Providence Golf Club
About
Providence Golf Club in Richmond has a rich and unique history. The original location along the Pocoshock Creek closed in 1985 but the property and an adjacent parcel of land were then bought by a new development company. The additional land was used for six new holes while the original property now has longer and more spacious holes. The golf course then had another redesign in 2002 that was overseen by Virginia native Lester George, who is known for designing the highest ranked golf course in the state, Kinloch Golf Club. Providence G.C. wanders through a beautiful landscape of towering trees and wetlands. George utilized these natural features to create a number of risk-reward opportunities throughout the course. The golf course finishes with a risk-reward hole that is heavily guarded by both bunkers and a creek.

Do everything you can to avoid the greenside bunker on the par-4 7th. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 03/11/2020
Fall golf
Played in windy conditions good course but dormant conditions
It drained well after heavy rain from previous day
Some funky holes on the back 9
Wonderful course
Visiting from out of town and this course was beautiful. Coming in fall and seeing the trees full of color was great. It has a lot of par 5 which is awesome forcing me to practice my woods and drivers. Also some short par 3 which are fun. Will definitely play again.
Great Course, people
Providence is a special local course. In good shape today, usually is. Fairways a pleasure to play from, greens rolling good. A solid, fun risk/reward course which will challenge you from the tips…whichever those may be for you.
Monty and the rest of the staff👍🏻👍🏻
Golfers: please repair divots fairways and greens🍻
Better for the Low Handicappers
While I shot a 77 (6 handicap), it was too hard for my wife (30 handicap). She could not carry the marsh in many instances.
I believed the course is proud of their price and was overpriced by $15.
Better signage to hole 10 would be helpful. Missed 10 and 11 - my fault but better signage would’ve been helpful.
Great value
Enjoy playing providence. Always friendly and great pace of play. Never had a bad experience here.
Good public course
Played Providence for the first time in a while. New GM Mike has done a great job. Course is very playable and in great shape . Fairways and greens are in excellent shape.
Range Balls?
I enjoy playing this course. It's fairly priced and in decent shape.
My issue is probably with GolfNow more than the course. I paid ahead of time using the app and paid for a bucket of range balls to use for warm-up. When we arrived, it was suggested we get out ahead of a team event happening in front of us that would slow our play, so we took their advice and went straight to the first tee. When we asked about a credit or refund for the bucket of range balls we were told we had to take that up with GolfNow, the course wouldn't do that. GOOD LUCK getting Golf Now on the line.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Providence Golf Club.
