About
Providence Golf Club in Richmond has a rich and unique history. The original location along the Pocoshock Creek closed in 1985 but the property and an adjacent parcel of land were then bought by a new development company. The additional land was used for six new holes while the original property now has longer and more spacious holes. The golf course then had another redesign in 2002 that was overseen by Virginia native Lester George, who is known for designing the highest ranked golf course in the state, Kinloch Golf Club. Providence G.C. wanders through a beautiful landscape of towering trees and wetlands. George utilized these natural features to create a number of risk-reward opportunities throughout the course. The golf course finishes with a risk-reward hole that is heavily guarded by both bunkers and a creek.

Overall good
Overall it was good but course conditions were not great after the last 2 storms and debris was all over
Nice layout
Course always in good shape! Many challenging holes! Would like a combo between white and blue tees, for 5800- 6000 length!

Very Impressed!
First time playing this course (High 90s handicap fyi), and so much better than expected! Super interesting layout with plenty of challenging hazards/water, as well as excellent course conditions. Large bucket of range balls was $8, so not bad there either. Greens were a bit beat up from how soft they were, but other than that, really impressed by the course and it’s value. Will definitely be back!

A good round
The course was in good condition with the exception of the greens. The greens were a bit damaged. I'm not sure if it is based on players refusing to fix their marks plus another one or if the staff is having trouble. Everything other part of the course was in really good condition.

Very fun course to play. Course was overall in pretty good shape and the greens played very receptive. The par 3’s were my favorite with their distances and hazards in play

2nd time I have played this course. First time was in November, course in very nice summer condition now. Would highly recommend.

Great Time.
Greens were in great shape. Slower than I expected but in good shape....I enjoyed the course not having played it in a while. The course overall was in pretty good condition and pace of play was great.

Make sure you’re getting the ball in the air off the tee
First time playing this course. Played the blue tees, and was surprised by some of the forced carries required off the tee. #8 and 9 are two back to back holes where you have to get it in the air for 150-160 yards or you’re in the junk. Course was in decent shape for the most part, although some fairways were pretty beat up. The group in front of us was very slow so it was a 4.5 hour round. Not my favorite public course in the Richmond area but I’d go back.

Fair public Course
Some blind tee shots and hidden hazards. Nice greens. Fairways average. Lots of bare spots in the rough and some tees. Overall an average rating.

Nice layout
No waits on tees with afternoon tee time. Very friendly staff. Very good, fair layout. Faiways in very good shape. Greens had a lot of tree residue though and required a lot of pre-putt maintenance.
Very satisfied, would certainly play again.

Course is almost 100 %
Greens came through the aerating great and the grass is coming up nicely. Always liked the setup, nice risk reward on most holes. I play solo a lot and everyone I’m paired with has been nice.
