14th tee at Glen Abbey. One of the toughest drives on tour. Photo submitted by Chris5757223 on 02/12/2016
Has Glen Abbey given up?
I live in Oakville and always wanted to play Glen Abbey.
I know there is work to do at the course until the Open but if I was a paying Clublink member I’d be really upset at the course conditions. And especially the first 5 holes which may as well have been on a public municipal course. Weeds everywhere, bunkers with a lack of sand and rakes, bone hard fairways, general aspects like paths as one example of what should be a premium course looking very poor. Certainly relative to expectations. The back nine better than the front the only consolation.
Still the staff were nice, but overall my first and likely now my only edpeience was a very big let down.
Windy Day at Glenn Abbey
Course is in good condition. Temporary green on 11, and temporary hole on 12 as they are repairing greens on those holes. Does not take away from playing a round at the Abbey.
Hi George6688892.
Thanks for the 5 star review! We hope we see you back at the club again, soon!
Unreal
Amazing time playing this course. Pretty wide open front which helps you score well. The back Valley is one of the most scenic views in golf.
Greens have wild slopes and tiers but playing slow at this point in the season (early May). I would have scored much worse if the greens were up to speed. I can’t wait to come back
Hi u953690087.
Thanks for the positive review! If there is anything we can do to ensure we are a 5 star facility next time, please let us know!
We look forward to your return visit.
Hi u000004572359.
Thanks for the 5 star review! We are glad to see you enjoyed your round, we hope to see you back at the club soon.
November golf at the Abbey
Course was in great shape. Staff was great. Tee time delayed by frost. Greens were fast and true. Only one complaint, yardage from the green was very hard to find. Last played here in 1978.
Swamp
It is always fun to play the Abbey but this was a tough day. Winds up to 45km/hr, course was drenched and standing water all over, cart path only.
I met up with some very nice people which helped. This was the wettest course I have ever played. Balls plugging all over plus the wind. I know the course can't control the weather but man, it was soaked.
I was on 16 in two, lagged it down for the birdie.
Great Old Classic Glen Abbey
Same old Glen Abbey not much has changed great coarse to play, great shape..only down fall is when you run into members who roam around and play slow not caring if they will finish their round or not....we started early enough to finish before dark but were held up greatly..it took one of our foursome to call in and get a marshal out to get them moving but it didn't help move things at all it seemed that it actually got slower...AWSOME...CLUB LINK SUCKS...LOL
October in Oakville
An excellent experience. We were running late due to an accident that snarled traffic- the proshop was very accommodating, but the starter did give us a bit of a hard time. The course itself was beautiful and the conditions perfect. It was cart path only but we didn't mind. Numerous food options available on site. It was great to play a course where we've watched the pros play on many occasions.
First for this one
Had to finish in the dark due to slow group in front of us
Good Course. Could Be So Much Better.
Course was in great condition for September. Bunkers were inconsistent likely due to the rain the night before. Pace of place was not great although this was likely due to one extremely slow foursome. We played 18 holes and did not see one food/beverage cart! For the price and caliber of the course, the golf carts should have GPS and ball/club cleaners. Marshals were also nowhere to be found to speed up slow players. Lots to like about Glen Abbey. Lots that Clublink can do to improve the golfer experience.
Great day
Course was in good shape but green on eleven not in use and fifteen closed because of the upcoming Canadian Open. It was my Son's first time playing this course and he enjoyed his day. Birdie on the eighteen hole capped my day
Glen Abbey
12 degrees and 30 km winds made for a tough round, blue tees were generous, if weather was better would have played champion tees. Course in good condition for this time of year. Greens rolled great! Pace of play was slow. Always great to play the Abbey though.
Hi MrBottone.
Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with us. We will soon have the greens on 11 & 12 back to our expectations, we hope you re-join us for another round then!
