Thundering Waters Golf Club
About
Thundering Waters Golf Club, so named for its proximity to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, has a unique layout that combines a parkland course with the tricky elements of a heathland golf course. There is an interesting combination of drivable par 4s and scenic par 3s that will provide a formidable test for even the most skilled players. The golf course first winds through heavily wooded patches and then finds its way to rugged hills dotted with thick fescue where true links-style holes with deep bunkers and large, undulating greens await you. The layout also features several doglegs and more than 100 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Water hazards come into play on 10 holes. Thundering Waters Golf Club was Canada's first John Daly signature golf course.

Great conditions for the time of year
The course is an interesting layout and in good shape for October.
Great value and will play again.
this course has great features but had rained for the past 2 days
at this time of year the course was in good shape despite all the rain we had the past 2 days
only issue was due to the rain the cart path only rule applies and the fairways were casual water in a lot of areas, leading to a few chunked shots.
Also traps were hard and bumpy with ridges and some had standing water. Oddly though I made saves when I went into them two of the three times
Excellent Course
I expected a lot going to thundering waters for the first time, and because i did some research found it one of the most enjoyable courses in Niagara just behind Grand Niagara and Penn Lakes.
As most people have noted it is a super short course from the whites or blues. Anyone under a 15 handicap should be playing from the Blacks. ( 6153 yards ) Even this is not a long course, but the layout and diversity of holes is spectacular. The par 3s are challenging and may holes require quality shot making that i can appreciate.
My group played early Sunday Morning, third group off the start and at this time the course was nothing but pristine from tee to green. I found myself in a few bunkers all of which were up to much higher standards then other courses in Niagara, and one of the few that use high quality sand.
GPS on the carts is a nice added touch. The system worked well, i could see it more useful to someone playing the course for the first time.
My whole foursome all thought this was one of the best course we played this year and would play it again.
You need to bring your mental game along with you physical game.
Surprised by the short distance! However, if you are not in fairway, expect to pay for miscue. Undulating green add to difficulty. I think this course would make long hitters realize that brawn is not as important .as mental prowess.
Disappointing
Expected more...No flow to the course. Most holes do not line up with the next hole. Good shape, some good holes, tough par 3's.
much shorter than I expected, but lots of bunkers and water
course is shorter than I expected. most courses I play the white tees, this course I played the blues and if I play again I would consider the blacks
a nice layout
our gps was hard to read due to the brightness control not working. no marshalls to move golfers at a reasonable pace having to wait on tees for most of the round which was 5+ hrs. could only get drinks at the turn since lions den was closed. the most amusing part of the day came when we finished and the staff were rushing to the 10th tee because someone was running onto the green taking golf balls.
Great Day
We played on a Friday and were never pressured and never really had to wait, the course was very wet but I dont recall any rain so they must water heavily slowed the ball down in some areas. All in all a fun round and now I can say I've played it!
Good value
This course offers a good balance of risk/reward shots and provides a nice layout. The greens were being aerated which impacted the conditions of the greens, but overall the course was in good condition. Played early so was able to complete the round in less than 2.5hrs.
Would play again after the aeration is completed to get a true feel for the greens which require good approach shot placement .
Fine golf course!
This is an excellent shotmakers course. It is not long, but is tight with a good number of strategic par 4's. Each hole is well framed by woodlands and marsh and is very appealing to the eye. I played the day after the course had been hammered by torrential rainfall. It was, of course, soft and most of the the bunkers had water in them, but fairways, tees and greens were all otherwise in fine shape. I must confess that I had second thoughts about the course before playing it when I read some earlier negative reviews, but I put myself in the camp of those who liked it. I really enjoyed my round and would definitely play it again given the opportunity.
Like playing a real life round of Golden Tee
This has to be my favorite course in Niagara Falls. A great day starts as soon as you pull up to the front doors. I was greated with a smile, my clubs were carried strait to a cart and the gentleman even filled up my travel mug with a fresh cup of coffee. The staff also introduced me to my playing partners. I think that's a small thing that really puts people at ease when playing with strangers. It throws any awkwardness right out the window.
From tee to green this course is a real treat on the eyes. Large tee blocks, great fairways, and greens are as good as you are gonna get on a public course. This course is just really fun to play. It is built with a lot of risk reward. You can take the easy route or you can beef up your driver and put it in a spot that you would think only PGA pros could hit. I can only describe it as playing a round of Golden Tee golf. If you got the " balls" to try it you can be on the green on a par 4 with your drive. Of course there is big risk and huge reward. And the par 3's are really well designed. I hate par threes to begin with but here they are a pleasure to play because they are so nice and creative.
The carts Cary an iPad sized GPS that gives the locations and distances of basically everything on the course. This is a big help and really assists in scoring well.
Play thundering waters. It's the best
Great Condition 08/19/13
Secured an early tee time on Aug. 19. 2013.
Female rep. at front desk very courteous and knowledgeable.
Bag drop rep. in front, the same.
Thought conditions were very good.
Greens were fast and rolled true.
The lone bunker I was in was raked and sand was of sufficient quality to blast out of.
Pace of play was awesome (just 4 hours).
Second time playing this year.
Definitely enjoy the back 9 more ... that 1 very short par 3 on front, not a fan of.
All in all, good golfing experience.
Excellent Course, in Good Shape
Played here the other day in a twosome and were paired up with another group. We all thought this was an excellent course. The course was in great shape, bunkers everywhere which makes shot location important. The staff we spoke to were very nice. It was our first time playing but we will be back.
Overall Good Course
Had never played the course so I figured I'd give it a shot. Had a tee time of 7:34 but there was at least a 20 minute delay before we could tee off. Disappointed that we had to wait for a late group rather than keeping things moving. Course was good, bunkers are everywhere. Greens were in good shape.
A Pretty course with lots of sand traps for the errant shot.
Not particularly long for a John Daley course. We had a great time and the employee at the Field House was very friendly. A good layout with sand traps everywhere. I did notice that players did not repair divots in the fairway or ball marks on the green. Wear and tear was beginning to show around the greens and tee boxes. Overall though an enjoyable experience.
Nice course, but...
Staff could be a bit more enthusiastic. Only the halfway house girl greeted us with smiles. There is no driving range (thanks to housing development), just a hitting area with nets. The front nine is very challenging. Back nine is more manageable. Some of the greens needed attention.
Big beautiful greens
This course is very challenging for all levels of golfers and superbly maintained. The management and staff are very friendly and value for the dollar is for sure worth the play. A must play.
Great value for money. Must play.
The course was in very good shape for the amount of rain that came the night before. Challenging course that will test your accuracy.
