Cardinal Lakes Golf Club - Heron Course

About
The Heron Course is one of two 18-hole courses at Cardinal Lakes Golf Club. It is the club's newer championship layout, designed to complement the original course, the executive-length Sparrow. It is 6,765 yards from the back tees but it feels as though it is considerably longer since many holes play into the prevailing wind. The golf course combines elements of classic links, parkland, and Carolinian courses. The generous fairways are guarded by bunkers and the large, fast greens are gently contoured and surrounded by trees. Water is a prominent feature throughout, coming into play on all but four holes. The layout saved the most challenging for last with its signature 18th hole, a par 3 with a tricky island green.

The 4some ahead was very slow. .There were 3 holes open ahead of them after ONLY 10 HOLES. I know a RANGER is expensive but the course was FULL and they allowed this group to go this slow. ONE ride through the course would have probably sped up the pace of play. If you want us to pay to play here YOU need to start running the course as a GOLF COURSE!!!!!!
Worth playing.
We played here after 3 days of rain, so we expected some puddles on the fairways, and there where some so not a problem. The greens where amazing. Dry, fast and all in great shape. They must have some serious irrigation under the greens. We where certainly impressed with the greens. The course was enjoyable and worth while to play. If you are thinking of playing here, do not hesitate. Very well maintained.
The only downside to this round was my presence, regardless of my star-rating.
carts are overpriced
course is great, greens are fast, green fees are good but cost for a cart is way over priced. charged $25 instead of the normal 15-20
It was OK but...
The course was very busy as you would expect on a Saturday in September.
They were out of power carts at around 11 AM, and we grabbed the last two pull carts, both had broken wheels and were difficult to pull.
As seniors who are in good shape walking was not a problem but I know many of my peer group would have had to cancel with no power carts.
No excuse not having working pull carts in good condition.
The starter was friendly and good , the guy who took our payment inside was not.
The course itself was fine, fair to good conditions although nobody was repairing ball marks, which is not the course's fault.
First time playing Very good value. Will play again
OVER PRICED CARTS... BS
This course CHARGES. $27 for a single rider cart... booked as a single so not really an option to share cart
Got paired with two people walking.. if I had brought my pull cart I would walked.. during Covid this MONEY GOUGING IS BS and this course is disgusting for doing so..
Nice, but somewhat aggravating
Course is in better shape than many I've played this year for the money. Complimentary pull carts are great, and friendly starters.
However, annoyed by a couple things: yardages are not what the card/signs always say - must check tee block for proper distances. 200/150/100 yardage markers almost impossible to see if not right around them, so distances very tough to know without a rangefinder. No beverage cart on the day we played, which was a killer because there's no stop at the clubhouse at any point during the round, so bring drinks.
