About
Located in a spectacular natural setting against the backdrop of the Niagara River whirlpool and gorge, this magnificent and challenging championship course was designed by the legendary golf architect Stanley Thompson. Owned and operated by The Niagara Parks Commission since 1951, Whirlpool is considered as one of the Top 100 Courses in Canada.
Directions: From Toronto: Approach Niagara Falls on the QEW. Just after crossing the St. Catharines Skyway, take the 405 exit towards the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge to the USA. Just before the bridge, take the last exit to the Niagara Parkway. Turn right off the ramp onto the Niagara Parkway. Whirlpool Golf Course is 4km down the road on the right hand side

Bonus round
Course in wind down mode. No starters, marshalls, beverage cart. Greens lightly aerated.
Still one of the best in the region
Was quite windy on this day but the course is in great condition. Staff here are always friendly & accommodating. Usually allow you to start before the scheduled tee time. This has been one of my favourite courses over all the years that I have played.

great course great staff one of the top courses in the region
The course is in great shape now. . It becomes difficult in the 50 km winds .however the fairway s and the greens were in prime shape.
This course must be played by golfers who enjoy a challenge.

bFavourite Niagara area course
I try to get out here at least 3 or 4 times a season. I played twice this month, Oct 1 and Oct 16. This is a great Stanley Thompson designed track...a great old style design. The course is still in great shape considering it's mid-October. The fairways were a bit soggy yesterday, resulting in a few "fat" shots but we were still able ride out to our balls. (90° rule). Greens were in nice shape. It wasn't busy but it was a fairly chilly Monday. Not many leaves on the course for mid-October, but then again, a lot of the trees are pines. People complain about the helicopters but I've played here enough times that I've learned to tune them out. :)
Staff is great here, always treat us very well. Excellent restaurant too! Great food! Can't wait for next season!

Play was too slow
In the past I had really enjoyed playing this course. Yesterday the pace of play was too slow and because of wet conditions it was cart path only.
Too bad there were no Marshall s on the course to keep it moving.

Whirlpool: It is in the Best Shape it has Been in Years
Whirlpool Golf course is a challenging track. There are windows and holes that look easy on the card but then there are protected pins and protected greens to deal with. There are short par fives that are tight and long par fours (often back to back) that both demand precision with a tee shot and a wood or long iron to the green.
Over the last few years, Whirlpool seemed to have become the Cinderella to its two bigger and newer sisters, the great courses down the road on the other side of the Falls at Legends (Battlefield and Ussher's Creek). There was a tough winter a few years back that required severe maintenance to repair some greens that complicated this as well.
I am happy to say that the course is now completely recovered and that it is in absolutely wonderful shape.
Play here often whenever you are in the WNY Area or Niagara Region of Canada. It is worth the money and you will be challenged by the course.

Old style tree lined golf course
The good. Greens in good shape. Staff are friendly. New Carts. Long par 3's a number of par 5's. Good pace of play
The bad. The (non stop) helicopters. No driving range. Fairways very wet

we had a great round even though it was very hot , would have liked to see the beverage cart a little more often. Nice course , fairways good and greens run true.

Whirlpool
My wife and I played this course a few years back, enjoyed it then enjoyed it now. Course was in good shape, play moved fast, and rangers were constantly on the move.

Just a nice old course I would play again!
Great course for the money which included a cart. Tees are nice , fairways nice, Greens are a little slow but easy to read, Sand traps are pretty hard, they need grooming . Lots of helicopters overhead but for the real golfer that focuses on ones game they wont even phase you.

Great experience
Great experience on this interesting parkland course. Much needed tree removal/maintenance has taken place and the course is in great shape. A good test of golf from any tees. Only area for improvement: consistent receptiveness of greens to approach shots.

Whirlpool
It was a very nice and fair course with lots of ambience. A nice mixture of hole types and a good test of your golf game. It was right next to the falls in Niagara so there were helicopters overhead most of the time. But that was a small distraction.
