Don't waste your money! Course looked like it had not been watered in a week. Fairways were dry and hard. If you were not in them, many times you were playing off of dirt. Workers were on the greens talking on cell phones while we were trying to putt. I will not be back.

Had not played here in years. New ownership has done a great job with this well designed wide open course. Greens are outstanding. Course is in very good shape, needs some help from much need rain in some areas. Overall 9 out of 10 rating. Will be back soon.

Be wary they have had a management change. They removed all the GPS from the cart but still show on GolfNow they have GPS and they still charge like they have GPS!!

Had a great time, will return often. So far one of the best courses I have played in TX.

course is in great condition except for slow green. pace of play could improve as we waited about 2-3 min every hole, marshal was around but i guess he didnt say anything. i accidently booked course for saturday round and staff was more than willing to squeeze me in, that is awsome customer service as i drove 30 minutes to play. shot 81 and would definitely come back again bc of staff friendliness.

If you like putting on carpet go ahead. This course has come a long way, but if you are used to quality green conditions and speed, you will not enjoy the round.

This course is nice if you are looking for a forgiving course. The fairways are long and wide. The weather has taken a toll on the course but overall it is a nice course.

Just had to leave the course after 9 holes. After spending the morning waiting close to 20 minutes a hole we left at the turn. The single playing in front of our twosome was told by the 4 older gentlemen in front of him playing two balls a piece that "they live out there and don't need to let anyone play thru them". Aside from that there was 4 women in front of them who did not like anyone attempting to play thru them as well. The starter/marshall seemed like he could care less about the situation. I should have known that when we went to go off and asked "are we up next?" And was told to ask the people in the clubhouse.There was quality sand in the bunkers but the bunkers had not been raked in about a week I would guess. Greens were ok but overgrown and need to be cut. Unless you like to play in an atmosphere where no golf etiquette exists I would just leave this course to the locals living around it, driving their jacked up golf carts and treating it like their own private club.

Played on a Sunday afternoon , course was in good shape, greens played slow but consistent throughout, enjoyed the pace of play wasn't crowded great clubhouse and friendly staff will recommend!

I decided to give this course another shot after reading some of the reviews....and was pretty disappointed. Southern Oaks has a fantastic layout, but the conditions were still shoddy. The course was just dry and hard....the greens were ok, but very shaggy which is surprising for a Saturday. The bunkers are awful. On #11, there's about a foot of sand in the fairway bunkers. I guess in a nutshell, I just wasn't impressed. 3 stars max

I have played twice a week all summer long. I needed to try out s new course and the Sunday 9am tee time was only $41.00
The maps took us to the wrong address so we bumped back our tee time. The manager was super friendly and helpful. The club house was nice enough to want to grab a drink at even if you are not going to play a round.
Finally, the course was in great shape. The back nine was a little too dry in areas and you could see where grass was struggling to stay alive. The greens were in great shape and the fairways were nice. Also fairways were pretty wide open for the most part.
Highly recommend for the price. I will definitely be back!

This course has the deepest bunkers I've played with gorgeous white sand. The greens are challenging with the slopes. Hard to read the breaks. Course is in good shape.

First time out on this course and I was very pleased. I will be playing here again. I enjoyed the course layout which suited my skill level very well. I found it challenging but not a beating. Great conditions all around, greens, tees, paths, fairways all in excellent shape and very attractive to look at.

WOW!!! I haven't played here in a couple years(during the drought when conditions got bad).
New ownership has fixed this course up and it shows!

Greens - were excellent(receptive, smooth, rolled true but not overly fast)

Fairways - were very good.

I played as a single just before 7am and was done by 915am.

I will definitely be returning to play this course!

Had a blast, loved the hilly fairways and all the deep bunkers. Course is wide open, not much water, but very long which provides a challenge of its own

good course, plays well. the greens were in excellent condition. the only gig was course wasn't crowded but only saw cart girl 3 times.

The course is in the best shape it has ever been...since opening...New owner has hired a great maintenance manager......

The course is in great shape. The greens are in very nice shape. They have done a lot to fix up this course since a few years ago when I last played it. They continue to make great changes. You should go check this course out again.

Bought a round for me and 3 of my buds. It's summer time, I realize it's hot but I don't want to break the bank for a round so I chose a hot deal at 11:24 am. Didn't get to start till almost 12:30!! Southern Oaks was hosting a tournament and the pace of play was apparently ridiculous! I've played her one other time, fell in love with the course but this was a huge turn off coming back. I kept getting "we're checking guys, you'll probably start here in 15 mins" "15 mins" "15 mins" well 15 mins came and went for an hour. I had to find out about the delay through the other twosome I was playing with. Who by the way we're given complimentary range balls, I on the other hand..........no dice! There wasn't even a mention when I checked in of a possible delay. Staff is great when they have it, no cart girls, no Marshall to make sure people tee off promptly, even after all the "15 min" talk, we never got called to the 1st tee box. I suppose the holiday w/e is to be partially blamed, could've been worse...maybe! I was hoping for consistency, whether delays or lack of staff to handle the load, I feel consistency and integrity will guide through adversity. People or customers can respect that, I could've respected that.

Heard it had gotten better after a bad experience over a year ago where the course was in terrible shape. Won't have come back for free at that time. The price was great and I thought I'd give it another shot. Night and day in the course conditions. Greens were in great shape and the fairways actually had grass on them. Didn't hurt that we got done in 3 hours either in the middle of the day. I will be back.
