Good for the $
Fun course layout. Nice property. Difficult to put tees into ground, but not a big deal. A few dead spots on greens. Overall good experience and value.
Greens are spotty and overall bad. Tee boxes are dirty. No sand
Greens are not kept up and the bunkers had weeds and overgrowth in every single one of them. The tee boxes were hard and mostly dirt. TERRIBLE. Would not play again unless this changed. Beautiful layout of the course though.
Tragic, but worth a play.
First off, the layout of this course is super cool. Hole 5 is carded as a par 4/3, but had been a par 3 both times I played it with about an 80ft drop from tee to green. It is such a cool hole, but would be better as a par 4. Lots of elevation changes on the front and back with beautiful scenery surrounding. Some holes are nice and open, others require more accuracy but it felt like a nice balance. Some words on maintenance: It's not good. I'd say most tee boxes are uneven, ROCK hard, and largely dirt. I snapped some tees trying to penetrate the ground, honestly I think a power drill would come in handy to set up some of these tee shots. Greens seem better this year than last, but not without some diseased spots. They played surprisingly quick. Bunkers are atrocious, completely unhittable and exactly like last year. On course restrooms pavilions are blocked off and out of order. There are no water stations anywhere. Clubhouse is an outdated and underwhelming place, but functional i guess. The carts are old and have had a hard rough life, but they work.
The fairways and rough seem to be pretty well maintained though.
I would LOVE to see this course renovated and well maintained like Pine Creek or Cedar Crest. For $35 though, I know it will never get there without some massive capital, and that's where the tragic part is. I would never pay more than $35 to play here, but I could see this being a $70 course with it's beautiful scenery and cool layout. In the meantime, it'll just stay a good value.
Progress
Course beginning to come around. Greens OK with a few rough spots. Most tee boxes are good. Fairways filling in. Marked improvement from a year ago.
Horrible condition
There was standing water and huge puddles on every fairway on the front 9. Worse condition I've ever seen a golf course in my life. Quit at the turn because of the mud. The course shouldn't have been open on Saturday. Several of the tee boxes were unusable
Course needs work. On course bathrooms not open. Club house not open.
Needs some work
Tee boxes were difficult to locate at times and some were in rough shape, fairways were decent, a few patches here and there, greens were hit or miss. Some greens were smooth while others were covered in divots and rough patches. The course as a whole was fun and enjoyable, but would be more so with a few extra grounds keepers
