Overrated
The host venue for the RBC Canadian Open - PGA Event.
The course is overrated, however a very good golf experience.
Practice area is top notch!
Quite an experience
You have seen the course many times in tv, but to play it, it is even better in person. Pretty forgiving off the tee, the greens are difficut but in great shape and roll pure and true. One of the best courses I have ever played. Only downside was the lack of marshals doing their job to maintain pace of play.
Thank you! We hope you get back again soon.
Amazing except the pro shop staff
Had a fantastic time on this course. Perfectly maintained and extremely challenging! So many well placed bunkers along the fairway and guarding every green.
The practice area is top notch as is the course in general. It was a 5 hr round but there are worse places to spend 5 hrs on a sunny Saturday!
My only real complaint is that when I checked in for my tee time, the pro shop attendant did not mention we would be teeing off the 10th hole. This resulted in our group waiting by the 1st tee for awhile before the starter came to get us and we ended up teeing off about 10 minutes late and wanted to catch up to the group in front of us. Never a good feeling to be under pressure playing your first hole of the day. A very easily avoidable situation that shouldn't have occurred.
Thanks for your kind words about the golf course. We'll take a bogey on the tee time and do hope you return again to experience our high standard of service.
the course is amazing, the back nine is really beautiful ..
The day was fantastic and the course looked as great as ever. My client and I had a great round for our standards, justify the green fee rate for the recreational golfer. Specifically, converting to white sand bunkers to give a fresh, upscale look. Striving for greatness never stops, and with the addition and renovation of new upscale public courses across the GTA in recent years, specifically Angus Glen and Eagle's Nest - it's time for Glen Abbey to rise above once again
Thank you!
Very enjoyable late afternoon round!
Had a great time. Have not played the Abbey in years. We were off at 4:48 and with the exception of # 11 (as expected) we had really no delays. Staff was great. Golf course surprisingly was not too beat up this soon after the open. 18 was a challenge as it was overcast which impacted the natural light available. Three good friends not playing like it was the open equaled a great late afternoon round. As a side note and slightly disappointingly..... The clubhouse is really showing it's age. Not sure what if anything can be done without major dollars being invested.
Thanks and we look forward to having you back.
squeezing us on
Course was in amazing shape after the OPEN but they put me and my buddy out at 530. My buddy and I usually get around that course in 3 and a half hours and should have been done before dark but there was so many people jammed on the course we only got to play 11 holes so sadly It was an expensive 11 holes because so many groups were jammed on the course.
We're sorry to hear that the pace slowed during your evening round. We do hope that you return to enjoy a normal pace around the golf course.
6:10 Round - Marshals should be fired!
For a course that advertises and prides itself on a 4 hour round, our round yesterday was anything but. From the first hole, it was hit and wait. On multiple holes there were 4 foursomes within sight of each other. The one Marshall we saw gave a half hearted disinterested excuse that they were trying their best. The rest of the 6 hours, none could be found.
For a course that's hosting the Canadian Open in a week, I found the course mgmt totally inept and have experienced better at a muni course. I would caution anyone that's interested in playing this course to plan accordingly.
Our sincere apology for your experience. Please come back and try us again.
greens the best
the pass of play very slow,,and when asked the marshal to try and speed play up,,got attitude
Thank you for taking time to respond and we do pride ourselves on good pace and a great golf experience. Come back and try us again.
Loved the course
Was a little intimidated at first but settled in nicely .Group in front studied every shot a little long and really slowed down the pace .Our group and two foursomes behind were all trying to get the 18 in but ,you know the guys who think there playing the open ,nothing quick about there game .
We're very pleased to hear that you were able to overcome the slow group in front and enjoy your day. Please come and see us again.
Home of the Canadian Open
Course was in very nice shape. Greens were excellent. Bunkers were average. Fun course to play. Rough still manageable this far before the open.
May long weekend 2015
Fabulous weather coupled with a beautiful course made for a great afternoon of golf. Only got 16 holes completed before sunset. Challenging course with lots of nice scenary. We did see a coyote in the trees close to hole 13 but it didn't approach us. Would definately book again.
Getting Ready for the Open
Typical Nicklaus course with bunkering used to crush you at every swing.
Greens had been aerated several weeks ago; but were ok. Speed was OK. Just a tiny bit rough.
Bunkers were being prepared for the Open so were messy.
Speed of play was 4.5 hours...OK
Wow Wow Wow....
Ontario's most famous Golf Course, Tiger Woods won here the Canadian Open 2006 and it was a real pleasure to play here. It was a tournament and that day, there were three tournaments, but we had the feeling to be alone on the course. Never hold up, never someone was pushing from behind, only us and some maintainer. We enjoyed to be out there and while we were still gaping hole by hole, the play was over... Of course it is very expensive compared to other high class golf courses. But to be hones - we can be glad it is open to the public and so if you have the possibility to play there - do it.
Awe And Wonder
My father retired this year and I could think of no better present than a round at the fabled Glen Abbey. We were not dissapointed. From the parking lot to the 18th green we encountered fantastic service from the staff (on 14 one of the maintenance workers found and flagged one of my wayward drives!), impecible facilites, and a challenging and rewarding golf experience. That being said, the price tag puts it out of reach for anything but an extravagent, once-in-a-lifetime trip. There are many golf courses that, in my opinion, are close to the same quality but are half the price of a green fee at Glen Abbey. I would definitely recommend playing Glen Abbey at least once in your life as it is not only a historic center of Canadian golf history, but one of most beautiful tracks in North America.
Thank you for responding. We pride ourselves on a high standard of golf experience.
