Thundering Waters Golf Club
About
Thundering Waters Golf Club, so named for its proximity to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, has a unique layout that combines a parkland course with the tricky elements of a heathland golf course. There is an interesting combination of drivable par 4s and scenic par 3s that will provide a formidable test for even the most skilled players. The golf course first winds through heavily wooded patches and then finds its way to rugged hills dotted with thick fescue where true links-style holes with deep bunkers and large, undulating greens await you. The layout also features several doglegs and more than 100 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Water hazards come into play on 10 holes. Thundering Waters Golf Club was Canada's first John Daly signature golf course.

GREAT GOLF
The course was in excellent condition considering all the rain this spring. We were greeted by the starter upon arrival and allowed to start right away the pace of play was excellent and the round of golf extremely enjoyable. We will return to play it again
First round of the year
We teed off at 8:30 am with very windy snow flurry conditions.
First round of the year wasn't expecting much.
Course staff excellent fairways very good considering the rain the last few days.
Sand traps ...should be changed to grass traps as there is little to no sand present.
I have played here before anf the course will firm up and play much better.
Good for fall golf
Course was a bit wet in the low areas but was in very good condition. The layout is quite good and the weather was very warm and sunny with a bit of wind. All considered was a very good day.
Tight course, bad drainage
Going in I knew the course is a very tight course so get ready to lose a lot of golf balls. Some holes have such bad drainage that you can't even drive your cart on the fairways.
Was happy to say I have played the course but not on my list to run out and play again.
Awesome
Always enjoy a round of golf at Thundering Waters. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. My fail getaway golf course.
Great
would go back in a heart beat. Had a friend from Australia, and anther from Hearst Ontario..They enjoy the day
Skip It
This used to be a fun, well-conditioned course to play ... 10 years ago. I wish I had taken some pictures to show you all but I have seen driving ranges with tee decks in better condition than those at this course. #10 tee box (170ish par 3) is literally 2 paces wide with nary a tuft of grass or a flat spot on it.
Greens were spotty and the grounds crew was still fixing up traps at 1pm. The course has no rangers and starters put out a mix of 2 somes and 4 somes on a busy day making for a horrific pace of play. After 3 hours we arrived at #13 to find 2 groups waiting so we packed it in in frustration.
Needless to say with Grand Niagara, Usher's Creek, Battlefield and Whirlpool to play when you are in the Falls I would not recommend TW at virtually any price.
Golfing for fun
It as a fun day golfing. The weather was perfect. Played the round with my son and a couple we met on the first tee.
The course was in good condition. And we were having a nice time. Nice enough to not notice the waits we have to do intermittently as the twosome ahead of us needs to wait on the flight ahead of them.
After our round the rain started to fall blessing a nice round of golf.
Good Value
The coarse is in great shape. Tight coarse with its fair share of water and sand traps. Difficult to play the first time as there was no GPS on the carts. The coarse was a bit noisy between helicopters, planes, weed wackers , lawn mowers and construction. Great coarse for the value. Would not recommend this coarse to an unskilled golfer.
Bunker rescue
Played this course on vacation and was surprised by all of the bunkers and how bad the sand was in everyone of them. The fairways and greens were great. The pace was slow because of a best ball tournament. We were paired up with two great ladies that had played the course before and that helped a lot. Starter and the young lady in the restaurant were very friendly but the pro shop person didn't really seem like he wanted to be there. I would recommend this course but long hitters leave your driver home.
Great track
Great day out on the course. Conditions were excellent.
Took 5.5 hours to play 13 holes
We waited on every hole. It took us 5.5 hours to play 13 holes. We should have been done the round. We left early because of the ridiculous wait time. For almost $70 play another course in Niagara
Appreciate the review, and kudos to you for playing in snow flurries! LOL FYI, traps are our #1 priority as far as grounds this year.
