About
Set along the Rio Grande River, this is a scenic course with spectacular views. The front nine was built in 1987, and the back nine followed in 1992. The highlight of the course is what is perhaps the longest water hazard in Texas, the Rio Grande River, which flows along holes 5 through 13 on the left side of the fairway.
Narrow fairways and grass bunkers make the course tough, especially when the wind is howling, as it is tough to hit the small, firm greens. Water is everywhere. No. 14 is the only hole without water. The par 3 17th hole, with its island greens, headlines a series of demanding par 3 holes. The last hole plays 434 yards into the wind and has out-of-bounds on either side of the fairway.
Getting there : From Harlingen take Hwy. 77 south. When you come to Hwy. 802 turn right, then continue until you reach Hwy 281. Turn right again and drive approximately 2.5 miles to the course

Play it again
A great course, little to no wait getting started, but once on course, people move along very quickly. Greens are almost back
Play at your own pace
Very few people on the course this time of year, they have punched the greens, and they are filling in very nice, they have now punched the tea boxes, and those should come back very nicely as well. A few bare spots on the course, but nothing that would hinder your play.
Plugged Day
Greens are coming in nicely after air-ration, the tee box has been plugged, and with the rain, you had mud buildup on your feet. Still, I would play it again.
Parts of the course was under maintenance
Greens weren’t very good. Felt like I couldn’t get a smooth putt on the greens. Tee boxes were being worked on so it messed with the experience a little. Course usually isn’t like this. I think they were preparing for the summer.
Golf deal
It was awesome to get a deal on their course. It would have been nice to know before I booked that the greens had been aerated and sanded prior to booking.
Pace of play
It should not take 4 hours and 40 minutes for a round of golf. They need a ranger to get people moving
VERY slow pace
The pace of 2 groups of men ahead of us (3 women) was extremely slow. We waited at every tee box except 2) and most fairway shoes. At one point we were at the tee box when they were about 29’ ahead of us (2nd shots) - 1 man asked the other to let us play through - ‘no’ it was. We asked a “Player’s Assistant” to help pick up the pace, but he said he couldn’t do anything for us. A different Player’s Assistant drove past us without acknowledging us ~ but did talk with the male golfers.
VERY rude male golf course members.
We played on a very windy day. The Marshal or starter letting people out too quick I waited every shot. And people standing right behind me wanting to shoot not much fun when you have people on top of you all day long
