About
Set along the Rio Grande River, this is a scenic course with spectacular views. The front nine was built in 1987, and the back nine followed in 1992. The highlight of the course is what is perhaps the longest water hazard in Texas, the Rio Grande River, which flows along holes 5 through 13 on the left side of the fairway.
Narrow fairways and grass bunkers make the course tough, especially when the wind is howling, as it is tough to hit the small, firm greens. Water is everywhere. No. 14 is the only hole without water. The par 3 17th hole, with its island greens, headlines a series of demanding par 3 holes. The last hole plays 434 yards into the wind and has out-of-bounds on either side of the fairway.
Getting there : From Harlingen take Hwy. 77 south. When you come to Hwy. 802 turn right, then continue until you reach Hwy 281. Turn right again and drive approximately 2.5 miles to the course

Great course, good fun, simply beautiful
Love this course, the price is right, nice layout all along the Rio Grande, greens are slick for sure, VERY VERY scenic, affordable, love these little retirement communities like this with courses winding around them and I will be back.
Clippings
The only down side is that there are clumps of grass clippings being left all over the fairways.
Riverside along the Rio Grande
A beautiful course along the Rio Grande River. Not to tough but not too easy either. I would have given it 5 stars but the grounds are a little rough. They are leaving grass clips all over the fair way. This is the only reason it is a 4 star everything else is awesome

Very Nice Track
First of all the staff here is Right now over the top 😊 very helpful and they go the extra mile to help and to make your day at River Bend is fun and enjoyable. I have been playing here for awhile and always have a fun round. The fairways and tees are in good shape. The greens were being aerated and they were not in good shape. In a few weeks they should be in good shape 😊👍
So many bugs!!
Beyond an unreal amount of gnats and mosquitoes, you couldn’t even putt without a swarm on your face.
Summer Time private course
We used GN and got a 10:45 tee time and seemed like we were the only ones out there. It was great. Course was in good shape. Crew cutting grass were very friendly.
