Providence Golf Club
About
Providence Golf Club in Richmond has a rich and unique history. The original location along the Pocoshock Creek closed in 1985 but the property and an adjacent parcel of land were then bought by a new development company. The additional land was used for six new holes while the original property now has longer and more spacious holes. The golf course then had another redesign in 2002 that was overseen by Virginia native Lester George, who is known for designing the highest ranked golf course in the state, Kinloch Golf Club. Providence G.C. wanders through a beautiful landscape of towering trees and wetlands. George utilized these natural features to create a number of risk-reward opportunities throughout the course. The golf course finishes with a risk-reward hole that is heavily guarded by both bunkers and a creek.

Slow Sunday golf
Course in good condition but pretty slow and we waited on every hole for 5-10 minutes to tee off. No cart girl either so we were thirsty when it started heating up.
A little expensive to play ($70) buts that’s golf nowadays.
Great value for money
Excellent courses; more challenging than you think! Greens were in good shape; receptacle! But people, please fix you divots…and one more for good measure!

Hidden gem
New to the area and really hadn’t heard anything about this course but saw it on Golfnow and gave it a try. Well worth the discount rate. Scenic and challenging layout and good middle of summer condition. Fun to play and pleasant staff.

Good value for money
Overall, a fantastic experience. While the course might be considered short, it was perfect for my game as I don't hit the ball as far as I used to. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Overall condition of the course was very good.

Challenging greens
Course is in great shape. For only 12 holes, you still get your money’s worth.
Greens were challenging.

A bit ragged
Carts have seen better days, very mushy ride and windshield was falling off. Rain cover magnet gone and cover kept coming down in clubs. The course was pretty ragged all over. Lots of bare areas, dirt, gravel, unkempt overall. Greens were fairly nice but slow and holes were popped up, not flattened after hole cutting. Range on the mats. I have played this course here and there for over 15 years and I don’t remember ever being on the grass range area. Fairways and bunkers were in decent shape. Overall not bad but not a destination course by far.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us, u000005751624. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Providence Golf Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.
