Crowded
There were lots of people on the course which isn’t really an issue except that this course has no space between holes. I hit a blind tee shot over a small shed to cut the corner on a par 5 and missed the fairway by about 10 yards. I was less than 5 yards from a green. Didn’t know I almost hit some people. And we had several balls flying at us as well. Got a little scary at times.
u000008115465, thank you for the awesome rating! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another great experience, and thanks for choosing The Golf Club at Texas A&M.

Great course for the Tee off deal. Greens in great shape. Overall good for middle January conditions.

Busy = Slow Play
The course was as busy as a home football game or parent’s day. Four-somes on most holes by 2PM except I was a single player in a time where two other golfers failed to show. So where am I gonna go? Ask to play through each foursome in front of me? What are you going to do but after a nine hole round lasting almost 3 hours, I decided to quit.
The learning point is to not play by yourself. Rely on friends to play with you to make a decent group. I noted that more holes are having the sand replaced. That is a great thing.

No parking
They totally blocked the parking lot and made golfers walk from a university lot across 4 lane road

Wet
There is nothing that the course could do with rainfall - several weeks of rainfall a few days a week inundated the course. This was the wettest I had ever seen the course. Standing water a few days after the last rainfall - throughout most of the fairways. Best to let the course dry out before visiting again.
Hello, allergydoc. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. With the recent rain, we are working to get everything up to par. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing The Golf Club at Texas A&M. We hope to see you again soon.
Closed parking lot
The course is changing its parking lot. It was totally closed. They are requiring golfers to park in a campus lot across a 4 lane road across from the 9th fairway. They do not allow carts to leave the course. I drove around in the lot until a space became available. It is a long walk to the clubhouse. There was no indication of this on golf now. I wouldn’t have booked if I had known.

All wet
Feast or famine. Dry during summer and fall but now wet during winter. Unfortunately, temperatures do not allow for drying and is cart path only - that slowed the pace of play. The sand traps are not draining at all with the majority retaining pools of water. There has not been decent sand in the traps in over a year.
Fortunately the GOLFNOW price to play here is the best deal (for the quality of the course) in a 90 mile radius. Courses in Austin and Houston have all increased their fees by at least 10 - 15% coupled with price of gas round trip makes those courses expensive to play.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us, allergydoc. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting The Golf Club at Texas A&M, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Ridiculous
I've been playing this course since 1996. However today was the worst experience I've ever had after a long decline of experiences. The price rates have been increasingly going up for non students to almost $60 ok a Thursday after finals. This is also now the second time I've been forced to share a cart with a random guy I don't know. Despite me getting over the flu/COVID and still not feeling great, the staff was still trying to make me share a cart with someone I don't know. That's not fair to the other guy. And this is after we got sent off 10 minutes late. Then we got stuck behind a 5some that was obviously on a playing lesson round. They literally clogged the entire course up. At one point we were on a 6 hour pace of play. It was so bad that on the 6th hole I had to call the pro shop to have a marshall set out. Instead of a marshall, I got a cart guy telling me that I had to double up with a guy I didn't know. They were more worried about the number of carts on the course than the pace of play.
Not only that, the course refuses to drain effectively. Also they just aerated the greens so that nothing putted true or straight.
This course experience continues to get worse every time I play and it gets old. The convenience is no longer outweighing the Phillips Event Center/Bryan Municipal golf course. This will be the last time I play here for a LONG time
We love hearing about our golfers' experiences, Mike3566575. Please tell us more about what you enjoyed during your round. Thanks for choosing The Golf Club at Texas A&M!
First time - exceeded expectations
I’ll start with the bad
Driving range was closed
2 solid days of rain meant cart path only (understandable)
Even with the rain, doesn’t drain well
Sand traps left a lot to be desired
Bad behaviors from golfer and lots of ball marks on greens
The good
Carts were quality with gps, very nice seats and in cart music
Greens were challenging to adjust too, and way faster than they looked
Layout was great and challenging (for me at least) and each hole had character
Lack of trees and fairways that ran in parallel meant no list balls for me (just played from wrong fairway (a plus for me)
Having never played before on campus, was glad I had someone that had played there before, with fairways running in parallel I needed help knowing where to go
All in all, course exceeded my expectations from driving by it so many years. It appeared flat and boring…..far far from it. Can’t wait to get back again
Just hope the driving range is open.
