Cedar Crest Golf Club
About
Cedar Crest Golf Club in Murfreesboro sprawls across rolling farmland accented with groves of mature trees. The fairways on the front nine are wide open but they become narrower and tree lined on the back nine. The greens play fast and true and they are also well conditioned. There are not many sand traps to contend with but a smattering of elevation changes throughout the golf course cause an occasional uneven lie. Seasoned golfers looking for a challenge won't find it here but what you will find is a relaxed atmosphere that is ideal for a quick, casual round that is player friendly enough for beginners. In addition to the course, Cedar Chest Golf Club offers extensive practice facilities including a driving range and a two-tiered practice green.

Getting there
WOW the greens looks great for this time of year. I can't wait until the grass starts coming in. Everyone there have put in a lot of work in the off season. I think it will be one of the best courses around for the price in no time. Great job Cedar Crest
This course is one of the best I have played!
This course was one of the best I have ever played. On top of that the food was amazing as well. Great course!
I guess I need to back. Played there several times over the years and never one of my favorites. The greens were usually good but were terrible the last time I played last summer. Never have been able to play as is in the rough due to the amount of rock. With a good price I will try it again.
Nice Surprise
Found the greens to be in excellent condition for this time of the year. A nice surprise. Features a couple of drivable par 4's. Love the challenge to go for these. Overall, the course was in very good condition. Tree lined fairways call for good drives to score. Will absolutely play here again.
Getting Better
This course has a good layout, open front, tighter back. They are still getting it back in shaped, I played there earlier in the year and it was a cow pasture. Most of the greens have recovered and the fairways are coming around as well. I still wouldn't pay full price but on a Hot Deal it's not a bad 18.
Good course
Course in good shape for the time of year.Tee boxes a little shaggy.Friendly staff.
It's going to be great
Played yesterday and though I've played cedar crest several times since moving here and love the layout - it's challenging yet risk / reward is there. I was impressed by the work they are doing on the course.
I am glad to see that they are taking this course seriously. I always thought it had potential beyond its current condition. With cutting back the rough, filling in the craters that existed off the sides of the fairway and bringing in son top soil to cover the rocks , it is beginning to look like a contender again. Greens have always been good, true. A couple d try Le spots that they're taking care of. This is definitely one to put on your list if you haven't played in a while.
terrible
greens in very, very bad shape! dead spots everywhere!Tee boxes was like hitting out of the rough! fairways were ok. I seen this course in better shape, don't know what happened
Great Value
This course is well laid out and a fun course to play. It is challenging, but accessible. The greens are bent grass and roll good, but not like the putting green. The greens are not as fast and do not break as much. My only complaint is some of the greens were being repaired due to a fungus. Good course!
UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This will be a nice course once the construction is complete but for now stick to the hot deals only or you will be over paying .

Booked a tee time with friends...arrived early to hit range balls which there was none of. Staff said they would bring some and that never happened...now onto the course..been playing golf for 40 years and have a 4 handicap. This course is a goat ranch. The fairways are horrid and the greens are worse. I would compare it to playing putt putt golf only missing a smoking dragon mouth to putt the ball in. The course has a few nice designed holes but overall it just needs to be shut down and fixed. It has potential but needs to be have some extensive work done to fix this course. Sorry I hate to leave reviews lime this but they should have paid me to play here not the opposite.
Course under construction
Several of the fairways and a few of the greens were in pretty bad shape. The fairways were completely dug up in some spots with huge sections of plowed up, hard packed dirt. It think the price $42 should have been about half that considering if you hit a shot perfectly down the middle of the fairway you could end up in this unplayable surface. Yeah, it's a free drop but why am I paying so much when you know your course is under construction. I don't remember seeing any signs prior to teeing off and none of the staff gave a warning either. This course could also use a marshall. We got backed up behind a foursome that was literally hitting one shot at a time. I mean, each player remained in the cart until the other player hit and completed their shot. Then he would walk to the cart and another player would get out of the cart, walk up to the tee box and then commence preparing to hit his tee shot. And they did this all the way to the green. And they were hitting the ball sideways about 80 yards each hit. I might play here again but it will be for $20 or less for 18 with cart. Be advised, it IS NOT worth more than that.
Course in transition
I booked tee time on Golf Now for a really good rate. I have always liked the design on this course and it seems that the ownership is making repairs and modifications to the course. They were leveling areas of some of the fairways and trees were being removed in some areas. I look forward to playing again once those improvements have been made. Hopefully the greens will improve as well. Most are great but a few are in very bad shape.
Greens
Due to the extreme heat the greens were constantly being watered, which made them slower than expected and a couple greens on the back nine needed attention (patchwork sod had been put down which made the surface horrible for putting and one green had tire tracks on it which appeared to be tractor tires).
Can't control the heat but need to repair those greens.
fun layout, poor conditions
Cedar Crest has a fun layout. Not difficult, but fun. However, the condition of the fairways was the worst on any course I've ever seen. Grass is non-existent in many of the fairways. I would gladly recommend the course, if they put effort into improving the fairways. Greens are smooth and filled in nicely, but run slow. Also, the range balls are whatever they have found lost on the course and they don't appear to clean them between cycles.
Do not waste ur time
Fairways are the worst I've ever seen. Do not play here.
Mr. Washburn
Haven't played here in a while, so I thought I'd check it out. When I checked in I requested a small bucket of range balls and was told there was some on the range. Little did I know that that meant self serve out on the range. The course was somewhat more challenging than I remembered and the greens were in good shape, that was about it. The tee boxes need a substantial amount of h2o applied before the resodding will start to grow.
Updates needed
This is a very good course. They need seed. A lot of seed. They also need a pitch sand practice area. Almost got hit by ball putting on 18 from driving range slicer. However course is challenging fair and fun.
Rainy Day
Cedar Crest is probably the best draining course in the area if a lot of rain has come. Front 9 is fairly wide open, the second 9 is very tight and can eat your lunch if not precise off the box. It had rained 4 straight days and still allowed us to drive in the fairways.
Nice lay out
Course has potential but to raise the price from last year and have bare patches 100 yards and in sad. They have a ways to go before the rates should go up.
Thanks for the great review, Tim5224884! We take a lot of pride in our conditions and we're thrilled to know that our hard work shows. We're excited for Spring, as well, and we hope to see you out here again soon!
