The Golf Club at Texas A&M

Played the newly reopened campus course at Texas A&M and it was great. Greens rolled true and consistent. Tee boxes and fairways in great shape for middle of the summer. Pro shop staff and course crew was superb. Will play again soon!

I don’t even know where to begin. Should I start with the slow play? Or that it is overpriced? Or that they charge $25 for someone to ride with you?

The Marshall will for sure check your ticket on 1 but dang sure won’t come back around to check pace of play. Incredible how poorly this course is ran.

I was a member at this course and liked it until they decided to get rid of the chipping green to build a new rec center and boost the price of a tee time to $60. With almost every other course in the area being private, it leaves students no place to practice short game. It’s not worth it, the almost all holes that run parallel are very identical. The course is wide open so you can hit a 100 yard slice and still be alright but the wind is brutal and the par 3’s are all 210 plus from the tips, no variation almost all the exact same yardage. It’s a wannabe country club and you would think for a college campus course they would give students a little better deal but it’s still the price of a 4 star course and it’s maybe 2 stars.

Course is closing for about 10 weeks, they are putting in new Greens. Staff is outstanding. Wish they had more of a variety of food in the clubhouse but what they have is good. I love the course a good test for all levels of golfers. Can’t wait for Labor Day.

This was my first time playing the campus course. The initial impression was great because the staff were very friendly and helpful. The driving range was decent for what it is. The course overall was challenging but this is also coming from a guy that has only played a few times over the last couple months and none in 2020. It was very windy out so that may have effected the round a little but there are a lot o bunkers to make up for the lack of trees! And then there is the water!! My biggest complaint was that there were quite a few greens that were dead for the most part, when you hit a shot from 120 yds out and it lands on the green and you see a dust cloud, the grass is dead! This wasn't every one but enough of them. Maybe some of the A&M students in the agriculture portion could figure out how to rejuvenate the greens?! We weren't rushed, and the pace of play was great. The settings is nice, you are right on campus and can see the stadium, it was neat.

I only got to play 9 holes since it had been raining and the course was muddy and had several puddles of water on it. I did enjoy the time, just was worn out after slogging through all of that.

Nice course but it is in rough shape. The 18th is almost all sand and the rest of the greens are dead grass. Marshal said they were probably going to close it for a few months to restore the greens/

Another great day on the links. The bunkers were tough due to recent weather, so don't hit into them.

The storm killed the greens on the course. The grass on the green are dead. They are in really bad condition.

The severe winter weather hit the greens hard. A lot of dead spots. The course overall is not in great condition. Granted I played early in season but lots of dirt spots. The layout does not suit me but that is personal preference.

Looked forward to playing with my son on Aggie Ring day. However, I was very disappointed in the conditions of the course. The winter storms killed the putting greens and they were frankly unplayable. The course should be offering discounts due to the bad conditions. Fairways were also hit hard and often had to move the ball just to find some grass to hit off of and not dead grass and dried mud. I am sure it will come back but I would wait a while for the conditions to improve.

The poor shape of the course and price they charge only scratch the surface of what’s wrong with this course. If you make the mistake of playing here, don’t forget any of your belongings. If you lose something, then ask for it back, they’ll ack like nothing happened and offer no solution. Their staff members are lazy and make assurances that they cannot keep. The starter is the only decent person working there. The only redeemable quality of this course is the Aggie Special, where you get two beers and a hot dog for $6. Otherwise, don’t waste your time with these people.

Lots of bare spots in the fairways and greens were variable. Challenging course with long grass adjacent to the greens and fairways difficult to hit from. Lots of sand guarding the greens. The driving range presents a real danger to the 10 tee and fairway. Not barrier to balls and the driving range is closely adjacent to the tee box and fairway.

There is NO living grass on the greens. Looks like they sprinkled grass trimmings on the greens, pressed them down with a roller and sprayed green fertilizer on it.

Wasn't much better in the fairways.
