Winchester Golf Club
About
Winchester Golf Club is a short and sweet 5,200 yards from the tips. Those looking for length will have to go elsewhere, but if you want a quick round, this course can be played in less than four hours. The course is situated among Brooklin's gently rolling hills, which are covered by forests that are part of the Oak Ridges Moraine. The player-friendly layout is ideal for beginners. It is also a great place for kids to learn how to play. The golf course is not difficult by any means but it provides good practice. There are a few challenges spread throughout, including a fair number of bunkers bordering the greensides. Its forgiving nature and risk-reward opportunities make it a great place for golf tournaments as well.

Never to return
We wanted to spend a nice Friday afternoon playing golf. Instead we were mistreated by having 6 players have a fun game ignoring that backups were occurring. Understand that the owner's son-law takes over the course with his friends and doesn't care about the paying customers. Along with loud swearing and generally poor golf etiquette we will never return to this club and having been telling others only to find they have had the same experience. Others we met that day will also never return. We missed playing some holes because of these six players playing together and holding up play. we did not get our monies worth. Left very frustrated!!!
A very poorly designed course in a great location
Very disappointing. Ravine and valley as well as hills. Course is somewhat difficult and challenging. There was a par 5 at 400 yards on the front 9 and a par 5 at 500 yerads on the back nine. Most of the rest of the holes were par 4's and were either less than 300 yards or slightly more than 300 yards. Consequently, play backs up since, even a light hitter must wait until the players in front have either reached the green or, in most cases, have exited the green. Impatient players, who drive after the players in front have hit their 2nd shot, significantly endanger the payers in front. Not a well designed course in such a beautiful and challenging location. I would never want to play this course again!!
Great condition
Course was in good condition and speed of play very good until 10th tee. After 9 holes other players driving back from lunch at club house cut in front of us and slowed the speed of play down. Otherwise good executive course.
Short but challenging.
Course conditions were decent, greens in good shape.
Only issue is huge disparity between yardage from scorecard and hole sign yardage markers.
not worth the money
greens were a 4 out 5
course layout was 2 out 5
tee blocks were 1 out 5
needed more yardage signs on dog leg holes
Nice place to play
I have been to this course twice and work at a golf course and I find this course very enjoyable because it is short but very challenging. We took three hours to play and were very satisfied by the pace and conditions.
fantasctic
I love it
very good golf clob
nice wather,best place
thanks for booking
Nice Course
A nice moderate course. Some good holes, but nothing too challenging. Nice course for some relaxing play. Drink cart was a little slow but came around twice in 18 holes. There was no convenient stopping after 9 holes for food, drinks or a quick rest.
Good day of golf
Overall good experience...not top of the line but better than most. Narrow course...
Good time
Good course to get out on an swing all the sticks. It had been a while since I had played it so this refresher was nice. Shot pretty well too. Only downfall, saw the beer cart a handful of times however she only stopped once for me and it was on the 14th hole. Would have been nice a bit earlier in the round. But it was a good time all in all.
Great course ...but played thirsty
Forgot to add in my original review that for a hot humid day there was no beer/drink cart girl. We asked someone on the course doing maintenance on the greens and they said no one was coming out. The 10th hole house was closed. We were thirsty and could not even get a bottle of water, let alone a beer. That was my only real complaint.
Nicely maintained....but played thirsty
The course is open but for many holes it was challenging. We played in a twosome from the Gold tees. If you didn't hit it straight on this narrow holes you lost your ball. The course was very well maintained however. ice Greens throughout, except one which has a dead patch but you could see it was under repair. It was a struggle at times finding the next hole as the signs were not everywhere. That part was frustrating. We did finish in 2 hours and 45 min. Not many were on the course for a Sunday, but we tees off at noon and with the threat for rain and the World cup final on at 3, I bet most stayed away. It ended up with a sunny day with no rain....bonus.
I recommend this course for sure.
Hot Day in June
Played course for the first time with friends and we enjoyed the day. Smooth pace of play and good course conditions. It was a tough walk because of the heat that day. There was a couple of confusing green to tee excursions. It will be easier to negotiate around the course the second time. A perfect course for the average player. You can play all your golf clubs or be conservative.
this course is a chalange for weekend golfwers
course in very good condition, not exactly for beginners. narrow fairways with lots of trees, back 9 a little dangerous could be hit by other golfers who don't yell 4 when their balls are hit and going the wrong direction, Overall very challenging course, would play again.
winchester GC
trying to find a patch of grass on a few of the tee boxes is a challenge, but not as challenging as some of the narrowest tee shots ive ever looked down.. its a par 70, and the course is in very good shape (overall)
the greens are small targets, and be sure to check your putting line 3 times or more - espically at the few inches nearest the hole!
good staff and and a good, challenging round overall - will deffo return to teach those greens a lesson!
First time at Winchester.
First time at Winchester. Greens were very good as were the topographical changes. First nine was slow. The slow foursome only played nine. I could tell we could be in trouble when they were wearing sleeveless shirts. Back nine was much quicker. Still it was 4 hours. I would go back.
Fun Course, yet slow and confusing
I had a foursome out on this course, and we had booked a tee-time for 12:15. We didn't get on the course until close to 1pm as it was very busy (kind of defeats the purpose of the booking...). The tee boxes need some work, but overall the fairways and greens were nicely taken care of.
The course was very busy, and we were constantly waiting at least 15 minutes for each hole.
The course was also very confusing to get around. Hole 10 especially ... had no idea where to go to get to our balls!
We still had a great time, but only golf this course if you have at least 5 hours to spare.
Not bad
Nice little course, plenty of drivable par 4s but no particularly easy holes even though short, risk meets reward or disaster! Greens in nice shape, tee boxes need attention but other than that a very pretty and fun little course!
A pretty course popular with locals
A very nice and easy day out. Hilly terrain gives character to this pretty course. Although a somewhat short course, it has a number of challenging holes. Tee boxes were rough, hard to find grass on some of them. Many greens were still recovering from aeration but I have seen much worse this year. A good course if you have a mix of new and intermediate golfers in the group. Will play Winchester again.
Dangerous Tee and Green locations
This course even though is very affordable to what other courses charge, is extremely dangerous for most golfer due to the close proximity of tees and greens. Several times throughout our round we experienced balls flying in our direction, without even the courtesy of a "four". The majority of the tees were in terrible condition, teeing off from dirt instead of grass.
