Blackstone Golf Course
About
The player-friendly Blackstone Golf Course boasts a reputation of being an excellent course for families. The gently undulating landscape is approachable to beginners while still providing a fair amount of challenge. The rolling terrain requires accuracy but most holes allow for short irons if you're willing to risk hitting your ball into the treetops. There is a stream that meanders through the golf course, coming into play on a number of holes. It also crosses through Blackstone's driving range. Strategically placed bunkers are also scattered throughout. The greens are in excellent condition, providing great putting surfaces. Blackstone Golf Course has garnered a local following because of its playability, which is helped by three sets of tees, and extremely reasonable rates. It's an excellent location for a casual round.

First Round at Blackstone
Booked an 820 tee time for a solo, so i was booked with a group. When i checked in, staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They got me out before the group i was with so i was able to get the round done quick, sweet!
The greens are in great shape!
Definitely would play here again
New owners will help
It has been two years since I last played Blackstone. With little to no investment for three or more years many of the fairways have severely deteriorated, almost unplayable. The greens however were in excellent shape. The course has been bought by a group that plans to significantly improve course conditions so course conditions should improve beginning next spring. Bridges and cart barn where being updated and repaired so improvement is visible.
Positive - Greens were slow but in very good condition and rolled true.
Negative - Horrible tee boxes and fairways. Grass was completely dead in several tee boxes. Other tee boxes had only patches of green grass. Some fairways had thin lies--sparse grass and a lot of dirt. Dead grass on the fairways. Several areas on fairways were resodded and the sod died. Sod wasn't rolled so it was completely uneven in that area.
Excellent Greens
This course has so much potential. The layout, elevation changes, and greens are the only reason it received the stars that I gave. If the fairways and tee boxes were as meticously maintained as the greens, you would have a hard time booking a tee time here. The facilities, staff, bar, food and available refreshments were all excellent. The resident fox squirrel was an added treat. Bring peanuts for him!
No grass
Fairways are nonexistent! #12 was actually dangerous to walk on due to erosion. Greens were the only thing watered. They should shut it down
Best Greens in the panhandle
Blackstone offers the best greens of any course in the panhandle. They also have some of the nicest staff in the area. It's always a pleasure to play there.
However, mother nature and some broken water pumps have not been kind to this course of late. Basically every fairway is burnt out and dry. There are also many holes with washed out areas in the fairways, which make it difficult to have a decent lie. It also makes many of the fairways treacherous to drive your cart on.
I sure hope things can get fixed soon as I love playing this course.
greens were in great shape-not so much on the fairways
Great Layout
This is a very unique layout for the panhandle. There is more altitude changes on this course than any other I have played in this area. The course set up is challenging and will require most of your clubs during a round. The greens and tee boxes are in fantastic condition. ~80% of the fairways are great, but the pro shop told me they had washouts in the spring and there are some fairway spots that haven’t recovered yet. Overall for the price, layout and conditions, I recommend this course.
Enjoyed the day!
Course was better than average. Carts are electric and computer equipped for gps and hole distance. Clubhouse has an old school classy feeling about it.
Fairways need water
The greens were in very good shape, but the fairways have taken a beating over the last few years with many washed out areas, weeds, and overall lack of hydration
Fun and challenging cider with a different view
Let me start by saying I've only been playing a few months, I'm not very good, and I've only played a few other courses. I brought my 19yo son who only picked up clubs a month ago for his first par 72 round. We arrived and the guy at the pro shop was very helpful, offering some advice on playing this course. He also advised us that they had a water main got hit by lightening and so some of the fairways were not in the best shape. We load up and head to the range to warm up. The range is natural grass and you hit over a little valley. I knew them that I was in for something different than the other courses I've played around here. The young man that gave us our cart came out to talk to us and was very friendly, like everyone else we met here. We were thinking about playing from the second set of tees until we got to the first bike and see we had to hit from the top of a hill across a revine ful of trees with a little creek running through it. The view didn't look like the panhandle, but being beginners I decided to swallow my pride and play from the tees today. It was the right call. The tee boxes were nice. The elevation changes make this course a challenge but also make it rewarding when you hit a tough shot. Some of the fairways definitely needed water but others were nice. The balls we hit into the woods were mostly able to be found, but the heavy rough will eat them. The greens were in great shape. Not too fast or too slow, with some nice contours. The pace of play was ok. We let a single player play through, but the foursome in front of us was slow so we ended up playing with a really nice guy who was a member. He offered my son and I some advice on playing from lies we hadn't seen before and local knowledge that was very appreciated. At the end of the round we decided to grab lunch at the clubhouse grill. The last working there was extremely nice. The bacon double cheeseburgers were enormous and delicious. She advised us that we could probably share an order of fries and she wasn't lying. It was a giant basket of corkscrew shaped fries. We couldn't finish everything. Overall this is a fun course that i highly recommend. I can't wait to try it again when the fairways are back in shape, the weather cools down a bit, and my game is a little better.
Love this place staff is super friendly
The force is tight and tough I've never seen elevation like this in Florida crazy fairways need a little love other than that staff is super awesome the golf pro in their bill is amazing the same with the crew inside cart guys are also phenomenal keep up the great work Blackstone
Golf course conditions
Some of the fairways are a little rough in spots. Love the conditions of the greens !
Down Hill
I was a member 10 years ago. The course was always immaculate. It’s not that way anymore sand in the fairways no grass the grass that was there wasn’t cut the greens look like they were freshly painted green. I wouldn’t recommend this unless you just wanna go out and have something to do. I won’t pay $27 and I know that’s cheap, but I won’t do it again
