub-par. While the starter was extremely friendly, the marshal pushed us through the final two holes (watching our every shot), despite the fact that we finished in under four hours, and we were one of the last two groups on the course (we played towards the end of the day - it seemed as though the marshal just wanted to get us off the course so he could go home). Ultimately, for the price, Willodell is hard to pass up for locals. But for visitors, it's a hazard worth avoiding.
Course conditions............shaggy
I've been coming here for 40 years. Always loved the immaculate shape it has been in.
This time on a long weekend...... no signs of having used a mower recently. Hard to distinguish any cut lines from the fairways to the rough.
I'll be back but was disappointed after expecting what I was used to seeing.
