Amazing course
The course was amazing. The greens are in great condition. Fairways are too! Its a course that puts a premium on hitting the straight. There are bushes around most holes and several hazards. Beautiful course to play. Would play again anytime! Friendly staff.
Good Value
Course layout is great. Conditions are great. We talk a little tight but very fair. I would okay here again.
Golf North ruins another golf course
This use to be a beautiful extremely well maintained private golf course which a pleasure to play. My friends would come from Burlington to play 8 to 10 times per year. June 19th was the first time one of my Burlington friends and I played since Golf North took over operation. The greens are are full of brown stains from over fertilizing, The rough is very deep and full of dead grass clippings making ball striking very difficult. Our cart died on the forth hole and my calls to the pro-shop went to the answering machine for 30 minutes. We were playing a course member how said how Golf North is only doing minimal maintenance, because the course is owned by a housing developer and will eventually become another subdivision for people to escape from the GTA! We will not return to the Oaks.
Pro staff and starter were great Course is drying out rough is long no sign of mowers on the front nine 3 Hr nine holes.
Players spending to much time looking for there 1.00 ball in the long rough .Greens are in good shape. Fairways weren't cut. Greens personnel could have been out there. Glad to see some new stone on the cart paths where it was needed.
Poorly Managed
I took my son to this course for his birthday. We arrived early and were told we had to tee off on the back 9. When we finished that 9 and returned to the first tee they had put several foursomes in front of us. When I asked why they said it was a mixup with the tee times. To make matters worse their clubhouse was closed for food and drinks etc at 10:30 am. So we left as we didn’t have time to play a 3 hr front 9.
Beautiful park-like layout
Each hole offers different challenges. The rough was long & lush so finding the ball was difficult. Some fairways were still somewhat wet due to recent rain but the overall conditions were very good.
The only downside was that there was a group of 11 in front of us who were taking too long. The player's assistance should have approached the first of the 3 groups and encouraged them to pick up the pace. We waited at every tee on the back nine...sometimes for more than 1 group.
Love the layout of the course. Greens in great shape. Course was pretty wet on spots but considering the amount of rain lately, still in great shape. Would always recommend it.
Slow Pace
Our threesome was started on 10 to avoid league play. This was appreciated by us but the group in front of us held a us up on most holes. Their group had numerous open holes in front of them and did not attempt to speed up their pace or let us play through. In fact, on our 12 hole they had a long conversation with the beverage girl, while we waited , and another with someone at the green. After they finished the hole, the “marshal” drove up to them and had another conversation. When we reached the green the “marshal” stared us down until we had to ask why. He made no attempt to listen to us and seemed annoyed with our complaint of the slow play of the group ahead of us. I have enjoyed playing The Oaks in the past but will not likely go back . Rumours have it that Golf North is going to bulldoze the course to make way for more houses. Shame, but doesn’t surprise me.
Golf north ruins another course
This is used to be a nice course until golf north took it over. Rough was so long and there were so many grass clippings you couldn’t find your ball. Grass that was cut was so uneven you wondered whether or not they actually had a blade in their mowers.
Carts are disgusting....mouldy seats and stalls when you hit the gas pedals. It took us 3 times to find a cart that was even close to useable,
I used to enjoy this course 2-3 times per year but will not return.
Slow play
Had a foursome that were very slow in part because it was cart paths only . It took too many holes before they let us play through. No marshals in sight. 5 hours on a Tuesday is too much
Great golf course.
This course plays much longer than score card indicates. Great layout with many hills and valleys. Very walkable.
The course was very wet and I don’t think anybody should have been allowed on course my 2 brothers couldn’t go more than 9, one is 76 the other 73 and it was a struggle for them to walk it, so I don’t think it was a very good deal today
Beautiful course for early in year... was pretty wet but lots of rain in the day before round, not course fault...
Had a great time and is a course I make sure I play a few times a year
