I play this course often.
It's well kept and improving all the time.
What I really like about the course is the personnel.
Always accommodating and friendly.

Nice course with open fairways and very good greens.

When Southern Oaks first opened it was a great layout and very nice. Thru the years it went down and for a while it wasn't even worth the time but in the last year with new owners and an influx of money it is coming back to be very enjoyable again. I would recommend putting it on the rotation.

Beautiful day (mid-70s), generous fairways (although somewhat sparse in places making for tight lies), but almost no yardage markers and contoured greens made it tough to hit GIR/get up & down. Also, they're redoing the bunkers so some were just washed-out mud pits.

The rain spit on us a little but we got our round in. We love to play Southern Oaks. Course was in excellent condition.

Good course for mid-level golfers. Wide fairways with well placed bunkers. Fun course to play.

From 7300 yds down to the ladies at 5300 yds there is a tee box for everyone. Very nice layout and open so the players move forward at a good pace but not easy - deserves the 129 rating from the white tees. Greens and fairways in very good shape considering the deluge of rain in May and unrelenting heat ever since.

I have not played this course in a few years. After hearing about substantial improvements, I could not have been more disappointed. Hardpan everywhere. Greens were in good condition, but fairways were brown and hard. If you were unlucky enough to be in the rough especially around the greens, forget about it. The new sand is ridiculous(where there is new sand). The old sand bunkers are full of rocks. I would hate to pay full price at this course. I will not be back.

Don't waste your money! Course looked like it had not been watered in a week. Fairways were dry and hard. If you were not in them, many times you were playing off of dirt. Workers were on the greens talking on cell phones while we were trying to putt. I will not be back.

Had not played here in years. New ownership has done a great job with this well designed wide open course. Greens are outstanding. Course is in very good shape, needs some help from much need rain in some areas. Overall 9 out of 10 rating. Will be back soon.

Be wary they have had a management change. They removed all the GPS from the cart but still show on GolfNow they have GPS and they still charge like they have GPS!!

Had a great time, will return often. So far one of the best courses I have played in TX.

course is in great condition except for slow green. pace of play could improve as we waited about 2-3 min every hole, marshal was around but i guess he didnt say anything. i accidently booked course for saturday round and staff was more than willing to squeeze me in, that is awsome customer service as i drove 30 minutes to play. shot 81 and would definitely come back again bc of staff friendliness.

If you like putting on carpet go ahead. This course has come a long way, but if you are used to quality green conditions and speed, you will not enjoy the round.

This course is nice if you are looking for a forgiving course. The fairways are long and wide. The weather has taken a toll on the course but overall it is a nice course.

Just had to leave the course after 9 holes. After spending the morning waiting close to 20 minutes a hole we left at the turn. The single playing in front of our twosome was told by the 4 older gentlemen in front of him playing two balls a piece that "they live out there and don't need to let anyone play thru them". Aside from that there was 4 women in front of them who did not like anyone attempting to play thru them as well. The starter/marshall seemed like he could care less about the situation. I should have known that when we went to go off and asked "are we up next?" And was told to ask the people in the clubhouse.There was quality sand in the bunkers but the bunkers had not been raked in about a week I would guess. Greens were ok but overgrown and need to be cut. Unless you like to play in an atmosphere where no golf etiquette exists I would just leave this course to the locals living around it, driving their jacked up golf carts and treating it like their own private club.

Played on a Sunday afternoon , course was in good shape, greens played slow but consistent throughout, enjoyed the pace of play wasn't crowded great clubhouse and friendly staff will recommend!

I decided to give this course another shot after reading some of the reviews....and was pretty disappointed. Southern Oaks has a fantastic layout, but the conditions were still shoddy. The course was just dry and hard....the greens were ok, but very shaggy which is surprising for a Saturday. The bunkers are awful. On #11, there's about a foot of sand in the fairway bunkers. I guess in a nutshell, I just wasn't impressed. 3 stars max

I have played twice a week all summer long. I needed to try out s new course and the Sunday 9am tee time was only $41.00
The maps took us to the wrong address so we bumped back our tee time. The manager was super friendly and helpful. The club house was nice enough to want to grab a drink at even if you are not going to play a round.
Finally, the course was in great shape. The back nine was a little too dry in areas and you could see where grass was struggling to stay alive. The greens were in great shape and the fairways were nice. Also fairways were pretty wide open for the most part.
Highly recommend for the price. I will definitely be back!

This course has the deepest bunkers I've played with gorgeous white sand. The greens are challenging with the slopes. Hard to read the breaks. Course is in good shape.
