Thundering Waters Golf Club
About
Thundering Waters Golf Club, so named for its proximity to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, has a unique layout that combines a parkland course with the tricky elements of a heathland golf course. There is an interesting combination of drivable par 4s and scenic par 3s that will provide a formidable test for even the most skilled players. The golf course first winds through heavily wooded patches and then finds its way to rugged hills dotted with thick fescue where true links-style holes with deep bunkers and large, undulating greens await you. The layout also features several doglegs and more than 100 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Water hazards come into play on 10 holes. Thundering Waters Golf Club was Canada's first John Daly signature golf course.

Waste of MONEY !!!!!
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY !!!!
Course had heavy ruts on EVERY green. It is impossible for your ball to break normally. Sometimes you are putting with the ruts, other times on a 45 or 90 degree angle, etc, It's as if a tractor pulled across a heavy garden rake. I've never seen anything like it; even with October aeration. There are also a few tee boxes that were totally dried out; hammering in your tee. There is also a high rise being built. There is constant jack hammering echoing through your entire round. When we complained, the manager had no ideas his greens were in such poor condition. We waited while he inspected the 18th green, We paid full rate and were only offered a rain check after he conceded the poor condition. Beyond these issues, the course layout is quite awkward. You can immediately tell that they had very limited property to work with and the houses look like public housing crammed wherever they could find a spot. This should be rated negative 5. WONDERFUL TIME!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this course. The staff were all VERY friendly. The course was very well maintained. The layout was gorgeous. The difficulty was extremely difficult (for us amateurs), however I loved the challenge. The food was very good. I would definitely recommend this course.
Great Course Layout, poorly maintained
Enjoyable golf layout. Challenging greens in excellent condition.
Tee boxes - had to pound in tees with the clubs.
Sand Traps - No sand, burlap showing, Lousy condition
Staff - Unfriendly
Mowers continued to cut on the greens even when we were putting and on approach shots.
I think John Daly would be very disappointed in the condition of his design.
Would not go again, and wouldn't recommend it to anybody, regardless of handicap.
Terrible layout
Course has 6 par 3 - 6 par 4 and 6 par 5. This course has been destroyed by all the housing being built. Very difficult for average players with a huge amount of sand traps everywhere. Course was ok for condition but not worth the money.
Course in great shape
I had not played here for a few years. The course was exactly how I remembered it. It can be challenging if you miss the fairway. Greens putted true.
Awesome course
we had a wonderful game of golf and enjoyed the course
Thundering Waters
Very disappointed in the sand traps. They dominate the course which would be a lot of fun however the traps have Noy been maintained and they are not playable.
Very Acommadating
I called early in the day to see if we could change our tee time to play as a twosome as we had been paired up for our original tee time. They were able to make that change. As we were coming from out of town we arrived an hour early. We spoke to the starter and he recommended a restaurant for lunch. When we came back they had everything ready for us. He spent time to explain the course and let us go early. 2 complaints, no real driving range and the holes are all over so lots of driving around. Other then that great facility and friendly staff.
Hit and Miss
Play in the league at this course. Usually play 2 or 3 times a month.
Played for the first time this season yesterday and hopefully it gets a lot better.
The greens were so incredibly slow. Its been a great spring for course conditions in the area and these greens were unusually slow it makes the course play completely different and not all that fun to play.
Bunkers were in terrible condition, looked as though they have not been raked in days.
Halfway house and Clubhouse both closed early and on a league night does not make much sense. The clubhouse has always been a bad setup being it isn't even an actual restaurant more of a snack shop but at least stay open when you have a league night going on.
Losing its appeal
Playing this course 1-2 times every year. Rather disappointed with the general up keep of the course and facilities. Immaculate manicured bunkers are no more. First time we encountered dandelions and weeds on the fairways. Greens much slower than in previous years
I'm sorry you didn't have an optimal experience. Dandelions and weeds are certainly not commonplace on our fairways, we will investigate this further. We do appreciate your input and will share your comments with our superintendent.
Short but challenging...
This is one of those courses you love or aren't pleased with. My friends and I loved this course! The guys up front talking to us about the layout and the challenges this course hold for you definitely helped us decide how to approach the course. Is it really long? No. Is it tough? You bet!
This course makes you think about everything you have in the bag, and if you have the guts to risk it, or just play for par and lay up.
And considering how early it is in the season, the course was in great shape. The staff were a tremendous help right off the hop, and everyone was super friendly. Looking forward to going back later in the season for a few more cracks at this beauty!
Great course
This was a great course. The “hot deal” from Golf Now was fantastic!!!
Difficult day
Course was in good condition considering it's early in the year. Greens not quite as good as they normally are on this course. Was a very windy day so a more difficult round than usual.

Ron, we are always appreciative of feedback, both positive and negative. Our greens were verticut on that day (the reason for the markings), and we did/do apologize for that - we previously unaware until you come in. Some concessions including a complimentary round was offered for your group by our guest services manager. We cannot control the development going on around us, and we do recognize that the setting has changed, however, we do believe that we still offer our patrons a good golf experience. Thank you again for the feedback, it will be shared with the team.
