About
The Heron Course is one of two 18-hole courses at Cardinal Lakes Golf Club. It is the club's newer championship layout, designed to complement the original course, the executive-length Sparrow. It is 6,765 yards from the back tees but it feels as though it is considerably longer since many holes play into the prevailing wind. The golf course combines elements of classic links, parkland, and Carolinian courses. The generous fairways are guarded by bunkers and the large, fast greens are gently contoured and surrounded by trees. Water is a prominent feature throughout, coming into play on all but four holes. The layout saved the most challenging for last with its signature 18th hole, a par 3 with a tricky island green.

Good Day!
The course was in pretty good shape … except the sand traps were brutal. They were working on edging them while I was there but the volume and consistency of sand was terrible. I was only in the trap twice and both times it was nearly unplayable. Glad I got such a deal, however I didn’t get my expected tee time that I purchased.

This course never fails to deliver on excellence at a very fair price.

Yep I lost a few. But the pairing was great fun and the course was in great shape.
Bad decision to add resin cup inserts to the top
I probably wont be back due to the cups have inserts all the way to the level of the green. I felt like I was at a mini putt course. Lip outs like crazy! Great championship layout....course was in ok shape...we havent had any rain in 2 weeks so all courses are hard and brown. I can't blame the super for that. Just the inserts decision!

I always enjoy playing at Cardinal Lakes. If you are on your game , Cardinal Lakes can be had. I really enjoy the 17th hole with its Risk /Reward opportunity.
