Blackstone Golf Course
About
The player-friendly Blackstone Golf Course boasts a reputation of being an excellent course for families. The gently undulating landscape is approachable to beginners while still providing a fair amount of challenge. The rolling terrain requires accuracy but most holes allow for short irons if you're willing to risk hitting your ball into the treetops. There is a stream that meanders through the golf course, coming into play on a number of holes. It also crosses through Blackstone's driving range. Strategically placed bunkers are also scattered throughout. The greens are in excellent condition, providing great putting surfaces. Blackstone Golf Course has garnered a local following because of its playability, which is helped by three sets of tees, and extremely reasonable rates. It's an excellent location for a casual round.

Rough conditions
Can’t say I’d recommend this course. It’s in terrible condition. What’s left of the fairways are rock solid, and the greens are in tough shape.
Horrible course
It appears they haven't even tried to mow or trim the very little grass they have.
Tee boxes are a mess.
Greens are horrible with ankle deep grass around the green.
Fairways are non-existant. It's dirt/sand and when there is grass it's awful. Middle of the fair way had shin high weeds at times.
No beverage cart.
I would not recommend
Great Layout
Great layout unlike nearly every other Florida course. Not in the greatest shape but still highly playable and enjoyable. Staff is friendly and helpful. I would play this course again.
Great potential
The staff was very friendly on arrival and the carts are great quality. The layout is so great for an elite course, but the condition of the turf is not there yet. If you don’t care about the turf and just want to try something different go check it out. The course is pretty challenging with forced carries and hazards. Overall, I enjoyed my round.
Playing Hills
Overall the course is good. Once the 3 fairways that are rutted get fixed it will be the best value golf in NW Florida.
Play, Spray, Stray
First the good. The carts seemed to be new electrics and included GPS, but the constant screen ads were annoying. The clubhouse was nice looking like it had recently been renovated or given a fresh coat of paint. And the lunch sandwiches were huge and delicious, but don't expect an afternoon snack because the kitchen closes at 2.
Now the bad. Unless your drive consistently finds the fairways you're bound to venture into the woods (whether you spray right or left) and most likely will find other stray balls along with yours. And it's hard to call them "Fair' ways when you're hitting approach shots from hard ground devoid of any grass. The greens had us baffled 90% of the time because there was no consistency in the speed.
I will admit to some vista-like views from a several hilltop tees. But use caution on holes 5, 8, 17 and 18 where your shots "must carry" (cross or go lost) fairway-wide and deep gulches full of briars and undergrowth.
My advice to seniors - swallow your egos and play from the blacks or reds, not the whites. You'll thank me for it. Two of us played the whites while my wife played the reds with none of us breaking 100.
And after an hour-long drive from Panama City Beach it's hard to justify recommending Blackstone to friends, even for the GolfNow value.
Greens are in good shape some of the fairways are in ruff shape in need of irrigation but appears they are working on it, overall a nice coarse.
Disappointed, to say the least
I hardly ever write reviews, but I will today. This course is in bad shape. Probably the worst course I have played in several years. Fairways have no grass and the grass on the greens is a weed. I wish I would have cancelled my tee time when I saw the practice green. The only saving Grace for the day is the price was moderate. I will not be back or recommend it to anyone. What a shame, because it could be a fun little track.
Course Plays Great
Course condition is in recovery stages. The greens had some other growth but they were still fast and true. The fairways were pretty much washed out and will require lots of work. But all-in-all, my partner and I played a great round! And yes, I would recommend Blackstone!
Spectacular Views but Winter Conditions
Blackstone has some of the most spectacular golf holes with elevated tees and greens. It’s a nature walk with trees everywhere and a sense of beauty that is so wonderful. Unfortunately we played mid march and the fairways were pitiful. The pro shop warned us that the winter weather was not kind to the course. Clubhouse and restaurant is very good
Play here when the grass grows and you will not be disappointed. A warning though that this course is not for beginners. You can lose tons of balls here
Fairways still need work
The fairways are still terrible definitely need to improve them once that’s done this course will be a 5 star
Not the same course as 2/7/24
Finally thought I should send out a review of Blackstone as after reading reviews I felt the Truth has not been expressed correctly! First off I was excited to get back to the course coming from Washington State...but after 4 holes I could see and experience the neglect that has been given this once exceptional course! The once perfect greens have been invested with second cutting seeded grass...which by the way was 2.5" tall on last round and had started to seed out again! Bill is the manager nice guy but obviously his hands are tied nothing worse than trying to chip onto greens and 2nd cut is too tall...get it mowed! Next not all but someone Boxes are pretty much unplayable they need work! Probably won't be back as driving up from Destin isn't worth it this course is only to be played at $30 or get it back to a better condition...Also someone needs to be put on garbage patrol as I had picked up several cans and trash off course...Truth and Honesty from Washington State
Greens are very good
Love the greens on this course. Some of the fairways are in terrible condition. Washouts, ridges, no grass. Some fairways are OK, but some are train wrecks.
