Salish Cliffs Golf Club
About
Salish Cliffs Golf Club, part of the Little Creek Casino & Resort, is located 20 minutes from Olympia and is just a little over an hour from Seattle. When the course opened in 2011, it was named "Best New Course" by both Golfweek and GOLF Magazine. The dramatic landscape of the course travels up and down over 600 feet of hillside, providing panoramic views of Kamilche Valley. The golf course is covered in bentgrass turf more frequently found in tropical climate, but that is just one of Salish Cliffs' many unique amenities. Each hole offers a unique challenge. Though the fairways and large greens roll true, accuracy is essential or you'll be severely penalized for missing them. The course finishes on a positive note with an opportunity for a birdie if you favor the left side all the way.

Don’t Play in Spring Wait Till Summer
I’ve played twice. This course is pricy, if you’re gonna charge top of the line prices I want a top of the line experience. When I played in August it was well worth the $120. When I played in April it was very much not worth $80. Respect for lowering the price but definitely wouldn’t recommend playing in the spring but that’s Western WA
Soggy conditions but worth playing
The course was soggy and cart path only. But considering all the rain that we have had here, it was in better shape than i had thought it would be.
Only con is that the cart gps system stopped working on hole 5 and didnt start working again until 16. Since it was cart path only, getting distances on the course was a little difficult.
Really wet
Nice course an facility, but it was really wet, and greens were really slow.
Great experience
Took advantage of discounted rates. This course is fabulous. Tucked away in the hills
One of my favorite WA courses
Great course with a fun layout. Every hole is unique. We played winter rules obviously due to wet conditions, and it was wet!! I expected course to be little drier given the elevation.
Staff is always super helpful and friendly.
Winter Golf
I played with a couple of friends from our group, as we were attracted by the winter rates for green fees. The staff was very friendly when we checked in, but was adamant that we must keep the carts on the path as the course was wet and we could tear up the turf if we got off the concrete cart paths. The course was one of the wettest I've ever played, even on the holes that were the highest in elevation. I was wearing winter golf boots and almost had one sucked off my foot a few times while walking to my ball. The course played at least 30% longer than listed on the card due to the wet conditions. The greens were o.k., but their speeds were inconsistent. We may try this course again in the summer, but never again in the wet season. As a last comment, we were quite religious about staying on the cart paths, but about every third hole, our carts would shut down and the touch screen would tell us that we were in a forbidden area. After a few seconds, the cart would be restarted and we could continue. We never left the paths.
You can tell that the course is beautiful but yesterday was not the day to enjoy the course. The fog was so bad that every shot was a blind shot until you were near the green. The course was so wet that going from cart to ball was excruciating as my feet went so far into the mud that it reached my ankles. Hitting was like soggy and super difficult. I will go back once conditions are dry and fog less as you can tell that the course would be a beautiful and satisfying experience. I just hate that yesterday was my first experience, especially after driving for about 1hr to play.
Great Round
Will definitely be playing again. Beautiful course and best conditioned course I have played on in a long time. Fairway grass great but wet and soft from dew and rain and had some trouble adjusting but that was probably just me. Each hole separated from others. Wide fairways . Some of the holes seemed to play much longer than their listed distances.
A must play.
Made a special trip to the course. Stayed in a motorhome at their RV park, which also is top notch.
Will definitely be back, but this time when greens hadn't been airated........but, in their defense, the green fees were reflective of .
First class experience.
Customer Satisfaction is not a priority
Sadly, had high hopes - first time playing at Salish Cliffs - arrived an hour early to hit balls and warmup
1) middle of summer - expansive practice area - hitting off of mats
2) course policy - can not use the range till 30 minutes prior to tee time - played golf in many locations - never heard of that policy - are you kidding?
3) course policy to not provide a cart till 30 minutes prior to tee time - chipping area is 300 yds away
Hidden course of disappearing balls
Why this is a top rated course is baffling! Super narrow with no off fairway maintenance. If you’re ball rolls off the back of the green, its gone! If you get a bad bounce it’s gone! There are no views of anything. No cliffs. The course is boring and irritating.
Eyes2&armsone
Course and overall experience well worth getting on with it. Be sure to finish with the Fish & chops, beer alongside(of course!)
A bit bland and high priced
The course was in good condition from tee to green, and greens rolled true. This was a nice track overall and moderately challenging, but thought it fell a little flat in creativity at times, and was not the best value in town. If I could find a discounted rate, would play again.
Pure golf
Salish Cliffs is an 18-hole course in Shelton, Wash., about 1 hours south of Seattle by the South Puget Sound. It's a great layout by golf architect Gene Bates, and is up the hill from the Little Creek Casino Resort where we stayed. There is no surrounding development, so the course is peaceful and stunning. Lots of evergreens and native grasses frame the holes which are in immaculate condition. The holes offer great variety, and are very memorable. Three of my favorites include No. 3, a long, downhill par 3 with a green nestled along a hillside to the right, with large bunker guarding the front left; and no. 9 and 18, which share a green, and have water and lots of bunkers to factor. The customer service is first class, and the clubhouse is designed with a Native American motif. Two carved, painted totems frame the entryway of the wood, glass and stone building. The course and resort is owned by the Squaxin Island Tribe, and artwork abounds throughout the property, giving everything an excellent Native American vibe. I love this course and play it every time I'm in or near Seattle.
A romp in the Washington woods
Really enjoyed my visit to Salish Cliffs on a recent media trip. The Gene Bates-designed course is carved out of some impressive, dense woods and combines great course conditions with an engaging design, highlighted by some distinctive and sometimes treacherous bunkering. Favorite hole: the short (i.e. reachable) par-4 second hole.
The course is part of a nice casino resort with excellent rooms and good food. Great for a weekend trip and as a compliment to a round at Chambers Bay about 40 minutes east.
