About
Providence Golf Club in Richmond has a rich and unique history. The original location along the Pocoshock Creek closed in 1985 but the property and an adjacent parcel of land were then bought by a new development company. The additional land was used for six new holes while the original property now has longer and more spacious holes. The golf course then had another redesign in 2002 that was overseen by Virginia native Lester George, who is known for designing the highest ranked golf course in the state, Kinloch Golf Club. Providence G.C. wanders through a beautiful landscape of towering trees and wetlands. George utilized these natural features to create a number of risk-reward opportunities throughout the course. The golf course finishes with a risk-reward hole that is heavily guarded by both bunkers and a creek.

Disappointing
Have been few times prior, pace of olay always an issue with 10 minute separation of tee times, course stacks up fast. Played behind 4some entire 18, front nine they had groups infront of them, no issues with not playing through there. Back nine course was open infront and still didn't let us playthrough, no ranger on site to enforce. Ended up not finishing 18 as result of being held up 5-10 minutes on each tee box.
Greens were sanded, which normally not a bad thing but there was enough sand people were drawing pictures on the greens and some areas had sand standing 1/2 inch. No prior notice of condition, or reduce green fees to make up for guaranteed 2 putts at best.
Would not recommend based on current conditions, could be a good venue if they spread out tee times and properly maintained course conditions.
They did not mention that greens were just aerated and over sanded and sanded again. It was like putting on a beach. Fairways were very wet. Pace of play was very slow.

Decent course for the price
Overall a good course just bad day to go as the off course amenities
It’s ok!
I will give it try in season to really have a proper review of course conditions. Although even in winter conditions ground maintenance can still be done. Practice area needs to be renovated!
Overall this course has a ton of potential that is being under utilized!
Nice Course, pricey for my budget
Over all a nice 18 hole course. For the price they charge, I would of hoped less leaves were on the fairway. It is winter time I understand, I wish they could reduce their green fees..

Nice public course to play
Pretty decent layout. Some demanding and challenging holes. And some pretty easy. Greens were good, just needed some help - ball marks not being repaired which isn’t their fault.

Overall good
Overall it was good but course conditions were not great after the last 2 storms and debris was all over

Nice layout
Course always in good shape! Many challenging holes! Would like a combo between white and blue tees, for 5800- 6000 length!

Very Impressed!
First time playing this course (High 90s handicap fyi), and so much better than expected! Super interesting layout with plenty of challenging hazards/water, as well as excellent course conditions. Large bucket of range balls was $8, so not bad there either. Greens were a bit beat up from how soft they were, but other than that, really impressed by the course and it’s value. Will definitely be back!

A good round
The course was in good condition with the exception of the greens. The greens were a bit damaged. I'm not sure if it is based on players refusing to fix their marks plus another one or if the staff is having trouble. Everything other part of the course was in really good condition.

Very fun course to play. Course was overall in pretty good shape and the greens played very receptive. The par 3’s were my favorite with their distances and hazards in play
